  1. The frosh class have always been tallented and strong. Just lacked the speed over the years. Some are starting to change though and size is definitely not an issue. Looking foward to see what shakes out when these Frosh are JRs.
  2. I dont think Greenup will be aboe to load the box and dare us to throw like they did last year. I honestly think teams will have to play very balanced defense to beat us this year.
  3. Before seeing both of these teams play, I figured this would be a battle. But now Im not so sure. It will with out a doubt be a very physical game, but Im not sold on GC yet. Not completely sold on my Rams and how good they are just yet. But, through 3 games, the Rams have been pretty consistent offensively and defensively they have been pretty much lightsout outside of a few broken plays. Greenup has a great corps of LBs and an absolute brute in Warnock at RB. I think this game is close, but Raceland's speed and depth upfront will be the difference. Rams 38 Muskies 14
  4. Thats why I like Raceland so much this year. So much depth.
  5. And we need more of that and less reading at the line. With Nathaniel's improvement, our depth, and experience, i hope we see more of that. Something else I really like about this year is the play calling has become much more diverse and unpredictable. Alot of that comes back to Nathaniel again. I could not be prouder of that kid.
  6. Ol Comet is still at it I see.
  7. Im shocked at the difference in this senior class this year. Bailey is just as strong but faster, Nathaniel is a completely different QB and probably the best SR QB we have had since Boyles, the entire OL/DL is playing at a very high level right now. We HAVE GOT TO CLEAN UP STUPID PENALTIES. But with Judd and Damon slowly but surely getting better and better our backfield keeps getting stronger and stronger. Nathaniel connected with 6 different recievers last night, so he is going through his reads and being effecient. He was 18/21 for 307 according to ADI. I dont think any of us expected those numbers from him this year, no matter who we played. Especially completing 85% of his passes. Looking foward, Greenup has a solid defense and will be a much better test to how we have grown since week 0 offensively.
  8. ^^^and what a welcome it was lol. Like i said though, he did jump right back up and try to chase him down. But thats the big difference with Bailey this year. In the past, he would just bull you over or drag you. Now, he still does those things, but once he gets a glimps of daylight he is gone.
  9. I love watching those types of games.
  10. I hate that anyone in 3A not named Belfry is down this year or atleast so it seems. Simply bc Belfry is so darn good this year. Wish their was a finess team with the same potential to face them in BG.
  11. Jerome and Isaac have been defensive staples for the Rams for the last two or 3 seasons. The difference this year though is all they have to do is play defense. Couple that with the depth we have a DE, Tyus gives us size, strength and atheticism, Carmen is a bruit and explosive. Christian is a more finess DE with a crazy rip/spin move i saw twice tonight. LBs are playing much better. We are so much faster this year than we have been. Im shocked at the growth in Nathaniel and the speed we have from last year to this year. Things are starting to gelll. But we have to quit the getting smacked in the mouth to wake us up. Very sloppy start. But we could have scored 100 tonight if we wanted to. Good luck to east the rest of the way.
  12. Raceland was sluggish to start but settled down. Bailey Walker destroyed a kid on his first TD run. One of the hardest "trucks" ive seen on the football field. The kid actually rolled head over heels backward. But to his credit, jumped back up and never quit on the play. East has some nice size and atheleticism up front and in the backfield. How they r struggling is beyond me, bc they pass the eye test. Rams also had two beefers get into the endzone. Jerome Hall either scored a TD with a goal line rush or a two point conversion while Jared Manis recovered a Chase Love fumble and rolled into the endzone.
  13. Pikeville still having issues upfront? Score is suprising me. Looks like the defending champs have some cracks in the foundation. Im sure they will get in shored up by seasons end.
  14. Greenups def is solid but i have been skeptical of all the Flemming Co talk. I dont see anyone in that 3A district that impresses me much.
