  1. Including Tuesday games of this week which is a pattern that has this report a day or two later than most region's update. 1) Bullitt East (20-4)- A 7 point win over Bryan Station and then comfortable double digit victories over CAL plus a 20 point win over district foe JTown. BE hitting stride and the top spot is theirs as it has been all season. Looking ahead they play rival North Bullitt which lost to the same JTown team that BE beat by 20. I do not expect any losses here on out until post season and then they will enter district/regional as the favorite to advance to Rupp. Sharpe continues to lead, but Rakes is also playing very well and Farris is the most reliable big man in the 6th. 2) Doss (20-4)- Doss had 4 wins as they had a few easy games where they took care of business with blow outs and a nice double digit win over Waggener. They are the clear cut #2 team and despite an early loss to Fern Creek in December they now appear to be the most likely threat to overtake BE in Regional play to perhaps return to Rupp. The new additions that transferred in for their senior seasons to Doss have been the difference as they each lead the team in scoring on most nights, Kenyi Bryant & Kelshawn Knight-Goff. 3) Fern Creek (14-10)- Fern Creek beat Whitefield Academy by 65, but loss to Scott County the following day by 25 points themselves in what was their worst loss to any KY team. The following game they got their PG, Anthony Wales, back after missing almost a month from an injury and his return was immediately felt when he hit a 3 point shot at the buzzer to defeat Fairdale. They have a rematch coming up with Central from the LIT and then play Valley which should be a great match up of young 6th region teams who are in contention. Tony Washington continues to lead in scoring. 4) North Bullitt (21-4)- Despite having the most season wins (21) and region wins (9) they had a week that sort of proves out that their record is built in large part to who they have played. Playing at home they won in overtime in a game versus Moore 64-62 and then loss to JTown 85-77. These are teams with sub .500 records although they each are playing better as of late. Until NB can actually beat the top teams they are likely ranked higher than they may finish in post play in the region. The younger Dunnavan brother has stepped in his brother's role from last season as the most reliable scorer in recent games. 5) Valley (17-9)- Valley went 2-1 with a big win over PRP by 3 points and a narrow loss to Butler by 2. Eric George continues to lead this young team who plays Fern Creek on Friday that will be a great match up that will potentially shake the rankings near the top. 6) Butler (11-10)- Two wins over both Western and Valley vault the Butler Bears team over several teams. They are a very balanced team that Coach KC Goodin has molded into a very gritty bunch. 7) PRP (9-9)- Won easily against two over matched teams, but lost by 3 to Valley to go 2-1. They now are below .500 in the season in region play. They play Fairdale this Friday. 8) Western (10-10)- Went 1-1 losing to Butler, but beating Southern to place them in front of Southern who dropped several spots from last week. Western does not play again until next week against Moore. 9) Southern (13-10)- Went 1-1 with an easy game over Evangel and a loss to Western. They play Iroquois on Friday. 10) Jeffersontown (9-14)- JTown cracks the top 10 for the first time as they go 1-1 losing to North Oldham, but beating North Bullitt which has beaten Moore. That gives the edge to JTown to switch spots with Moore in the rankings. Delvonte McCloud continues to help JTown since he became eligible from his transfer from Doss. 11) Moore (8-13)- Two losses to the Bullitt teams, one a close 2 point loss to North and the other a 20 point loss to BE. A good game with JTown will either be canceled or postponed tonight and then they play Butler on Friday. 12) Fairdale (9-13)- Easy win over Beth Haven and a close loss to Fern Creek shows they are improving since the first of the year. After Tre Richardson left the team they have regrouped and play PRP on Friday to see if they can continue their improvement. 13) Holy Cross (9-15)- 2 losses to two good teams does not move the Holy Cross Cougars down in the rankings. 14) Beth Haven (16-9)- A pretty sound defeat to Fairdale but a rebound win over Ft. Knox by 1 leave Beth Haven unchanged. 15) DeSales (6-15)- 0-2 last week with losses to respectable teams from other regions, John Hardin and Oldham County. 16) Bullitt Central (6-15)- Has not played in the past week. 17) Iroquois (7-18)- The losses continue to mount as they go 0-3 last week and now a 12 game losing streak is even more troublesome. 18) Evangel Christian (10-10)- Went 1-2 and one of the losses was by over 40 to Southern which is why they are ranked this low even with a .500 overall record. 19) Whitefield Academy (2-23)- Three more losses. Watched them play last week and comparing the team from last season when I also watched them made me realize I have never seen a team drop so far off in talent in consecutive seasons as this team has. Last season they beat Fern Creek at home and this season against FC they lost by 65 points.
