  1. Potter had 27 and Conley had 28. I think Conley was picked a little low in the preseason player rankings of the eighth region. Potter is a senior and Mr. Basketball candidate while Sam is a junior. Both of them are special players. Potter's shooting is incredible. I will say though the difference is that Conley is equally as good on the defensive side of the court. Potter is not.
  2. Haven't seen box score yet. They were both the leading scorers for their teams. Potter can flat out shoot. Spencer had four guys in double figures again.
  3. Spencer County drove three hours to Pikeville and beat a very good Shelby Valley team. They were able to overcome some of the worst home cooked calls I've ever seen. This team is tough. Playing all three Oldham County Schools this week. Doesn't get any easier but the Bears have started the season off with two very nice wins.
  4. Spencer County was hot tonight. Very balanced scoring. Mabry 20, Conley 18, Whitlock 16, Hornback 13.
  5. Spencer County and Fairdale split two quarters a piece in scrimmage with Spencer County winning overall by 6. Fairdale has two dudes that can tear the rim up. Both teams played alot of players as they should in a scrimmage.
  6. I would hope that most coaches are working on things and trying things they wouldn't normally do. Winning scrimmages means absolutely nothing.
  7. Yes, hard to take much away from the scrimmages as the coaches are trying different lineups and trying to develop bench players.
  8. Eastern is my sleeper pick for this region. Watched them scrimmage this weekend. Defense and three point shooting was incredible. Very athletic.
  9. If they survive the first half. Collins, South Oldham, North Oldham, Oldham, Bullitt East, Warren Central, Bowling Green, Connor, St. X, Lafayette, Shelby Valley, etc.
  10. I'm one of those Spencer County fans. LOL. There is no way in heck that Spencer County is the 6th best team in the region. After watching summer ball and recent scrimmages I will say they are better than they were last year. Spencer County has 4 players that will play college ball at some level. I will agree that they are short on the bench but their first five is as talented as anyone in the region. I'll keep quiet on here this year and let the basketball speak for itself but you heard it here first. They are extremely skilled and talented. Injuries or foul trouble will be the only thing that will sidetrack the expectations I have for them. I pick Collins, South Oldham, and Spencer County as the best teams in the region (in that order). Spencer County's first half schedule is murderous. Looking forward to it.
  11. I believe Devin Perry of Central transferred to a school in Florida over the summer.
  12. I would guess that some people want to see how Niece has recovered from the knee surgery. Also, they lost two of their top five scorers.
  13. Regional Contenders: Collins South Oldham Spencer County North Oldham Oldham I believe it will be in that order. Collins gets the nod over South Oldham because of their backcourt, athleticism, and ability to play defense. Any of those five can beat each other on a given night.
  14. Joined this message board three years ago when the current juniors were 8th graders getting significant minutes on varsity. I saw that Spencer County was going to be good for the next five years. I was met with great resistance. I think that my assumptions have been correct. Anyway, I realize Spencer County has not been a regional player except for 2011. That was never my argument. They are now though and some people like yourself are in the dark if you think they are not. Enough about Spencer County let's talk about other teams.
  15. In my opinion they have Powell who could be the best player in the state and after that they have the young Roberts kid who is an excellent shooter. He needs to get stronger and get better on the defensive end. Other than that I don't know if they have enough to compete against the top teams. You have to have more than one elite player to be good. I could be wrong though. We shall see soon.
  16. Yes it will! That is definitely a difficult two weeks.
  17. They are usually well coached. They have a kid coming back that was hurt last year. Just a gut feeling.