  15. Racelands schedule rarely has a sub .500 team on their schedule. Very few schools can say that. Something ele to factor in, even though our district only has 3 teams, its pound for pound the toughest from top to bottom in 1A. We play our area big dawg in Ashland. Valley is year in and year out in the top 10 of their region. West always has atheletes, Coal Grove was always massive, Ironton is Ironton and even when they are down, much like Ashland and Valley, are a solid and hard team to beat. Lawrence Co loses the house every couple of years, but are always a solid opponent. Russell and Greenup atent push overs by any stretch and West Carter is on an upswing. We schedule one or two more OH teams and/or top tier Southeastern/Central/Lex KY program and its a tough schedule. If we can continue to develope solid depth like we have this year, theres no reason we shouldnt do that. It IS a money thing like Doc said. BUT, I see the other side to. Idc if Belfry or JC beats us 50-0, if we have the numbers like we do, we should start playing the more "title-esk" teams.
  16. Beechwood and Raceland have tried for years to work something out. But it has always interefered with the Ashland date or a date of a district game. It will work itself out.
  17. Heck schedule the packers...that make DJ Spindoc happy?lol all in fun. I get what he is saying. But there is FAR more to scheduling games than just two teams reaching an agreement.
  18. Personally, I would like to see us expand on our schedule. Lexington Christian was a big loss when they left for 2A. Id like to see us get them, Hazard, Pikeville, or some other south eastern my or Lexington teams on the schedule again. Beechwood has invited us to Skyline Bowl several times, but it always falls on the Ashland date and we arent missing that gate $$.
  19. I would like to see us TCB early. With all the goings on in Ramland this weekend coupled with next week's rivalry match up with Benadict Grizzle and company (joking lol), if we are truly a championship caliber team, we need to score early and often, keep their offense off the field, and have this game wrapped up by atleast halftime, imo.
  20. As any program does, we will have years that we go through some growing pains. But dont expect those cracks in the foundation to become wholes that cause jerico to come tumbling down. We will be fine.
  21. Imo, this can be as much of a statement game as Ashland was. This game has for one reason or another always taken the Rams 4 quarters to get a running clock/blow out. The next stride the Rams need to take is killer instinct. Both as players and coaches. Get out there, punch them in the mouth and rest your 1s. Its time that mentality is developed.
  22. The improvement I saw from week 1 to week 2 was great. WRs and RBs looked much better and the OL improved and looked a step quicker than they did against West. Nathaniel has been nothing but consistent and solid in both games. Time for the LBs to step up and the return game to come around. Which is exactly what I expect to happen. This isnt the game that the Rams put it all together though, but imo, it shouldnt be. I think they will be a bit hungover from the win and Putnam, but this is the 2016 home debut, the all class reunion, and HOF game. So with that said, Im going with the Rams in a route. Raceland 42 EC 14
  23. I didnt see two stellar defenses. I saw two offenses that are struggling with a lack of identity. Warnock and Conley were both under used. Both teams tried to run the jet and stretch too much. Neither OC let their backfield get into a rythm. Both have a long way to go to get to where they hope to be.
  24. My take aways... 1. Nathaniel Davidson is emerging as a very good QB and has grown leaps and bounds since last year. 2. The recievers have grown up since last week. 3. In general the passing game is starting to click. 4. Bailey is solid and faster than last year. Judd, and Damon are solidifying the back field. Damon just needs to get down hill quicker, much like he did on the last drive. Judd Adkins is slowly making his way to being the number 2 back. These two along with Octavious, will be key in our offense going from solid, to explosive. My biggest take aways though: *This is the most conditioned Ram squad I have seen, maybe ever. *Our DL is going to give people fits this year but our LB play has to get better. They had no answer for Isaac, Jerome, Tyus, Christian, Morgan, or Justin Fairchild. There was NO GETTING THE EDGE. Whitt, Bays, and Bailey have to do better getting to the inside gap quicker and wrap the heck up. When the pocket collapsed, Ashland found their only offense on a scramble. Big difference though, is our team speed kept those 20 yard scrambles from being 50 yard TD runs. Also, our DBs played great outside of one or two plays. Josh Clark's deflection was huge. This game shouldnt have been a game, should have been a 38 point production. We are growing though. Like what I am seeing.
