  1. I agree. Subs should be the term used, not reserves. Most of that bench is talented, but just not quite at starting level, and they perform really well when they get on the field, sometimes every bit as well as the starters.
  2. Holy Cross will win. They're the stronger team, and the first real competition so far for Holmes.
  3. St. Henry should win. They have some good talent on the team, and it finally seems to be coming together after a slow start to the season. The real concern would be that no one from St. Henry gets injured by the "hacking" type of game that Boone seems to favor.
  4. Cooper for the win. More composed on the field.
  5. I agree. NCC does like to play straight down the middle, I would be surprised if they get through it with the strength of Cov Cath's midfield. A definite win for Cov Cath.
  6. That is very unfortunate. It's a pity the school didn't try to get the news channel to do a more positive follow-up. Bad news travels fast, that whole story set Twitter on fire around the same time. Anyway, I know Scott has some great kids, hopefully they can put last week's red cards and bad press behind them, and move on.
  7. If my memory serves me right...I believe a student, possibly a junior and class president, stood up at that meeting and, on behalf of the student body, pleaded with the admin to bring the school under control.
  8. I think there are other schools who would agree with you, groinpull. An injury to a talented player could actually affect his future, in terms of scholarships etc...
  9. I was thinking the very same thing... That news story was all over nky early this year. So, clearly some of the trouble there is an institutional issue.
  10. Wessels doesn't get enough credit. He is a very solid and reliable player. Always reads the game well, and reacts accordingly.
  11. Great report. You should be a sports commentator in your spare time!
  12. Shout out to the St. Henry defense, with a special mention to Wells who made a spectacular save at the goal mouth by diving so low, and so quickly, that he actually cleared the ball with his face. Great reaction play.
  13. Good luck, CCH, looking forward to checking out the results later today.
  14. In all my years of supporting club and high school soccer, and following EPL, Euro cup, World Cup, I don't ever recall a red or yellow card or any other calls being overturned or reversed on appeal.
  15. Having watched these two teams in action many times, I am not surprised about the red and yellow cards, I am more surprised at the "outrage" expressed about them.
  16. Good physical game with St. Henry in the driving seat for most of the game. Some yellow cards issued to both teams, mainly for dissent. Goals by Lannon and Green, assist by Stambaugh.
  17. Well said, Oldgrappler! The only point I'll make on your generalization comment is; do you know that ScottEagle is a man? Perhaps it's woman?
  18. I don't really want to mention Club here either, but I like Kareem, good, strong, fearless player. Should be a good game tonight.
  19. They are supposed to provide constructive direction... with the emphasis on constructive.
  20. Yes, the grass was long, very wet, and muddy. In horse-racing parlance you'd say the going was heavy.
  21. I couldn't agree more. Also, the unnecessary and at times meaningless yelling from a couple of the back line players shows why the team is not bonding on the field.
  22. The St. Henry score should be higher, they had some great shots on goal, but the Villa keeper, Alex Barton, was on fire tonight. Great performance by him. He made a couple of miracle saves. Seems like the St. Henry coach seemed to be giving his second string a lot of playing time in the second half. IMO not a great decision in a game like that. The ref was appalling tonight, I don't have enough time to go into all the reasons why!
  23. IMO this thread is becoming disrespectful and personal. People should not be "called out" on a public forum like this.
