I think you can make this same point about a lot of teams, HHS, Ryle, Henry Clay, South Warren for examples. Put any of these in a any region besides, 4, 7, 9, 11 or 12 and how many more regional titles do they have?

Obviously these two keepers played a big role in their 18 shutouts this season. But lets not forget the other roster players played very important roles as well. Talk with any knowledgeable soccer person and everyone of them will tell you a shutout is considered such a good thing because it requires a total team effort. The strikers putting good pressure on the opponents back line, midfielders winning balls and pressuring, and of course the defensive backs being disciplined, organized, not making mistakes, and playing great also all go into earning the team a clean sheet.

I know this topic has been discussed and rediscussed over the years. And good points can be made for voting before the post season begins, but put me in the column to wait until the END of the season, after the State Championship has concluded. Schnieder's post season this year may be the perfect example. Voting before the post season begins puts zero value, gives zero credit for what a player or players accomplish during the most important and hardest part of the season, the post season.

Great point YC. I commend both NDA and HHS for getting some top level OH teams on their schedule.

I'm not bashing St X, they have a great school and soccer program. Since their State Championship in 2012, St X has not even won a regional title. Trinity winning in 2013, 14, and 15 has a lot to do with this. This season Collegiate knocked them both off in the 7th Region. PL Dunbar won Region 11 in 2012, 13, and 14. Bowling Green wins Region 4 is 2012, 13, 14, and 15. As previously pointed out the last back to back Region 9 titles was in 2009/10. Taking a look at some of the top regions, region 4,7, 9,11, and 12 in boys soccer, interesting enough Region 9 and 12 (play each other in first round) are the only ones this season to have back to back Championships. Since something like 2004 or so only teams from these 5 Regions have won the State Championship.

Maher ranking has NDA with a strength of schedule of 25, HHS a 51. As I mentioned on the boys side, Maher strength of schedule is NOT an opinion, it is generated by statistics. 50 teams in KY have played a tougher schedule then HHS and 24 of them have played a tougher schedule then NDA. justsayin, says it just right, "What isn't evident,(in the still photo) is what was the movement of the player on the right?" Everyone has seen many, many times the offensive player standing in an offsides position when the ball is played then moves back into an onsides position before she receives the ball, which of course means she is offsides. I wasn't in position to say if this happened or not. My point is it does happen a lot and this photo alone does NOT prove she was onsides when the ball was played.

NDA field has no lights, equal you can not host a regional or state tournament game on their home field. NDA will host at Dixie Heights HS, kickoff at 7PM. I haven't seen WJ play but my guess is they will be surprised how athletic and skilled NDA is and they will struggle to play against both of these attributes.

Congratulations CCH on back to back Regional titles. I believe this is the first back to back 9th region titles since Scott won it in 2009/10. I think back to mid July and not a lot of people thought CCH would be here in the end and for good reason. Loosing 18 seniors, 8 and sometimes 9 of which started last season is not easy for any program to over come. Add none of the current juniors or sophomores on this team were even on the varsity roster before this season, let alone had ANY varsity experience. Clearly Coach Robertson and his staff have ton a tremendous job molding this team into what they have become. IMO he is the run away winner of coach of the year. Good luck on Tuesday, the road to a repeat State Championship keeps on getting shorter with every win.

CCH 1 - Ryle 0

Thanks to both for clarifying the rule and for giving another opinion. Like I said from my view which was behind the play, it looked like a tackle from behind. I do agree he took to long to play the ball. Schutt, Stava, and Vogt did have good games (again) amongst others. I thought Cody (CCH keeper) also did well, he does a good job of reading the game/making good decisions and is strong player for them. Nice to see the Stava brothers on the field together for a few minutes. Both are quality players that play with passion and always play hard.

As I mentioned in post #7 in the North Oldham 3 Simon Kenton 0 thread, "Very difficult to beat a team 3 times in the same season when the two teams are competitive with each other." So the result is not a surprise but the 4-0 score sure is.

