  1. On a different note: the guy who did the announcing at the game was an embarrassment. They should at least have someone who is somewhat interested in the game doing it. He called the wrong name for players coming on the pitch, and at least twice called the wrong name for players who scored. He even awarded a goal to a kid who wasn't on the field at the time it was scored.
  2. I would love to see a big turn out for the game. For some seniors it's going to be their final high school soccer game!
  3. Everyone in the stands saw it, whether they admit it or not...
  4. I don't know the names of all the at. Henry players, but they all played their heart out last night. They knew they had strong competition with Boone, who also put up a great fight. St. Henry #2 never took his eyes off Mayberry who would be a huge threat. Great to see defender #13 scoring for St. Henry. I must mention St. Henry #11, he was on the field the entire game and kept the Boone defenders busy all night, keeping the play up top and setting up plays. He had a few good shots on goal that the goalie did a good job saving, and his free kick led to the second goal, a nice finish by #16. Looks like after a slow start to the season, St. Henry ironed out the kinks and started to play well together as a team. Great team effort last night. Good luck in the finals.
  5. The BB goalie did the same thing in their match with St. Henry back in regular season. He saved the first pk but was clearly off his line so the ref called it back, and St. Henry converted on the next take. The goalie did the very same thing in the dying minutes of the game, came at least 3 feet off his line and saved another pk, which resulted in a loss for St. Henry. The AR saw him coming off the line, but the ref wouldn't call it back.
  6. The GRC goalie is one of the best Club goalies out there, and a nice kid too. Some kids from Scott, Cov Cath and St. Henry, are all on the same top level club team. They play some pretty sweet soccer together.
  7. On a different note, I think it's a pity that, even though the first round of regionals was being played at St. Henry's home field, neither the school principal or assistant principal thought it worthwhile to attend, even though their own boys soccer team were participating. It was nice to see several teachers there, in an unofficial capacity, to support the boys.
  8. That first experience listening to the Ryle announcer is quite something alright! It gets more and more annoying as the nights, seasons, years go on!!!
  9. Final from Erlanger. St. Henry should have won this, they dominated and had at least 80% possession through the whole game. For some reason they came out asleep in the second half, NCC picked up on the lack of energy and scored at about 5 minutes into second half. St. Henry tried to equalize, but NCC kept everyone back for the remainder of the game and St. Henry just couldn't break through.
  10. Yes, Cov Cath to win by 3 or 4 goals. Dixie's only goal against St. Henry was an own goal off a deflection. The Dixie defense was weak, but the goalie saved a few great shots on goal. He deserved his All Tournament award.
  11. It'll be interesting because when the Dixie goalie is on form he's a beast!
  12. The draw is expected to take place between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm today.
  13. Please, please don't bring Scott into this thread... It'll go on forever!
  14. Good report, groinpull, and a perfect summation of Holy Cross's typical game play.
  15. Absolute stellar performance by the Dixie keeper, I don't know how he made some of the saves. He saved a few great shots by Lannon and Meyers. He deserved his All Tournament award! I didn't know the Dixie goal was an own goal, I'm a bit surprised to hear that...
  16. Thanks for the laugh on this dull and dreary morning!
  17. Must give credit where credit is due.. Good job Scott on a resounding win last night, and judging by the relatively few cards, two or three yellow?, sounds like a pretty clean match physically and verbally.
  18. Congrats to Highlands, but what a heartbreaker for NCC. Sounds like an epic game of soccer.
