Bullitt East 72 Fern Creek 66

Featured Replies

Hard and well played game by both teams. Wales hit 5 threes for Fern Creek. Was really impressed by Jones for them. In the end, Tyler Sharpe took over and again showed why he should be in the Mr. bball conversation.

Tyler Sharpe is warrior and does deserve to be in that conversation. He is so comfortable on a basketball court. Fern Creek earned the respect of Bullitt East if they did not already have it. With no disrespect to BE caused they fought for this win, the free throw line was the difference in this game. Fern Creek was 3/4. Bullitt East was 16/17 and Fern Creek was not fouling at the end aside from 1 or 2 fouls to cause such a variance. I saw something for the first time tonight, a ref waited for the teams to shake hands and gave the Fern Creek coach a technical after the game was over. He even went to official scorer to put it in the books.

Agree that the Sophomore PG Wales (18 pts) looked really good and Smooth Jones (19 pts) is a long kid who finished around the rim with ease. Big Jared had good game for BE as well scoring down low.

It was great for us Charger fans to see Jared Farris get his confidence back tonight on offense. He has struggled recently & had really gotten his head down. He showed what he can do in this game & if he finishes like he did tonight it is the difference in a deep state run for Bullitt East.

A T after the game.

That is crazy. A ref has the right but I've never seen it done.

The free throw difference is really quite simple. Fern Creek shot a lot more jumpers than Bullitt East. East attacked the basket all night. You'll always draw more fouls when you're attacking.

Watched the whole thing and instead of going into the locker room as most refs rush off the court and do, this ref just stopped at the end of the Fern Creek bench waiting for the Coach daring him to say something. If he said anything it was with his back to the ref and under his breath. It was a very odd and spiteful reaction from the ref.

Fern Creek really limited the 3 point shooting from East. Tyler Sharpe & Bailey Rakes only got a couple of good looks . I have a great respect for Fern Creeks coaching staff . They always have a solid game plan for Bullitt East.

I would agree that FC was determined to run the BE shooters off the 3 point line. But anyone who knows Fern Creek and could look at the shot chart which I did would not see it as simple as you suggest. Fern Creek attacks the rim as well and the baskets scored/shot from the 3 point line was not far off from even. BE earned the win, but one ref in particular either had a really off night or needs to be scratched from FC games going forward. It seems personal to me with that guy.

The Big eye opener I seen on the floor tonight was the rebounding differential in favor of FC. I don't know the final tally, but it seemed that the tigers had a big advantage on the offensive glass. East must sure that up before the next round.

Other than that a highly competitive game, and in the last 4 minutes it was the Tyler Sharpe show, the kid is as good of a two guard as there is in the state...Props also go out to Jared Farris with a big game.

How is that even possible or enforced? :lol2:

If there is a better 2 guard who just hits big shots I don't know who it is. FC was up 5 around that 4 minute mark and Tyler hit a huge 3 with great defense being played on him. To me that was the play that changed the game. He is so tough on crucial plays. They should play again in District play and rematch should be fun. If the younger players Wales and Price and the Junior Jones continue to improve it should be another close game.

East must learn that all 5 players must crash the boards and to rebound at the rim.
