Congratulations to St. X. The game had a chance to be very close but St. X's discipline made the difference tonight. 3 BG fumbles, 1 int CANNOT happen against St. X. Win/lose I love this series.

I had the pleasure to play for coach Griff his first two years at BG. In that time he played a significant role in taking a 5-6 squad to 11-1. He WAS a player's coach in the sense that he cared for his players on more than an athletic level. He expected nothing less than your best on and off the field. I watched him take some of the worst attitudes and help them become successful teammates and students. When I look back on my elementary, middle school, and high school football, basketball, and baseball time he is the coach that stands out the most. My brother also played for him and will say the same thing. I cannot speak for his time at Boone but that man has my and many other Purple's faith in his coaching ability for what its worth.

Central was very tough during those years. However they found a way to climb back after the GW years, yet again. I hate no other school more than Central but have always had a ton of respect for them. Played against alot of friends there, got stomped by the Riley crew in BBall, and played the Whitney and Worm connection in football. As much as I hated them I ALWAYS looked forward to the rivalry. I would hate to see them take a hit again because I think many others appreciate that rivalry too!

I think you misunderstood the post. But thats is generally the fault of the writer so I apologize. If the brothers metaphor lost you then either you were not a brother or I failed to correctly utilize the metaphor. I am not ripping the SW football team, I am ripping their fans. Like my previous post said, Im proud of any local kids who represent our area. However fan arrogance in every form is annoying to others, but an unearned arrogance is repulsive. I call them little brother when it comes to football only. And in that respect, with an undefeated record against GW I could say worse. With SW they are new, unproven, still two classes below where they belong, and by every standard "the little brother" to BGs f-ball program. As for your hypothesized daughter, that is fine. Not sure where you were going with this though, because I was not talking about the schools in general, just football.

I agree but at the same time I also understand SW and Greenwood's fan base. When you are the youngest brother and your older brother just seems to be incredible at everything and draws a lot of attention.................what does the younger brother do? He gets loud every time he does even the smallest thing right. Ties his shoe, shows dad. Makes a free throw, tells dad. Learns to jump rope, watch this dad. In SW case: Win a game: go out to eat and celebrate. Win 3 games in a row: alert the world and remind them daily. Win 13 games in a row for the first time: demand that you ARE the program, you ARE the future, and the big brother (who has a HISTORY of winning, success, and has duplicated and elevated above your success level more times than you can count) is now irrelevant and takes a back seat to you. In GW case: I really don't know for them. They just are not a football school and have no hope. I never lost to them, my brother never lost to them, no BG player has EVER lost to them. They have always played 3rd or 4th fiddle in the area. Now with SW being good......well :no:

I could not be more proud of SW representing our area with great success, but really? 48 game win streak 5? State title visits 3 state titles in 10 years and South Warren is no THE program in the area after a BG loss??? No sir. I am rooting for SW as I would any BG area team left but this is funny.

While I agree it would have been MUCH more interesting I think you are taking a little too much away from those BG teams. Highlands is Highlands but this decade BG is BG. Both excellent programs who would not find either of each other to be a cakewalk.
