8th Region scores from this weekend

Featured Replies

I was surprised by a couple of scores from the 8th region this weekend:

Woodford County 71, Oldham County 66 and Collegiate 47, Anderson County 44. Does anyone have any color on these games?

Woodford is not a bad team at all I’ve seen them twice if they are shooting it well they are good. If a team does not apply pressure and let them set up their offense they are good.

Didn't see either game, but I can make a couple of relevant points:

1- Woodford's record is not indicative of the kind of team they have. They have played a really tough schedule, and - for the most part - have been very competitive in it. If their coach's assessment is correct, they have one thing that can help them keep pace with an Oldham County-type of team - they have a lot of depth. This score, although a slight upset, is really not all that terribly shocking.

2 - Collegiate isn't a bad team. They don't match up well with some teams - evidence the pasting they took against South Oldham early on - but they have some seriously talented players on that team. Combine that with an Anderson team that seems to struggle on the offensive end of the floor, and you can see how that upset came about....

More food for thought....even though I can readily see how Oldham and Anderson lost, I still didn't expect either result.