  2. Agree, but some of the out of state programs are so well funded that the ability to cover costs for travel of not only players, but also their families is hard to pass up.
  3. I only saw who was listed. Who else do they have to go with those listed?
  4. Including Tuesday games of this week. 1) Bullitt East (17-4)- A surprising loss to Bardstown does not knock BE from the #1 spot and they rebounded with a large margin victory over JTown. They still have yet to be beaten by any 6th region team this year. Next two games are also against out of region teams and should be easy victories. The loss to Bardstown may actually be a blessing in disguise as BE will not take any team lightly after that loss. 2) Doss (16-4)- Doss showed no rust from their layoff, they simply blew out 3 teams including two teams from the 6th region, PRP & Moore. They are hitting stride and clearly the #2 team ahead of Fern Creek or North Bullitt. Tony Williams is doing a very good job of coaching this season, even better than when they went to Rupp last year. 3) Fern Creek (12-9)- Fern Creek beat Waggener on the road and then lost by 3 to St. X on the road. Considered putting North Bullitt ahead of Fern Creek this week, but the same St. X team that Fern Creek just lost to by 3 in a game that Fern Creek led most of the way played North Bullitt at the LIT and NB lost by 18 points. 4) North Bullitt (20-3)- Went 3-0 since last rankings but those teams were not expected to provide any challenge. NB beat rival Bullitt Central by 12 after winning thier earlier game in the season by 5. Two teams from the 6th region await NB, Moore & JTown. 5) Valley (15-8)- Valley won all three games against Atherton, Western, & Fairdale with PRP coming up. Valley has established themselves as a clear Top 5 team in the 6th and will likely be favored to beat PRP this week. 6) Southern (12-9)- Southern had a large margin victory over Shawnee in their only game. They really do not have a signature win over a quality opponent, but they have beaten the average teams more than they have not in the 6th with a 6-5 regional record. 7) Western (9-9)- Western lost badly to Valley, but they thrashed Iroquois. They have Butler in their next game. 8) PRP (9-8)- Not a good point in the season for PRP as they lost two games in a row to Doss, this time by 15 and then were blown out by Central by 29. Holy Cross and Valley come next and they have dominated both in years past but they are vulnerable right now. They have dropped 4 in a row and 5 out of their last 6 games. 9) Butler (9-10)- Last week has produced two losses to Central and Manual. They have a chance to get back on the winning track against Western which is a rival game. 10) Moore (8-11)- Moore had 4 games and split 2-2 over the past week. The best win was a 20 point win over Atherton who is not anywhere near the top of the 7th. The worst loss was a 38 point defeat against 6th region foe Doss. 11) Jeffersontown (8-13)- JTown jumps 5 spots after going 2-1 with a win over Fairdale and also Seneca. However, they also lost to Bullitt East by almost 30. They are a much better team now than two weeks ago and will only continue to improve. 12) Fairdale (8-12)- Team has struggled of late and lost to JTown and Valley last week. They should win their next game against Beth Haven. 13) Holy Cross (9-13)- A good week for Holy Cross with a 2-1 record including a win over Somerset from the tough 12th region. 14) Beth Haven (15-8)- Lost to Holy Cross and likely is not going to beat Fairdale whom the play next. 15) DeSales (6-13)- A win over Bullitt Central by 1 gets them the nod over BC for the 15th spot, but not by much. 16) Bullitt Central (6-15)- BC had a good week going 2-2, but the wins were over Shawnee and Whitefield Academy 17) Iroquois (7-15)- Wheels have fallen off as they go 0-3 last week and nine game losing streak is troublesome. 18) Evangel Christian (9-8)- Only 1 win in the region against Whitefield against 5 losses. 19) Whitefield Academy (2-20)- Two more losses by about 50 points in each game.
