  1. I have recovered from my 24 hour mourning period. I am very excited about the future of the program. With that said, there’s a storm brewin in Ft. Thomas. Cov Cath needs to really work hard to stay on top. In fact, this off-season is critical. There needs to be big chips on shoulders. Kids thrive on it. I know I did.
  2. I think Louisville St X would be a great series. CCH would have its hands full, but, I think it makes sense. One “long” regular season road trip each year, is a good thing. Gives the kids some experience, come playoff time. If they can swing Lex Cath and Lou St X, and ensure that they’re on the road for one and home for the other, that would help come playoff time. Frankly, any KY blue blood would be fun. Belfry, Ashland, Mayfield, Male, whatever. Any of that would be cool. Rest assured, the AD is working hard. Best in the business, in my heavily biased, opinion.
  3. Yes. They played Elder, at least twice, back around ‘03-‘04. Lost 10-9 in The Pit, in a heartbreaker.
  4. He was injured. Bieger started and and played the whole way, in the title game. Hladon started in ‘88 and may still have the record for most completions in a single game, on the biggest stage. He was awesome in that game against Paducah Tilghman. Hladon definitely played in the ‘87 season, but was injured somewhere along the way. Hladon led a great late comeback against the Birds in the ‘87 regular season, that really sparked the team. And, to magnify how the game has changed in 30 years, Bieger was 5-5 in the ‘87 title game. Five pass attempts. Side comment - Don Bieger is one of the all time great field leaders to ever step on campus. It had nothing to do with ability. Just a tremendous competitor.
  5. Update - Still looking at filling first two weeks of season. Ryle has moved to end of season. Lex Cath is still on schedule. LaSalle and Campbell Co fell off. Given that SK was a replacement game for Campbell, I assume that they’re not on current 21 schedule. I assume the 8 opponents for now are: Ryle, Beechwood, Lex Cath, Conner, Cooper, Boone, Highlands, Dixie Two weeks open.
  6. St X would be a great opponent. They had Lex Cath and Cincinnati LaSalle home and away the last two years. Unfortunately, Ohio’s shortened season nixed the LaSalle game, this year. Not sure what’s happening with ‘21. I assume Ryle and Beechwood will remain. I think Simon Kenton was a replacement for maybe Campbell Co, but not sure.
  7. Trevor Wilson is VERY impressive. The future is bright. Go Colonels!!!
  8. The reality is I would never be embarrassed by anything this group did on a football field. My guess is 99.9% of Colonel faithful agree. These kids accomplished more in four years than almost every program in the Commonwealth. In fact, they were one unfortunate, late turnover away from having a chance to set the state record for most consecutive victories. They have earned too much respect for a 20-0 loss in the semis to be considered remotely embarrassing. Regarding our three year starter at QB. What a career. He’s the only sophomore QB in CCH history to start in a state title game, and, he’s the only underclassmen to start at QB and win a state title at CCH. I didn’t see the criticism that someone evidently posted. If true, get a life. I bristled at a comment yesterday, that, true or not, felt like piling on. Again, my opinion. In hindsight, I wish I had put the phone down, because nothing productive was accomplished. As I said in the prediction thread, BG is an all time great sports program in KY. They deserved and received all of Cov Cath’s respect. I’m not a fan of one of their posters, but I’m sure that feeling is mutual.
  9. I couldn’t care less. I really couldn’t. Spare me. What are a bunch of “hot” people gonna do? What are the ramifications of said “hot” people’s angst? What’s gonna happen? Feverish, angry posting? Picketing? Petitions to ban Cov Cath from the KHSAA? Fire away. Whatever.
  10. We’re going to go in circles here. I took offense to it. You didn’t. Period. It’s a difference of opinion. It’s not my style after a win, so I didn’t care for it. That’s all. You’re not going to make me feel differently. There’s been a bunch of posts that have lumped members of a community into one category. I’m tired of it. This is another example. I didn’t like a comment. But, I tipped my cap to BG, never took anything way from their great defense. I offered no excuses. BG won, straight up.
  11. For the record, I’ve never posted about Cov Cath’s speed. Never. I thought the comment was unnecessary after a season ending loss. It felt like piling on. So that’s why. It’s my opinion. Don’t care whether you like it or understand it. I’ve also never posted anything like it after a CCH win. I also have not offered any excuses for last night’s loss. I credited BG repeatedly. I took offense to a comment that I felt was unnecessary. Before you tag me, make sure you know the facts.
  12. OK, Deuce, I’ll rephrase, since you want to be picky... Projecting one poster’s comment about the relative value of $15 as the view of the Cov Cath community, is sloppy and embarrassing. Given your posting history about Cov Cath, I’m not surprised, but nevertheless, that post was an unfair pot shot. I sincerely apologize for not combing back through the posts to find the exact context. Shame on me. You’re the best and you sure taught me a lesson.
