Last game of the night Christian County beat Webster County 2-0

Madisonville will play Union County tomorrow night at 6pm, followed by Lyon County and Christian County @ 8pm

Union County seems to be peaking at the right time. Madisonville is always peaking. Lyon County is hungry to prove themselves worthy. Christian County wants to uphold their reputation and tradition. Gonna be fun!

Game has been postponed. Christian lead 5-4, north is at bat in bottom of 6th with runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs. Will plan to resume play tomorrow at 6 pm

Had some umpire controversy in this one.

Had runners at 2nd and 3rd with one out. Field Umpires are in B and C position. Ball hit hard an appears to be going over the fence in right center field. Christian County Center fielder makes a great play and reaches over fence to rob HR. Runners both tag and advance. Both field umpires are watching HR ball being caught. Christian appeals to 2nd and field umpire rules that runner did not tag, and rules 3rd out of the inning. The issue i have with this, from being an umpire for years, is that the catch/no catch call is for the plate official unless a field umpire goes out to see the catch. If the field official goes out they are to STAY out and the plate umpire then makes the call on tag up at 3rd, while other field umpire makes call and watches tag up at 2nd. This was clearly a breakdown in mechanics. I don't have an issue if an umpire misses a call, as i have missed my fair share, however get in the correct position and watch your area instead of watching the dang game.

UPDATE: Game site has been moved from Union Co. to Madisonville North Hopkins Field. Will resume play at 6 PM tonight.

I have a problem with this. First if you have runners at 2nd and 3rd, why would the 3rd base umpire be in the "C" slot? He should be on the 3rd base line more towards the outfield. That's the proper mechanic. The umpire in the "B" slot should have gone out for the catch no catch, however in 3 man mechanic's the Plate Umpire has no catches in the outfield, those are the responsibility of the base umpires, and the umpire at 3rd does have the tag from second, going to 3rd, while home plate umpire has the tag from 3rd.

 

I certainly concur umpires are to watch the play, not get caught up in the game.
