Anybody know why the cheerleaders took the game off? That may have been part of the reason it was so quiet.

Boyle and Lexcath in same district?
I wouldn't be so fast to put Larry Vaught as being from the other side of Title Town. Ask people on both sides and they will tell you he comes from the other side of town.

Just for the record... Not on the field, eh? You have no idea where I was at the time this all went down. If you did, you might be surprised. If you would have witnessed the physical and emotional condition of those officials, you might be suprised to that as well. Those guys appeared to be more scared to be there than any high school kid in either dugout. Believe what you may... as will I. Regardless of that, the fact remains that Danville and LexCath were two of the final 16 teams in the state. Both having a season the practically mirrored the other. Only difference right now is that LexCath is playing and Danville is not. Danville lost, it happens. In the end, of all the teams in this state, only one team will finish the season with a win. All others finish with a loss. And despite your snide remark about Danville having a great summer... I can say to all the teams that aren't playing right now have a great summer, next season starts now. And best of luck to those still playing.

THE Danville fans, or A Danville fan? I was part of the Danville contingent, and not so happy myself. However, I wouldn't say that I was an embarassment to anyone. That being said... if you find a team or group of fans that is happy or indifferent when they get a bad call, or are losing or have lost, you probably wont find them playing at a very high level.

Maybe there should be a lower tolerance level, but an official should not confront a player either... And the umpires got this game out of control rather than keeping it in control.

Durham WAS NOT ejected for coming out of the dugout to argue the call. He was the on deck hitter and that's why he was outside the dugout. Witten was coming to bat and Durham follows him. If you want to know why he was tossed PM me and I will tell you. The home plate umpire confronted the catcher, not the other way around. The catcher was warming up the pitcher, when the umpire approached him and made some comments. Lynn made a comment in return, from the crouched position, with his helmet on and he was tossed. For saying a lot less that what you might think as well. Both of these kids were tossed for poor reasons. Then their emotions swelled as they are both seniors. I am not condoning any actions, and I am especially not condoning poor decisions by adults (umpires) at the same time. They are KHSAA officials and should be able to stand the pressure of such an important game. Danville and Catholic both are top tier teams this year. I hate to see this tarnish any accomplishments that they both have made.

Hardball... Do you know the circumstances involved and why the coach and players were tossed?

D-Town is what they say. Maybe you should have seen more Danville games than this one, and know a little more about them before you start bashing Danville's kids.

They probably broke to "D-Town"

So Coach Morse is completely to blame for the what happened with the two players getting ejected and you say that he condones such behavior. But he on the other hand has no bearing on the class that Witten displayed?

That's funny... because they didn't play Campbellsville this year. ONE Danville fan? Maybe that is the same ONE that was challenging the umpires to fight in the parking lot.

Sit on either side at any game and I am sure you can hear this sort of banter coming from some fans. Not all of them, but there are always some. Every time an umpire makes a call there are half the people that like it and half that don't. I don't believe this is unique to Danville.

I don't have the official scorer's numbers, but I would say only 3 or 4 of the LC runs were earned. The game was very close regardless of what the score may look like. A 2-run homer in the 6th to push the LC lead to 8-5, then three more runs off White who came in to relieve Witten (all of which where unearned I believe). Ads were in the game until then. The 2-run homerun seemed to deflate them.

Fahs threw two inninngs, while Maronde threw to just one batter. Leads me to believe that Maronde will be the starting pitcher tonight. They used 4 pitchers last night and I heard there is another lefty that LC has as well. Maybe he gets the start tonight and Maronde and Fahs will be working in relief again.
