Complete game shutouts

Wow..Daviess Co. Gk T. Croft with 18 shutouts. Congrats to him and his defense.

Sounds very similar to the 18 shutouts posted by Ryle, and Will Bedel, this season.

I also know they only gave up 5 goals, in 23 matches, against KY schools this season.

Obviously these two keepers played a big role in their 18 shutouts this season. But lets not forget the other roster players played very important roles as well. Talk with any knowledgeable soccer person and everyone of them will tell you a shutout is considered such a good thing because it requires a total team effort. The strikers putting good pressure on the opponents back line, midfielders winning balls and pressuring, and of course the defensive backs being disciplined, organized, not making mistakes, and playing great also all go into earning the team a clean sheet.

Agree. That's why I credited defense. Every player has important role and it's a joint effort.

Absolutely!! I've seen clean sheets where the keeper wasn't asked to make one big-time save...so much credit given to the players in front of GK.

Ditto for me... and my comments in post #2.

Saturday's 9th Region Final is a perfect example of this.

IMO, of the two goalies, Bedel had the better performance.

Thomas was not tested nearly as much, I give this credit to the entire CCH team.

Perfect point, well said!
