Is Russellville really the number one team in the class? Is the NEKY District going to be the most exciting district in the state with all three teams in the top 10? Who belongs where? Who will we see make a move after this week? Who could drop out of the Top 10 all together?

I still think 1A is a pretty competitive class. I look forward to following 1A this year. Quality wise they aren't at the level of 2A but this is still a pretty competitive class looking at these rankings.

And I don't think anyone is a sure-fire titlist. I think at least six of these teams could make it to Bowling Green and can win it when they get there.

Agreed. That makes it a lot of fun.

Unlike last year, when they had exceptional senior leadership, Beechwood is a young team with room to grow (or go sideways). I've always felt they are the best coached team in NKy, and they have started fast. If they continue to grow with experience, watch out.

As of now, the rankings look good. I'm in agreement that more than five teams could win state at this point.

Right now, I think the top 6 in 1A are all very capable of winning a title this year. That is the most legitimate contenders in 1A in a while. Usually it is no more than 4 teams in 1A that look like legitimate title contenders.

There could be a couple more added to the mix if the teams keep playing well and get better. I think Fairview could get into the mix. I believe they played Hazard very tough till Hazard pulled away at the end.

If Pikeville doesn't turn the ball over then I am going to say a running clock. Hazard kept them in the game. But Fairview improved from there loss and could of gotten better since then but I'm going with Pikeville in this one.

Thing always true in 1A is that most teams are usually one key injury away from their season going sideways. Like last year, if Stringer doesn't go out late in the season, BW clearly wins it all. If Pugh gets hurt for Pikeville, they don't get by Paintsville last year and even make it to BG. The point being, most 1A schools do not have the depth to absorb a key injury. So, I see at least the top 4 having the potential when healthy to make the deep run.
