If anyone knows how Nathan Brinkman of Russell is doing after he went down with an injury let us know.

Congrats to both teams on a heck of a game.

TJ says it's a shoulder injury for Brinkman.

Russell completely shut Greenups offense down. I think we finished with close to 50 total yrds.

How did GC miss the point after try? Miss kick or stopped on 2pt try?

stopped on 2pt try

Russell completely shut Greenups offense down. I think we finished with close to 50 total yrds.

Sounds like both squads did a good job of doing that to the other.

I didnt see two stellar defenses. I saw two offenses that are struggling with a lack of identity. Warnock and Conley were both under used. Both teams tried to run the jet and stretch too much. Neither OC let their backfield get into a rythm. Both have a long way to go to get to where they hope to be.

Painful loss for GC . I thought they matched Russell play for play . Both O's looked rather putrid . GC set up to kick and the holder took off when he received the snap . Could have been a fake .

Geez, this rivalry hasn't lacked for 4th quarter drama the last few years. Greenup keeps inching closer and closer but came up just short again.

The Musketeers committed five turnovers on the night and kept giving Russell great field position, but Russell couldn't capitalize. Time and time again, Greenup's D bailed out the offense by turning the Devils away(or did the Devils turn themselves away?). Russell had maybe 160 yards of offense at most. Conley had a pretty quiet night. Isaiah Greene deserves a shout out for playing a great game in Greenup's secondary.

Like GC_football266 said, GC had no more than about 50-60 yards of offense for the game. Russell's front seven is tough. They completely stuffed Greenup's run game.

The pieces are there for both of these teams to be pretty good. But, they've got miles to go. Fortunately, it's early and there's plenty of time to iron out the kinks, of which there are many.

Best of luck to the Musketeers from here on out.

Sounds like it was a great , defensive football game. I am still old school in a lot of ways so I like that. Congrats to Russell on the win and to GCHS for basically playing the Devils even at the Hank.

This confirms what I was thinking about both of these teams .... this season "battles for the county" are going to be great ones. Raceland has dominated both for a few years now but that's over. Raceland will have one helluva time beating either team, GC or Russell, "If" the Rams win either game.

Any thoughts on the biggest play of the game , In the 4th GC bobbled a punt , the punter took off and gained 30-40 yards to set GC up nicely and retain the ball but it was called back on a what looked like a bogus call to me . GC was able to crush a Russell defender out in the flat and the kid got blindsided , they didn't call it a clip , said illegal contact or something, looked like a clean football play to me , kid didn't go up high .

I may have actually given both offenses too much credit. The ADI credits Russell with just 119 yards of offense and Greenup with 26, including minus-6 on the ground.

stopped on 2pt try
Does Greenup County not have a kicker, or was this a case of going for the win?
