  1. The flubbed field goal and muffed punt was a turning but without the pick six this game likely came down to the last play. Physically and talent wise they seemed even. Birds had more mistakes.
  2. These teams are as evenly matched as they’ve been in a while.
  3. With high 90s forecast and almost 100 Friday, will practice and any games be impacted?
  4. A lot fewer QB draws this time. Minus the offsides on two fourth downs and the dropped long ball this would have been or close to 35-0 running clock in fourth. Seemed like good adjustment after the first two GC drives by the CCH defense to get penetration and stop the run game. When the QB ran it wasn’t just up the middle and a nice change from the incessant draws up the gut. If not for the injuries the game next week could be competitive but it’s going to take a perfect game and some innovative plays to hang I’m afraid.
  5. Being a football fan means watching games stating what you think about it. Asking questions as a fan about the play calling isn’t turning on the ole ball coach. My big concern would be he doesn’t feel has the personnel to call something else. And if not showing was the strategy I agree with the above this game was too big not to try. So I don’t think that’s it. Roll out side the pocket just once with a run pitch pass options? And the colonels are better than most teams in the state so no panic or anything. But if 40-50% of your plays are QB draws I’m asking why.
  6. It was frustrating in 2020 to watch in Jacobs, a senior QB with two state championships played in, reduced to this QB draw every play. I assumed there weren’t any receivers Eddie trusted to call the pass plays or the line to protect him. Now it’s the third year of that. I’m no expert but two weeks to prepare for your arch rival with playoff implications and I saw nothing Highlands didn’t see on film all year. The way the Birds defense was dominating I was surprised they didn’t onside kick every time.
  7. As I said the QB draw every other play had no chance. Even though they were outplayed, interesting to see if the colonels could have held on for the ugly win if the interception went different. One player was going to pick it and be able to run it pretty far upfield but the player diving in front of him had to fall down on the one. Safety and kick return results. After the three turnovers and the colonel only positive play was the 20 yard TD pass the writing waS on the wall.
  8. Does Eddie not have new plays? This is hard to watch these draws every other pay.
  9. The 1982 playoff? Bankamper over the top on fourth down? Was it overtime?
  10. Much improved Colonels. If they improve a little each week they can contend. If Pitzer starts hitting in the pass game they could become really good. Didn’t think they’d show this physicality. Also been missing a kicking game last year. Better there too so far.
  11. CovCath was near the bottom of 5A on number of students and assume they still are. But if they had enough big guys who were capable I’m am sure they would lovE to platoon. Don’t think they have the numbers of big enough guys. Need to get junk yard dog attitude going.
  12. I’ve wondered about the play calling with the available personnel for last couple seasons. Doesn’t feel like the playbook changes for no Mayers
  13. When was the last time someone other than Highlands and CovCath won the district?
  14. Can it be SK is pretty good and bigger physically?
  15. Last year wasn’t as lopsided as the score indicated but this year may be different. Hopefully Elders graduation losses help the Colonels stay in the game.
  16. 35-10 Elder maybe. Hope the Colonels learned a lot this week and Coach E makes some adjustments.
  17. SKs last score shouldn’t have been as the ref blew a call that should have given CCH a first down late with a chance to tie. That said SK was the better team tonight.
  18. After watching SK/CCH if they are in the top five NKY is down.
  19. Cov Cath is down. No QB really as yet. Losing Zion hurt the D too SK is decent and Crohn pretty good QB.