I saw this one (with regard to controlling the match) going back and forth. Both teams struggled early, St Henry controlled for 15-20 minutes then CCH gets their first goal with about 12 minutes remaining in the first half and did a good job controlling the rest of the half. St Henry comes out to start the second half and does a good job pressuring CCH but their back line and Cody play great again denying everything. Then CCH scores with 27 minutes on the clock and gets a hold of the game again. A bad CCH turnover in their attacking third somehow allows St Henry to counter and they give up the lone St Henry goal with under 3 minutes. To me it was a game of 5 periods, St Henry controlling 2, CCH controlling 2 and 1 of just bad soccer by both teams but completely dictated by the weather conditions. Surprised no one has mentioned this, from my view Foster (CCH) is fouled hard from behind in the box, should have been a PK. I heard someone say the St Henry defender may have gotten the ball, but it is my understanding of the rule, a tackle from behind is always a foul even if you get the ball. Congrats to CCH on the win the still defending their title! Congrats to St Henry on a good season. St Henry's student body turn out was impressive, great job! As for CCH, where were the Crazies? Get out and support your schoolmates on Saturday, no excuse.

That indirect kick/goal was a very strange play. Can't not think of a reason why the referee does not give a yellow card to the keeper, but it's a huge favor to Boone Co because it does not stop play, allowing their players to very wisely take the restart very quickly, brilliant on their part.

From the Trinity HS athletic webpage. Collegiate scores in the 35th minute, 1- 0 at the half. Trinity ties it up in the 47th minute. Collegiate scores the winner in the 53rd minute.

Thanks imsays. Having to sleep on this, think about being down 1-0 for 20 some hours is a tough position for any team to be in.

Doubtful this game is restarted tonight. Since it is in the second half does anyone know if this game as it stands right now, Boone up 1-0, will go in the books, Boone wins? Or will they restart it from this point tomorrow?

Not sure what tournaments your kid is playing in warbeagle, but a lot of what you are experiencing (9-0, 10-1 results) I have not seen from around the time my kids were U10 or so. Most HS age tournaments, at least the decent player level to elite player level have changed quite a bit in the last 7-8 years. With the exception of State Cup tournaments most are showcase type events where the players play one game per day over 3 days. Some such as the Disney event at the end of December will play a consultation and championship round, giving 4 teams a 4th game played on the 4th day. And these better tournaments, Disney, CASL, Crossroads, etc do a pretty good job of bracketing teams, 9-0 and 10-1 type games are unheard of in these type tournaments, at least in the upper divisions. Most games are very very competitive and a lot of the games are played as a MRL game, so obviously bracketing is very competitive. I'm not sure I have ever seen a 50lb weight difference , (at any position, let alone "every position") in any game any of my kids have played, likely over 1000 games. That is a lot of weight difference for kids between the age of 7 to 18 playing soccer.

This (Oldham Co Vs N Oldham Co) would be a very interesting and exciting final. Very difficult to beat a team 3 times in the same season when the two teams are competitive with each other. The first two games' results prove without a doubt these two teams play each other very competitively. Do you have Oldham Co winning the region a little prematurely?

The follwing stats do not include CCH's two 10-0 District matches, so these numbers will go up, as an example I think Lamb had 4-5 goals and at least a few assists and Stava maybe had a few of each also in these two games. Goals & Assists Lamb, 21 &12 Stava 10 &7 Deimling 7&7 Stegman 7 & 4 Wulfeck 6 & 3 Blom 6 & 2 (out injured) Schutt 2 & 5 I think a few follow with 5 goals each. I would imagine Lamb will be at or near the top of a lot of people's POY list. He's likely passed, at or very close to 25 & 15 once the stats are updated. Factor in CCH's SoS of 53, great production against very good competition.

I would agree with Sir!, " a little more than "not much of a game", but I think 2011 through (actually) 2014 mean nothing. Things can really tighten up in single elimination play. I would expect CCH to see lots of opponents' players in the box , 9-10 behind the ball at all times (unless or until CCH can get up a couple of goals) in every 9th region tournament game they play. The difficult part about this Vs CCH, they have lots of players capable of scoring. Lamb is always a threat to either score or assist, well over double digits in both columns and is a real crafty player. They have 5 other players with 6 or more goals and 5 or more assists, and this against good teams, SoS of 53. Who are you going to focus on and can you keep this many options from scoring? I'll go with the Maher projection (3+) CCH 4 - NCC 0.