  5. On paper you have to think the Magic has the most talent. If they had Trace Young that is a very big team in addition to all being D1 prospects.
  6. There is not any 15U EYBL at all. You are also correct in that the 17U EYBL is different than 16U EYBL. 17U is limited to 40 teams/programs. They play a set schedule of games with divisions much like the NBA. This regular season is played over 4 events in the Spring and based on your W-L record you qualify for Peach Jam in July live period. 16U EYBL plays a traditional tournament style format also at 4 events in the Spring of which 3 are located at the same time/venue as 17U EYBL. The events are exclusive to Nike 16U teams, but the number is higher than 40. There is a scoring system at each event where you get points for victories in pool play, winning your pool, advancing to Final Four or winning the tourney. After each tourney you have a point total and you qualify with points for Peach Jam based on your top two event scoring totals. 15U Nike dressed team/16U NIKE EYBL team/ no 17U team this year due to tough competition to be in the Top 40 of Nike program teams. Continued having a NIKE contract with significant Nike sponsorship package, including funding for travel budget. Hope that helps clear up any confusion from those speculating or guessing.
  7. Except this is the same Btown team that by over 30 to both Trinity & Southwestern and also lost to Moore who is not really doing very well this season. That is why it is a bit of a head scratcher.
  8. Well said, the bottom line is why should it matter if it is 9 kids who showed up out of nowhere or 1-2. Is 3 the cutoff or is it 4? I have no issue with the transfer issues or even recruiting since it goes on in many places. My only concern or issue is if there is a kid at any school who is playing that technically should not because they are using false credentials. Whether that is falsified grades, credits, or even age that in my book would be the impetus for crying foul. If the kids are all eligible then nobody should really care.
  9. Great list for this week and agree that it is wide open. I think Mercer is the best until they are beaten and they have several games with other ranked teams coming up soon. I wonder if the teams with the harder schedules will benefit down the road. Interesting to note that Fern Creek who I believe is outside the Top 20 with a 12-6 record against in state schools has only lost games to Teams in the Top 20 and they have a win against #4 Bowling Green. This week they play St. X and Scott County also in the Top 20. After this week they will have played 8 out of the Top 20 teams from this week. I wonder what school has played the most games against Top 20 teams? Anyone know?
  10. They may not have KY roots, but then every kid who came from out of state would need to have their team's success noted with an asterisk. It becomes a slippery slope when you look at it that way. Is it that all the kids or the vast majority have to be out of state in order to put the asterisk by their team's name or just a single player? I just do not see how it is any different from what goes on many places where kids end up in a program via ways that do not ever come to light or are at least not proven. If the Cordia kids meet eligibility requirements of the KHSAA then that is the important part to me. If there are kids who should not be eligible and they are part of the success then I would have a problem. The allegations of recruiting seem to ring a familiar tune that goes on rampantly in the schools of KHSAA so why single out Cordia?
  11. Anyone with Adidas Gauntlet knowledge know if there are different divisions of Gauntlet teams i.e. Gold/Silver? How many total teams in each division if there are indeed multiple levels of play? I hear there are 3 17U teams from KY now in Adidas circuit (Magic, HD, & Manimal) which is interesting Adidas has given the state that many spots.
  12. Spoke to a Paducah parent and they are playing in many out of state events across the border in the hopes of getting better competition without having to travel across the state of Kentucky. There are just not very many competitive teams in the 1st, and I can't see two teams from there being in the Top 20. Tilghman had been beating teams easily and the first two teams they played from the 6th & 7th region they lost to both and they were not the top teams from those regions either. Tilghman is good, but they are a victim of not being able to improve because they are not being challenged. I expect them to win the 1st in easy fashion.
