NewCath's Haley Meyers(5 hits) and Lyon Co's Sofie Bingham (3 hits) duel it out in a dandy.

Details later.

wow

Lyon Co. (23-2) came into this game riding a 14 game winning streak and the Breds gave them one hell of a game. When you are playing a team the caliber of Lyon Co. with a Sophomore pitcher getting interest for DI Purdue, you have to be clicking on all cylinders (pitching, hitting, & defense). This afternoon the Breds had two of the three, has the Breds, Haley Meyers, throws a damn good game, however, she is out done by Lyon Co's, Sofie Bingham.

NewCath 1st - FO9, K, K

Lyon Co. 1st - GO1-3, Bingham single to right (thrown out stealing 2-6), K.

NewCath 2nd - K, Breen single to center, Fryer single to right-center, K, K.

Lyon Co. 2nd - Collins single to right, K, Oden out on bunt 2-4.....but Collins is stealing on the pitch and with NewCath 1st and 3rd basemen charging Collins heads for 3rd. Breds 3rd basemen, Alex Burkart is too far away from the 3rd base bag charging on the bunt, and leftfielder Bailey Gray did one hell of a job running in from left to cover 3rd, but the throw from Jenna Fryer is just a tad high and skips off of Grays glove just enough for Collins to beat the throw from Gray, to score the lone run of the game. Next batter K's.

NewCath 3rd - K, K, K.

Lyon Co. 3rd - Ellis single to right, GO3-4 (Ellis to 2nd), Klueppel single to center (Ellis out at home 8-2), PO!.

Lyon Co. 4th - GO1-3, FO8, FO7.

NewCath 5th - GO6-3, GO1-3, K.

NewCath 6th - Zimmerman single to center, Schreiber Sac-bunt5-3 (Zimmerman to 2nd), Burkart reaches on E6 (Zimmerman to 3rd), Bin FC6 (Zimmerman out 6-2), K.

Lyon Co. 6th - FO9, Somers reaches on E6, GO3, GO1-3.

Lyon wasn't hitting like they normally do, so credit the NewCath pitcher Meyers. I heard some of Lyon County players say they weren't picking the ball up out of her hand. Maybe next year the weather will be more forgiving.
