  1. It may be "thankless" as you put it, but they get paid, and and not too bad for a couple of hours of work. Not to mention they have the ability to decide whether or not they choose to umpire. I still think it was a classless move.
  2. My point is that JV teams deserve to play just as much as varsity. Yeah sometimes the quality of the team isn't as good as the varsity, but kids need to learn and get experience one way or another. All year I have witnessed terrible calls on plays that are beyond "bang-bag" where the runners are safe, but called out to move the game along, as well as an expanded strikezone from chin to shin. But in a game that is moving along at a good pace, and a tight game, why is this kind of attitude on the part of umpires accepted?
  3. I witnessed one of the most pathetic displays of professionalism on the part of officials at a baseball game. The game was at Danville. Danville had scheduled Bardstown to a JV/V doubleheader. But Bardstown is not playing a JV schedule from what I understand and Danville put in a call to Mercer Co. to see if they would be interested in playing a JV game after the varsity game against Bardstown. Varsity game went 5 innings fairly quick moving game. Mercer had shown up and both JV teams were ready to play. Pretty tight game after 5 innings the score was tied 0-0 and only 5 hits between the two teams. This is where things went bad. The umpires start to walk off the field as Danville takes the field in the top of the 6th. After a brief discussion, one of the umpires walks away from the field towards his vehicle the other walks back towards home plate to talk to the coaches. I'm not sure of the exact words that were exchanged except I was told later that the umpire said they only get paid for a 5 inning JV game. Last time I checked, pay was for a game, not by the inning. Very poor display of professionalism on the part of the umpires. I just wanted to pass this story on.
  4. Game is today (Tuesday, 4/29). KHSAA site lists game time as 7:00. But I heard last night the game time my have been changed. Still looking for confirmation of that. I'll update if I hear anything for those interested. Lets hear what you guys think...
  5. When a team wins by forfeit, the score goes down as 7-0. The game isn't played so their are no individual stats for hitting, fielding, pitching, etc. except that it goes down as a win. Who gets credit for the win/loss? The pitchers that were listed on the lineup cards? What about the 7 runs for the winning team. If anyone knows the answer to this help me out. I'm most curious about who gets the win and who gets the loss from a pitching standpoint. Thanks in advance!
  6. From what I heard, he transferred before the school year and was he was rule eligible by the KHSAA. He was eligible at the time he was playing. Danville self-reported the situation last week. KHSAA ruled the student-athlete ineligible at that time. If anyone has any other info fill us in.
  7. If your an umpire you still gotta know the rules though. I witnessed yesterday a runner on first and two outs. Batter strikes out and the ball goes to the backstop. Batter takes off to first. Plate umpire immediately calls the batter out. Coach of the team that was batting is livid (for good reason). Both umpires confer and play stands. Batter is out, inning over.
  8. I can't stand people who think just because they have a turn signal on they can squeeze their car between me and the one in front of me. I refuse to let people over who attempt to "force" their car in just because they have a turn signal on. However I regularly let people over as a courtesy when they don't act like I "owe" it to them.
  9. Sounds easy enough... i just saw it as a chance to drop out.
  10. I looked at it for a while and didn't solve it. Gave up, just tired of being consumed by this game. Clues aren't as easy to find and it's my guess that a lot of people have already given up.

  12. I pulled the plug at level 21 (??)... the one with the tree that looked frozen over.
  13. I can understand not being able to control coaches leaving college programs to go to the NFL as they are two separate businesses. But the NCAA can restrict this between schools and from bringing coaches from the professional ranks.
  14. The only way to prevent this from happening is to make a rule prohibiting hiring a new coach until after all bowl games are played.
  15. If anyone can get me by "Change the Eephus" shoot me a PM
  16. If anyone has managed to get past level 17 throw us some clues. In the mean time I am gonna throw in the towel.
  17. What is equally impressive is how he interacts with fans. I had the privilege of speaking with him briefly after a game and then watched him interacting with other fans, especially kids who wanted pictures and autographs. The staff basically had to pull him away to get him on the bus. He was literally one of the last players/coaches to get on the bus to leave the stadium.
  18. Then I am curious about whether it was a personal foul for a late hit or for unnecessary roughness (or whatever they call for helmet-to-helmet contact).
  19. It is from that play according to the photo on the UKathletics.com photo gallery. The heading to the picture was "Jacob Tamme gets tackled before he fumbles." Picture 37 in the photo gallery from the MSU game.
  20. There is an excuse for this one... looks down from this view.
  21. Is there another high school in Danville besides Danville High??? LOL
  22. Any idea why this game is being played on Thursday?
  23. This whole asterisk converstation came up several decades ago when a different record was about to be broken. Can't we just recognize he broke the record and move on?