  13. With many games canceled from the snow last week, I counted yesterday games in the new rankings as many teams only had a single game or none at all from last rankings. 1) Bullitt East (16-3)- Nice 15 point win over Manual and a blowout over Meade County. Still the dominating team of the region with a 4-0 record. Hats off to Tyler Sharpe, the new 3 point career record holder at Bullitt East. The young man has built quite a legacy. 2) Doss (13-4)- No games since the loss in the LIT to Male, but they deserve this ranking with Fern Creek losing again to Ballard and North Bullitt losing to North Oldham. Doss has a rematch with PRP and then should run through their next four opponents with little trouble. 3) Fern Creek (11-8)- Fern Creek beat JTown by 29, but also lost for a 2nd time to Ballard on the road by 11. The region record for FC is now 4-1 with the only loss a very close contest at Bullitt East. 4) North Bullitt (17-3)- 2-1 since last ranking with a nice win over Southern and then a very solid win over South Oldham to give them only their 2nd loss. Just when you want to reward them and bump them up, they go out and lose to North Oldham who they had beat by over 20 right before Christmas. This team shoots the three ball very well as a team with over 53% of those shots falling. Those few games they do not shoot it well are likely when they are vulnerable. 5) Valley (12-8)- Valley has not played since the LIT, but have games against Atherton, Western, Fairdale coming up. 6) PRP (9-6)- PRP has had a long break since the loss in the LIT to Doss. They have a rematch with Doss and then Central coming up. 7) Butler (9-8)- Two wins moves the Bears up as they beat Southern and DeSales. 8) Southern (11-9)- Three losses in a row to North Bullitt, Butler, and Male drop Southern. The region record is 6-5 so they are probably where they need to be ranked at the #8 spot. 9) Western (8-8)- An 18 point loss to Central is the only recent game. Western is .500 on the overall season and in region play. 10) Moore (6-9)- Moore had won 3 games in a row for the first time this season after badly beating Evangel, but lost their only recent game to Manual. They are 4-4 in the region. 11) Fairdale (7-10)- Big win over Atherton. 3-3 in region play. 12) Iroquois (7-12)- Loss streak is now 6, but 3-5 in the region. 13) DeSales (5-11)- 3-6 in regional play. 14) Holy Cross (7-12)- Holy Cross went 2-1 and have a 2-6 region record. 15) Bullitt Central (5-10)- 12 game loss streak ends with a victory on the road over JTown. 16) JTown (6-12)- JTown has now lost 5 in a row. First two games with Delvonte McCloud back. He will help, but he needs to get in basketball shape to play major minutes, 17) Beth Haven (14-7)- A win and a loss to Shawnee by 2 in the All A Classic. 18) Evangel Christian (8-7)- Only 1 win in the region against Whitefield. 19) Whitefield Academy (2-18)- Two more losses.
  14. The 6th & 7th Region top tier teams all met in the LIT last week and candidly the 7th can lay claim as the tougher region based on the results. Only (3) 6th Region teams made the quarterfinals, Doss, Fern Creek, & Bullitt East. The 7th region made a clean sweep to the semi-finals when Doss lost to Male, Fern Creek to Ballard, and Bullitt East to St. Xavier. 1) Bullitt East (14-3)- It was not the finish that many thought for Bullitt East losing in the quarterfinals. St. X has played some really good basketball lately and got the upset. However, BE easily beat 6th region foe Butler in their first game and until somebody in the 6th region knocks them off they must still be considered the clear favorite to stay atop of the region. This week should be all wins with 3 out of region opponents that are not overly dangerous threats to BE. 2) Fern Creek (10-7)- FC won their first game, but lost in the quarterfinals to eventual champion Ballard. They beat a tough Central team in their first game in overtime. They now play Jeffersontown & Southern this week to improve upon their 3-1 6th region record, but they will be without their sophomore PG, Anthony Wales, who has been playing with a pulled groin since their game in the Clem Haskins Invitational. He could be out for several weeks. 3) Doss (13-4)- Doss won their first game by double digits over PRP, but then lost by 15 to Male at the LIT. Still they are now hitting stride and deserve to be in the next top 2-3 teams behind Bullitt East. With two games this week against 6th region Jeffersontown and Moore expect Doss to show they are threats to contend. 