I shouldn't have even commented and you are a 1000% correct that my comments appear to be taking something away from her and your team, although again, I didn't mention either by name! You meant 6th Region not 7th but it is going to be very interesting between those 3 teams and Holy Cross can always surprise as well. In the 7th, you have Male, Ballard, Assumption, Eastern and Manual with Male being the favorite. Any of those teams could get hot at the right time, though. Should be interesting as well!

Well that is disappointing as well Lawnboy, but at least on here, parents and coaches in Northern Kentucky appear to care. I expected better chatter and discussion from the local folks around Jefferson County because the season has been pretty amazing and unpredictable!

Very interesting that this website, which I thoroughly enjoy, has so few threads about Jefferson County softball. This area includes probably 10 (if not more) of the top 20 teams in the entire state. Why is this the case? Do coaches and parents in Jefferson County not care enough like those in Northern Kentucky?

Yep, that has been my point on other threads. Someone posted a kid having 29 steals in 14 games. Now, kid may be talented but unless she's playing a pretty crappy schedule, she's not stealing 29 bases in 14 games. She is not stealing those bases against Ballard, Central Hardin, Assumption, Male, Eastern, Mercy, Butler and Bullitt East, just to name a few. It is not happening!

I never give our players a stolen base when there is 1st and 3rd and they don't throw down to the base at 2nd to get that runner so maybe I am incorrect.

Josh Bloomer would have had it called and been screaming! Heck, he changed the entire 7th region championship game last year in Male-Assumption by manipulating the umpires to call an illegal pitch!

Coaches obviously need to post stats to the website or somewhere that MaxPreps can grab the stats.

Great information and thanks for the update on that! We have several really talented freshmen at Assumption and we know so many great talented freshmen in this region/area so love checking in on other areas where we don't get to see the players as often!

That is really where I was coming from and didn't express it as well as you. Thanks for cleaning that up for me, LOL! Again, though, what travel team does this kid play for in the Summer? We play many of these teams with many fantastic players but when I see these kind of stats, I say, "what" whether that is fair of me or not, that is my natural reaction. Great players to be sure!

Okay, I apologize if I implied that the person keeping the stats was lying or not accurate, which was not my intention, but you do agree that those are some unusual statistics. Awesome job this year by her and looking forward to seeing her play!

I am bumping this thread up to see what the experts have seen in these first 1 1/2 months of the season. I know that I've seen many fantastic Freshmen and curious what everyone else has seen!

I don't know who is keeping those stats but there is no way that kid has 29 stolen bases in 14 games. I know the schedule has not been very strong but still, unless they are counting stolen bases when it's a wild pitch and she advances a base, that is hard to imagine. Bullitt East has probably the best base stealer in the state in #4 Maros and I'm guessing she has 20 stolen bases on the year.

The 7th Region or the 1st Region will gladly trade the 9th or 10th region for their spot! Today! No questions asked!

Great win by Collins. They have a lot of young talent! The 6th and 7th region tournaments are going to be crazy!

Wow, that's shocking! Collins is a nice team but that is surprising!

What you trying to get me to go off on here? LOL! Probably should have made a pitching change but also should have made a play or two in top of 7th to close it out. Really not a close game as Assumption left multiple girls on base, but Mercy kept playing and won the game in the 7th. That is life in softball!

Okay, so no scores, no updates, no recap, nothing???? Was anyone there? I would like to hear what happened and I can hear it from Male parents or other parents but wanted the rundown!

I have some exposure to many of these girls and I feel like this 2019 class may be one of the best in history of the state! I know that in the Louisville area there are some incredible freshmen, albeit not as many pitchers, but just truly great players. At our school, the one player listed on the pre-season list is a really nice player but there are 4 or 5 other freshmen as good and in many instances better. Great strong class across the state!

I love these threads but there are so many people who could be included and so hard to quantify. Sara Hammonds recently was an incredible High School player and played on one or two final four teams at UofL. There are so many back in the 70's and 80's like Patti Jo Hedges who played at Western High School and then starred at UK. I love hearing the names regardless!

From what I've read and seen in person, this is two of the top 5 or 6 teams in the state. Both really, really great!

So what happened?

Best teams I saw by far were McCracken, Scott County, Bullitt East and Butler. Saw Male play and they look very good but played a very weak team in that game so hard to say.
