groinpull Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 This was all CCH from the opening whistle. HC went into a defensive shell almost immediately and CCH had 80-90% of the possession. They finally broke through about 15-20 mins into the game on a Joe Schuh goal crossed from the right side. HC huddled up and that appeared to be the event that drew them out of their defensive posture and they opened up and started playing. CovCath continued to have almost all the possession despite the change and goals by Ballow and I think Litzler made it 3-0 at half and the game was essentially over with HC's limited offensive push. I believe they ended the game with no shots on goal and a single corner kick. I would say that I give a lot more credence to the Cooper side of the story when they had the dust-up w/ HC earlier this year in their game. After the first CCH goal the HC players got their hack on and it was one foul after another and they continuously tried starting scuffles w/ the CCH players. If I recall, probably 6 yellow cards issued to HC vs 1 to CCH but I didn't keep exact count. Liberal subbing by CCH in the second half and all the hacking/fouling/game stoppages kept it at 3-0 for the remainder, although as usual CCH had some very poor finishing attempts in front of the goal. Would have been nice to pour it on HC a little more with the way they were playing and hacking.
WatThe Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Good report, groinpull, and a perfect summation of Holy Cross's typical game play.
hoops5 Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Would have been nice to pour it on HC a little more with the way they were playing and hacking. And this would have accomplished what?

Seems like a very similar storyline and score, throw in some bad blood and what I will call intent, and this does sound like the HC/Cooper match I watched earlier this year. Glad to hear that the CCH boys did not get sucked in and kept their focus and got the win.
groinpull Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 And this would have accomplished what? It would have resulted in more goals scored and a higher margin of victory and given HC's style of play, that is exactly what they deserved. You are offended by a team wanting to score more than three goals vs. a team that is more interested in hacking and fighting? That's exactly how you respond to a team like that.
AliasJK Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 No goals in second half? A little surprising?

I only asked a question, and you answered in turn. No need to read anything into that.
Oldtimebaseball84 Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Card count...... HC 6 yellows......including one for the coach CCH 1 yellow..I think.....ref never actually showed it to him....CCH player was backing in trying to gain position near the goal and he and the defender tangled . As the HC player was going down ( probably caused by the CCH player) he grabbed the CCH player and brought him with him. Then dove on top of him and prohibited him from getting up. Instant yellow to HC and a yellow (possibly) to the CCH player to calm things down. On a side note....HC family and friends......good luck in the regionals. BUT.....please.....please......in the next games, wherever they may take you....Sit in the stands on YOUR teams half of the 50 yard line. As competition moves forward, and if your style of play remains the same, sitting intermingled amongst the other teams family and fans has the real opportunity of causing real friction
Futbolfan Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 There seems to be a lot of animosity towards holy cross for just playing hard. Both teams were running there mouths throughout the game. However, it was 2-0 and cov cath player committed an obvious foul. From then on the chipping went back and forth mainly starting from number 7 on cov cath. Ill I hear is just excuses on why the score was only 3-0. And if I recall from the Cooper game it was completely even in the foul standpoint. And the only player to receive a red card was Cooper.

Your team was getting schooled and couldn't handle it and reverted to hacking and trash talking. And no excuses for only 3-0, like I said, we should have put the hammer down and pounded them but didn't.
Futbolfan Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 (edited) It's not my school first of all. Secondly I just love to hear people make excuses. It fills me with joy. I would hope the almighty Cov Cath could out posses the "hacks" of Holy Cross. You people amaze me Edited October 18, 2014 by True blue (and gold) Rule 13
Futbolfan Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Good teams play through hacks anyway period. Not saying cov cath is not a good team. I just can't stand when people REVERT to making excueses. Suprised having 5 starters for HC sit the bench too. There coach did not pit them back in. Showing another example of how the 1st string offense could not score on HC second string. Eventually cov cath I believe in the 25 min marker he took out all remaining starters.

There's a big difference between playing hard and playing dirty.