4) North Bullitt (15-2)- NB lost in their first round game to St. X by a large margin, 63-45. They then beat Spencer County to show they take care of business when they play teams that are not serious threats. St. X is a good team, but it really is the only good team that NB has played except for the team from Washington DC and they lost both badly. PRP is their best victory and that team has lost 3 of their last 4. They play Southern this week before they again play out of region teams that are not that tough of opponents. 5) Valley (12-8)- While hosting the LIT it was a huge victory over Southern to advance to the Sweet 16 of the LIT where they lost in respectable fashion to Trinity. Big games against PRP & Western are scheduled this week. 6) Southern (11-6)- Southern lost a close game to Valley in the LIT that would have been a big boost to this team. They did bounce back beating Whitefield Academy by a large margin. This week is two tough tests that could improve their ranking if they can upset either North Bullitt or Fern Creek. 7) PRP (9-6)- In their only game last week PRP lost to Doss by 12. In this week's match-ups they play Valley and Fairdale so this could be a week where the season rebounds or gets tougher. 8) Butler (7-8)- Butler won over Western by 3 in the LIT and then lost in the round of 16 to Bullitt East by 21. They play DeSales in their only game this week. 9) Western (8-7)- In their only game of the week Western lost by 3 to Butler. THis week they play 6th region opponents Iroquois & Valley. 10) Moore (6-8)- Moore has won 3 games in a row for the first time this season after badly beating Evangel in their only game of the week. They have a tougher slate this week with Iroquois and Doss. 11) Fairdale (6-10)- Bad home loss to Seneca last week while Central & PRP await. Both of those teams are much tougher than Seneca. 12) Iroquois (7-11)- Tough home loss to Holy Cross by 4 last week takes the losing streak to 5. If they lose to Western & Moore this week the Raiders will drop significantly. 13) Jeffersontown (6-10)- Lost bad to CAL and games loom this week with Fern Creek and also Doss. 14) Holy Cross (5-11)- Holy Cross gets a bump with their win over Iroquois, but they also lost a game to Seneca. 15) DeSales (5-10)- now 6 losses in a row after the loss to KCD in the LIT, however, all 6 of those losses were to solid teams and DeSales deserves credit for playing a tough schedule. 16) Beth Haven (13-6)- BH has now won 3 in a row. 17) Bullitt Central (3-12)- Losses to Atherton and Henry County take the streak to 11. 18) Evangel Christian (8-6)- Lost their only game of the week big to Moore by almost 30 points. 19) Whitefield Academy (2-16)- Lost to Southern by 36 points and after beating St. Francis by 18 to notch their second win of the season they turned around and lost to them in the All A Classic by 4.
  15. Do you or anyone else know how the KHSAA rule is different from other states such as Indiana? I heard Indiana was slightly different.
  16. The question was thrown out there in the original post whether the EYBL has parted ways with the Travelers and then morphed to a discussion about KY Premier. Posters associated with KY Premier clarified their hope for the future on how they would like for their boys program to one day follow the path that their girl's trajectory has taken which has been remarkable. I think it is fair to say their program is Nike sponsored and they can choose to fund their program teams (boys or girls) in any way they choose. No question their EYBL girls teams will be representing the state well on the Lady's side of EYBL as they always have. As it relates to the Boys EYBL and The Travelers speculation it has been both accurate, but also missing some of the facts. They will remain a NIKE sponsored (not Friends of Nike) team that will be playing on the 16U EYBL circuit with still a possibility on the 17U circuit as well, although that has not been determined or finalized like 16U has. The 16U team will be on the circuit where only 16U NIKE Program teams compete in exclusive EYBL tournaments for elite teams from throughout the country that have contracts that enable participation in these EYBL events. For those speculating or curious about the status of The Travelers I hope that clears things up.
