In haven't heard that, but I think it is starting to get some traction and at the very least some conversation. I believe it has to start with getting more involved. The small schools don't have enough influence at the coaching level. It will take administration officials to get change. I would prefer a classed system. How many times do we get that Cinderella story in softball where the small beats the big schools? The gauntlet of the state tournament needs to be a fair one. Not many schools have the pitchers to work out of the situation McCracken County was in, use Madisonville as an example. Madisonville if they pull out the win is gassed worse than the Mustangs especially in pitching. If you want one champion that could be done after the class champions are crowned. Class it in four classes and do a final four the weekend after the fact. This would be more money for the state, the venue, and the schools involved.

I have been watching a discussion on Twitter about classing softball. Just wondering, what's everyone's thoughts on this. This was not coaches, but reporters discussing the thought of a class system like track. I personally don't want to see as many classes as football. But I do think there could be a system to get a more level playing field. I know the small schools have the All A. There is a whole lot of schools in between the small school and the mega schools that have a hard time getting to any tournament. What's your thoughts and reasons.

It has gone pretty well. The kids came together and have been contenders each year. A champion last year. Some girls quit some went to other schools. McCracken hasn't lost a game in the first region after the consolidation. In the years they have existed they have scored 400+runs in the first region and allowing only 20 something. The girls have recieved consolidation pretty well. Yes the programs they consolidated from were better than good. Reidland was a state champion and All A champ in the same year I think 2010. They had several All A championships. Heath fought Reidland for the All A several years and I believe won it once or twice. Lone Oak was in the state finals I think the last two years of their existence. So McCracken came from more than just good programs. Give Scott County some respect though they went through what many thought would be the two teams in the state championship. -
There are days when we are opponents. But everyday we are family. Our hearts go out to Webster County.This young lady passed in a car accident. If you get a chance today say a little prayer for her family and friends. Such a sad loss for small community.

I agree. Kind of sucks drawing that side of the bracket. But, it goes through them no matter what in the 1st region.

Union County seems to be peaking at the right time. Madisonville is always peaking. Lyon County is hungry to prove themselves worthy. Christian County wants to uphold their reputation and tradition. Gonna be fun!

Carlisle County beats Graves County 1-0 Marshall County gets by Ballard Memorial 3-0 McCracken County defeats Murray 10-0 Hickman County beats Paducah Tilghman 2-1 Tomorrow night: Hickman County will play Marshall County and McCracken County will play Carlisle County at Marshall County High School.

Union won 12-0 over Hopkinsville Lyon defeats Hopkins Central 6-0 Last game of the night Christian County beat Webster County 2-0 Madisonville will play Union County tomorrow night at 6pm, followed by Lyon County and Christian County @ 8pm

I'm with you. I think when they see the better team they will have problems. Fouts is the real deal, but good teams will put the ball in play against them. We have played Madisonville and they have one of the best 1-4 lineups I've seen. Kaylee Tow is also the real deal only with the bat. We have also played McCracken and there aren't any weaknesses in the field or the lineup. I believe McCracken will not lose a game in state tourney. Madisonville has an easier road but doesn't have the deep pitching like McCracken. East Carter will get pressure from these 2 teams. East Carter will also also have trouble scoring runs against the better teams. I know Ballard Memorial. East Carter only scored one run against them and they are weak. I try not to talk bad about another team but a good record against weak teams will s show in the tournament. But I have been wrong before. I hope I am wrong for the kids it would be terrible to waste such a good record.

2nd Region Tournament starts Monday at Union County. Games are as follows. Monday Union County vs. Hopkinsville @ 11am Madisonville vs. Trigg County @ 1pm Lyon County vs. Hopkins County Central @ 3pm Christian County vs. Webster County @5pm Madisonville is the odds on favorite.

Lyon County wins the fifth district championship over a game Trigg County 6-3. Lyon County's first championship since 2007. This will also be the first time Trigg County will advance to a regional tournament in their fastpitch history.

I think Madisonville could win it all. They have the best 1-4 lineup. McCracken even though MNHHS has beaten them twice has the best 1-9 overall in the state. McCracken has a pitching staff that coaches drool over. (all 3 girls pushing the other 2) McCracken's defense is as solid as anyone in the state. I think McCracken wins the state but they are in a brutal side of the bracket. Madisonville will have the easier road to the finals. In the end I still feel like the Mustangs are the team to beat. This is just an opinion not science, being the great sport we love any given day everyone is beatable. -
Lyon County beats Livingston Central 10-0 in 6 innings. The second game of the night was a thriller Trigg County defeats Crittenden County 3-2 in a 9 inning game of the night. Championship game is tomorrow night at 6pm in Eddyville,Ky

Webster is solid. Keeney is going a very good pitcher. I think she is going to grow into one of the best in the region.

They have a great record and a great pitcher. I would like to see them against some better teams. The Ashland Blazer game was a good win. But not a strong schedule beyond that. -
Lyon has two other losses and that is to McCracken County which is number 1 and Holy Cross in the All A.They fell out of the top 25 after those losses.(not sure why???) But after beating number 16 Union County then and now number 14 Union maybe they can get a little respect in the coaches poll.

Lyon County beats Union County tonight 1-0 in a dogfight. Sophie Bingham pitched a great game for the Lady Lyons. A timely strike out and a double play by The Lyons defense got her out of a bases loaded with no outs jam. Lyons only score came on a homerun from senior Courtney Kluepell. It was senior night in Eddyville. The homerun was a great way for the senior to end her high school career at home. This was also a big win for the Lyons. Lyon has beaten #16 Union County twice this year. Lyon has Marshall County at home tomorrow night. The Lyons will start district play next week as the number one seed in the fifth district.

Max preps has Scott above Mccracken and how many times has Scott beaten them? Doesn't seem right.

I know Ballard Memorial on their schedule and 1-0 is a gauge somewhat. No disrespect to either team but Ballard Memorial is not very strong. I would love to see the pitcher from EC. I have only heard good things.

Lyon wasn't hitting like they normally do, so credit the NewCath pitcher Meyers. I heard some of Lyon County players say they weren't picking the ball up out of her hand. Maybe next year the weather will be more forgiving.

I've been around this along time and know pitching. If you don't think a crowhop gives the pitcher an advantage, you need to go study up. That's why it's illegal.

Got these off Twitter but it's plain. If I can see it, the coaches saw it, the fans saw it, but somehow the umpire didn't see it. Lyon was down a run with the bases loaded. Make the right calls it could be a different game. Holy Cross is a good team they shouldn't need this junk to win.
