Owensboro Catholic is 13-2 since starting the season with 4 losses. Maybe the best team in that 3rd region right now.

Uh no. They lost to mcclean county last week. A 7-12 mcclean county. Hoptown isn't the same without matlock. They relied on him so much.

Crazy to lose to McLean and then beat Hoptown

Owensboro Catholic hadn't scored more than 70 points in a game all year.

Looking ahead? Maybe, maybe not. Off night? Maybe, maybe not. Will this game matter Saturday night? Nope! Get there early, grab a popcorn and a drink and don't plan to get back up until the final horn blows. Well that's my plan for Saturday night, should be a great one. Probably a preview of the second region championship.

Hoptown 6-33 from 3. At some point you gotta take it to the rim.

33 attempts from 3 against a much less athletic team? Sounds like awful shot selection to me. I didn't see the game but I am willing to bet that Owensboro Catholic played a tight zone or sagging man defense and Hopkinsville took the bait. You can't settle for 20 footers every possession when you have the athletes that Hopkinsville has.

Just as I spoke about 3rd region teams taking it on the chin, this happens. Catholic got big games from Hayden and Zuerber tonight. I was prepared to move Catholic up into the 2nd spot into the region before they were upset by Mclean in the All-A. It did take a half court buzzer beater(that appeared to come after the horn) to beat Catholic. They beat Daviess County earlier in the season, but DC was without Stewart Currie in that one. Either way, the Aces are improving every time out under Riley. Im interested to see how they fair Saturday when they host Breck County.

The Achilles heal for hoptown in this run has been their half court offense. If you can break the pressure and slow the pace you have a great chance. It's usually taken really good teams to do that. But when it happens they haven't been tough to beat. Look back at

Their last two state tourney exits... Blowout losses...

I'm shocked that o catn was able to do it... But the absence of matlock has taken their huge advantage on the boards that they often had. He

Was a terrific player.

Saturday night against Christian county will be fascinating.