  17. Defensive battle and what is interesting with Coach Bibby is that he almost likes to be in a battle of wills with his opposing coaches. Neither teams were hitting from 3 point line and in the 4th quarter with the score tied there was a period where the clock just ticked away while Fern Creek tried to make Central come out of the zone and play man 2 man. Coach Bibby just had his kids sit back in the zone and not come out and pressure the ball. He was content to let FC hold the ball for the remaining 5 minutes of the game it seemed. Not good action for the fans to watch and finally after a while FC decided to run a play and turned the ball over on an illegal pick with several minutes to go. Just an observation that Coach Bibby would have stayed in that zone as long as it took for FC to attack or run a play even with the score tied.
  18. 6th Region Rankings (1/10/16) 1) Bullitt East (13-2)- BE played back to back games this week against District foes, Fern Creek & Whitefield. Blow out versus Whitefield and a last minute thriller against Fern Creek. Tyler Sharpe hit a huge 3 pointer when BE was down 5 under 4 minutes to go and then he sealed the deal with several free throws following an old fashioned 3 point play on a layup and 1 with under a minute to go gave BE a five point lead. Prime time team led by a prime time player. Bullitt East should be considered a favorite in the upcoming LIT and at a minimum will likely be playing on Saturday. 2) North Bullitt (14-1)- PRP held the spot last week, but NB jumps over Fern Creek to replace PRP after beating PRP by 9 in a game played on a neutral court, Whitefield Academy. NB gets to prove again they are worthy of a Top 2 ranking when they play a solid 7th region St. X team this upcoming week. They could get a shot at playing Bullitt East in the LIT if they get past their 1st round opponent. 3) Fern Creek (9-6)- The Tigers started out the week with a win over Butler, but then let a great upset opportunity over Bullitt East slip away in the final minutes. They then lost to Lawrence Central on Saturday, the 6th ranked 4-A Indiana team from Indianapolis. Fern Creek's losses have came against the Top 2 teams (Male & Trinity) in the current 7th region BGP rankings, the Top team (Bullitt East) in the current 6th region BGP ranking, the Top team (North Hardin) in the current 5th region, and two teams (#6 Lawrence Central, IN & #7 Evanston, IL) who are highly ranked from their respective states. Few in the state have played as tough a schedule as Fern Creek, but they have to show they can win more of the big games than they have to date. 4) Doss (12-3)- Doss scored big victories over Valley & DeSales to improve to 4-2 in region play and then beat Taylor County by 12 at the host team gym during the final game of the Clem Haskins Invitational. Doss has improved from the early season more than anybody and has made themselves a legitimate contender to repeat for the 6th region title. They were considered to be ranked higher and possibly even ahead of Fern Creek, but they lost to FC by 12 and also lost to Bowling Green who was beaten by Fern Creek by 12. Make no mistake, Doss could be the hottest team in the region and this week at LIT they may play themselves into a higher ranking for next week. 5) Southern (10-5)- The big game last week that moves Southern into the Top 5 is a victory over PRP on the road. They also recorded two other victories to go 3-0 and now must be considered a team that can make some noise behind Sr. guard Donquel Andrews who is a fierce competitor that has an edge to his game not matched by many in the 6th region. 6) Valley (11-7)- Valley did not have a good week with 2 double digit losses to Doss and to North Oldham. However, they are being ranked ahead of PRP who also lost two games last week because they are 5-2 in region play compared to 3-3 for PRP. 7) PRP (9-5)- PRP lost two games by a combined point total of 20 points last week losing to Southern at home and North Bullitt at a showcase game held at Whitefield High School. In between they did beat Beth Haven who has not been too much of a threat for any of the larger schools in the region. Help may be on the way as former Fern Creek sophomore, Trey Hill, moved into the PRP district and has been attending school there since the holiday break. He is awaiting to be cleared to begin play at this time. 8) Western (8-6)- Two wins last week against Jeffersontown and Seneca show the Warriors can defeat the teams they are supposed to beat. However, their best victory to date is against Moore who is now ranked behind them. 9) Butler (6-7)- Butler went 1-1 this week losing to Fern Creek on their home court by 10 points before winning against Iroquois by 16 also on their home court. Butler plays Western in a 1st round LIT game this week. 10)Moore (5-8)- Moore has won back to back games this week for the first time this season and now is approaching the .500 mark. They did not make the LIT, but they will gain another victory to go three in a row with an easy game against Evangel. 