  13. Well, I have respect for your ability to think rationally and to show respect where it’s due. Thank you. Yes, 2-2 against Warren Co. The two victories were convincing. One at home and one on the road. One loss was a heartbreaker and last night’s loss was obviously worse.
  14. OK. I’ll play ball. Other than the QBs touchdown run, where was the boatrace? In other words, where were BG dudes flying by Cov Cath? I saw one big run and I saw several short field possessions. As I’ve said multiple times on here, BG’s defense was great. They had a mountain in the middle. He was awesome. The back 7 made some nice plays in what appeared to be zone coverage, to set up short fields. I just didn’t see dudes for BG blazin up and down the field. I also saw some mistakes that CCH made that had nothing to do with being slow. They had some chances against a great D and missed em. It happens. Those chances were limited because of a great BG defense. Lastly, I’m more of a fan of tipping your cap to an opponent after a win. Not a real fan of pointing out deficiencies, especially in the overt manner that KW59 chose to render. It seemed a bit over the top. Obviously, that’s only my opinion. You can like my opinion or not, I don’t care. It’s a judgment call. So, I don’t see a point in elaborating beyond that. The most embarrassing post I saw all week, was the ridiculous post that charging $15 for a broadcast “wreaks of privilege”. Now, that is embarrassing, especially after other posters laid out what others are charging on this side of the state.
  15. Not taking the bait. I said what I said and feel what I feel. I don’t owe you or anyone else an explanation and there sure as heck isn’t anything that I value that comes from your perspective.
  16. Show some class, take your win and move on. First time BG has defeated Cov Cath. Congrats on the .250 head to head winning percentage.
  17. The seniors were 40-3 during their three years on the varsity roster. For the full four year run, there has never been a better span in CCH football history. 55-3 and the following accomplishments: 1. Undefeated at home in regular season 2. Undefeated against the birdies in varsity competition (second class in a row that can boast that) 3. Undefeated against all NKY competition 4. Two undefeated seasons 5. Three undefeated regular seasons 6. Four regional championships 7. Three state finals 8. Two state championships I fully understand that this class stood on the shoulders of giants. However, these numbers speak for themselves. So, forgive me for not giving a rip right now about what this team lacked - heard plenty about that, throughout the year, from our experts. I also don’t give a darn right now about who’s coming back. Time for that later. Someone from our own side commented that BG “wanted it more”. Really? How do you know? BG played better. Period. They were the better team, last night. Let’s not kick our kids in the shins by speculating that they “didn’t want it bad enough”. Congratulations to the 2020 Colonels and best wishes to the seniors - you created a lifetime of memories for yourselves and your families.
  18. Once you get to Richwood, heading north, if traffic is really backed up, any one of the succeeding northbound exits will get you to Dixie Hwy (Rt 25), up to the Kyle’s Lane exit. Worst case, you can travel Rt 25 all the way to Park Hills, but, I think traffic lightens up, once you get past 275. Between Richwood and Kyle’s Lane, there are roughly 6 or 7 bail out exits that ultimately lead to Dixie Hwy.
  19. I love Coach Warner‘s passion. This is a blue blood program in Kentucky. I hope he finds the formula. I know it’s a tall order, given the demographics of Boone Co, but, I wish him the best.
  20. As is typical (and tired, and lazy), I’ve read a lot of insinuating comments in this thread about CCH and it’s constituency’s lack of appreciation of a hard earned dollar. Like many schools in NKY, CCH is blessed to have many well heeled, supportive families. However, like most schools in NKY, they have financially challenged families as well. Any assumptions otherwise, or blanket statements re: “privilege” or lack of appreciation for a hard earned dollar are, in my view, lazy and misguided. Separately, even if we want to use geographical stereotypes, which are wrong, I chuckle when I think about our administration and their background. We have a Principal from Alexandria and an AD from Cold Spring. We have leadership with a blue collar ethos. Said differently, we’re led by, down to earth Brossart and New Cath guys. Frankly, they are exactly what we needed at CCH to shake things up. If you don’t think they understand the value of a buck, well, you’re wrong.
  21. His source is really good. I promise. As has been established, it is clear that there is a dichotomy this year in broadcast right disbursal between the east side of the state and the west. This is a unique year. You guys have a first class program and have all of our respect. Please stop with the rhetoric. There are well thought out reasons for these decisions. We are in a unique time. CCH’s broadcast crew has been disallowed from many road games this year, too. Including out of town. If you need more info on that, shoot me a note. There is a ton of respect up here for all of you in Bowling Green.
