If you watched the game, the OLine stood and watched every play. No linemen on the ground, going after a second level defender or staying on a block until the play was over. Very disappointed in this aspect of Russell's game.

 

Did you watch the game or just don't understand football? O line is not played on the ground. If you are on the ground you are a poor O lineman. Russell did have trouble with picking up the blitzing linebackers between the guard and center, that can be corrected. Stick to 1A football.

Its not the blockers fault he didnt see it coming , happened right in front of me to, that call changed the game .

 

How did that call change the game. Russell did not take advantage of the field position that play gave them. The return man did not score on the play. No way that Greenup was going to drive the ball on Russell's defense even if that play had stood.

In a defensive game like that 50-60 yards of field position matters greatly . Thats my position. It would have been HUGE for GC as they would had the ball at Russell's 25 or 30 ( with fresh downs and momentum) instead of 4th down on their own 20 . And GC had already scored once , so it is possible from that close they might have scored .

Well, football expert. I was referring to being on the ground in respect to at least giving effort. You don't have to resort to name calling. Ask TJ if his OLine played well. I am sure he will agree with me. Thanks for having a good discussion with me and sharing thoughts on what happened but as usual, no class wins out and you have to resort to name calling. If I had to guess, I'd say the OL will be priority #1 this week at practice. When a back of Conley's caliber never really gets to the second level of the defense, something's not right with the big guys up front. Not to mention, the consistent pressure Greenup got on Austin Smith.

And just so you know, I mean no disrespect by calling out your OLine but as you stated, Conley et al will have difficulty all year if they don't get this fixed. Even though 8-26 seems to like to name call, he is correct about your QB needing to get better. Landon Brewer is too talented to not be able to make a difference in the passing game.

The O lines for both teams were not able to control the D line of either team. Russell must do something with the O line or it's going to be a long season. Lets not forget just how well the linebackers played for Greenup. I would say that this was the worst offensive performance by Russell in the 16 years that I have been attending games.
