Thanks Jesse James, players, coaches and parents need to know this. I think kids need to show initiative as well! Coaches want to hear from the players directly and not just coaches or parents.

That is perfectly acceptable and I think we already answered it together anyway. I tell parents and players all the time, that you can't just sit back and hope colleges at any level will find you. You have to get out there and go after them, play good competition, etc. If I came across too strong, I apologize.

So you have to play for certain AAU programs to get recognized and that's fine if that is the answer. Many/most sports have resorted to that nowadays so no reason to sugarcoat it.

Yep, that is my point. My kids/players are being hammered about going to college for an education anyway, but I chuckle when I hear about some kids and D1 offers, and I'm like ummm, okay.

In your scenario, sure Mercy throws some random kid to hound Boley defensively, but yes, Boley still better all around player. Please re-read my hypothetical and respond to what I actually said or just move along and hopefully someone will read it and provide some thoughtful analysis. Or just say "hey it's a recruiting game and you better get your kids/players with so called strong AAU teams so they get him/her a scholarship not based upon talent but based upon being on a certain team."

Just so I understand your thinking on this if a player is matched up directly with the other player, i.e. they're guarding each other, and the lesser ranked player (not getting slobbered on by UofL, uk, etc.) shuts the other one down. The so-called great player can't score or get by her on offense, and the other player blows by the so-called great player on every possession, albeit, she may end up with 5-7 assists instead of scoring each time. Then the one being slobbered on by UofL, uk, etc. shouldn't be getting slobbered on right and the other player should be getting slobbered on for recruiting purposes? I just want to understand the thought process as I have always laughed at the artificial recruiting process for some kids just because they play for a certain AAU team.

Can I get a PM as well? I haven't heard this but agree that it shouldn't be thrown out there until reported by CJ or regular media.

Or she will start at one of their schools, transfer to the other and then end up at Notre Dame Academy or reverse this order! :sarcastic:

Like I said before, Sacred Heart is loaded and in for a very strong season. Between Berger, Fichter, Sivils, Harris and Samsel, not to mention those 3 Freshmen and some other talented role players, they have 7-9 players who should play in college at either a lower Division 1, or at least Division 2 level if they so choose. Also, as I mentioned in the top 10 7th Region players rankings, it is hard to just list 10 and some on there might be replaced by some of these not listed on there. Fichter and Sivils are both very under-rated in my opinion. They should challenge Male, Eastern and Manual in the 7th for sure.

You meant "Fichter" not "Victor" and yes, they all played well this past summer. They should be very strong.

What? Piper is just a Freshmen! :lol2: Yes, Wurth is back and KK Armstrong decided not to play. She has had 2 concussions and arthroscopic knee surgery over last year so I think she decided to bow out. Nice player but not sure how she would fit in rotation this year.

According to close sources, she is feeling great! I pray she is able to play a full season! Hate the injuries for that kid!

I understand what you're saying but as I said earlier, I think Harbison and Browning from Male should be on the list, and I don't think Sivils is better than those two. So maybe, we should post out respective top 10s.

BTW, thought I would revive this thread as you all do realize that Holy Cross High School in Louisville has fewer than 120 girls in the school, yet somehow went to the state tournament last year and won the All A? Just saying they seemed to get past the issues with numbers and do very well. So what is the difference between their situation and your school's situation? I don't know and am curious.

Did not realize that but she is a nice player. I wouldn't put her top 10 in the region but certainly close, if not in, top 20.

Should have a very nice season but will be oversized in many respects. I think they will challenge for the All A classic tournament.

Don't know who the girl from Sacred Heart is of whom you speak but they have many very good players, so between Fichter, Sivils and Scott, one of them could be listed as well. Is there someone else you mean?

That needs to happen across the state and certainly in Jefferson County! Freshmen teams are getting no games and are a joke to a certain extent.

Very strong starting group for 2019 here locally. Very strong across the state from what I am reading as well. There are many others here locally as well that I am blanking on but will list.

I should not have singled out any one girl who is on the list because I think Calhoun is a very nice player. Just meant that I think Harbison and Browning should be on there moreso than someone doesn't deserve to be on there. It's tough to say because there is a lot of talent in this Region.

That is fair, but I expect Assumption and CAL to battle around that 5th spot. Don't disagree with top 4 at all, but just think the bottom part is not accurate. As for players, it is a crap shoot, and I meant no disrespect to anyone on the list by naming some girls off the list. There is much talent in that Region but no crazy superstar like Jaelyn Penn or Duvall in the 6th.

Yeah, this list is a joke as well. Harbison, Green and Cameron Browning from Male are all top 10 players in the Region or very close to it. Calhoun girl is a nice player but not as good as Harbison. Guess some AAU coaches and camps contributed to this because it is not based upon fact.

Yeah, that's a pretty uninformed ranking as Assumption will be the 5th best team in the Region. Not sure who does this for Cats Pause but they are far off on this.

There is a boatload of talent throughout the state and certainly the lists presented have been great. I think from what I've seen that the Tow kid from MNH is the best non-pitcher in the state in this class. You mean Harlan County, right? She doesn't play for Harlan or at least she didn't last year.