11) Fairdale (6-9)- Fairdale sits just outside the Top 10 this week even after winning 2 games with a lone loss as they went 2-1. However, the loss was to Moore by 14 and both wins were against lesser opponents, Pendleton County & DeSales. 12) Iroquois (7-10)- Iroquois has now lost 4 in a row and 6 of their last 7. It will be hard to consider them a contender this year, but on the right night they could pull an upset. Their most recent game they went down to 13th region Whitley and almost beat that team who is in the upper half of ranked teams in the 13th region. It shows the potential of the lower ranked teams in the 6th region still could fare well in many other regions. 13) Jeffersontown (6-9)- Lost both games last week. They are scheduled to play CAL this week in their lone game before they play district foe Fern Creek the following week. They too are waiting on whether Delonte McCloud may be ruled eligible who transferred from Doss and would really boost the prospects of this team if he is able to play. 14) DeSales (5-9)- They lost three in a row by falling to St. X, Doss, and Fairdale. All together they have a 5 game losing streak and are a shell of the DeSales team of last year that made the Regional Finals. 15) Beth Haven (11-6)- They did go 2-1 including a win over Evangel, but their loss to PRP was by 43 points. They just cannot compete with the larger schools in the 6th region. 16) Bullitt Central (3-10)- Streak is now 9 losses in a row as they are the lowest ranked public school in the 6th region. 17) Evangel Christian (8-5)- Two losses including a loss to Beth Haven from the 6th region. 18) Holy Cross (4-10)- Lost their only game of the week big. 19) Whitefield Academy (2-15)- Won over St. Francis to notch their second win, but then lost their next two games by a combined score of over 80 points.
  19. If there is a better 2 guard who just hits big shots I don't know who it is. FC was up 5 around that 4 minute mark and Tyler hit a huge 3 with great defense being played on him. To me that was the play that changed the game. He is so tough on crucial plays. They should play again in District play and rematch should be fun. If the younger players Wales and Price and the Junior Jones continue to improve it should be another close game.
  20. I would agree that FC was determined to run the BE shooters off the 3 point line. But anyone who knows Fern Creek and could look at the shot chart which I did would not see it as simple as you suggest. Fern Creek attacks the rim as well and the baskets scored/shot from the 3 point line was not far off from even. BE earned the win, but one ref in particular either had a really off night or needs to be scratched from FC games going forward. It seems personal to me with that guy.
  21. Watched the whole thing and instead of going into the locker room as most refs rush off the court and do, this ref just stopped at the end of the Fern Creek bench waiting for the Coach daring him to say something. If he said anything it was with his back to the ref and under his breath. It was a very odd and spiteful reaction from the ref.
  22. Tyler Sharpe is warrior and does deserve to be in that conversation. He is so comfortable on a basketball court. Fern Creek earned the respect of Bullitt East if they did not already have it. With no disrespect to BE caused they fought for this win, the free throw line was the difference in this game. Fern Creek was 3/4. Bullitt East was 16/17 and Fern Creek was not fouling at the end aside from 1 or 2 fouls to cause such a variance. I saw something for the first time tonight, a ref waited for the teams to shake hands and gave the Fern Creek coach a technical after the game was over. He even went to official scorer to put it in the books. Agree that the Sophomore PG Wales (18 pts) looked really good and Smooth Jones (19 pts) is a long kid who finished around the rim with ease. Big Jared had good game for BE as well scoring down low.
  23. I would agree not in Top 10, but Top 20 is reasonable considering the schedule they have played. Besides an out of state Evanston, IL loss by a bunch, the other 3 losses were at #2 Trinity by 8, at Male by 5 and a loss to North Hardin by 6 at the KOB. Trinity & Male are two loss teams and NH is 10-4 playing a tough schedule as well. FC beat Bowling Green who is a Top 10 team with only 2 losses by 12 at the KOB. I agree they should not be ranked over Male or North Hardin, but having three losses to KY teams who are all solid teams just means they have played a much more difficult schedule than most. They play Bullitt East this Thursday and that will tell whether they are a pretender or contender for the 6th region.
