I wouldn't know for sure but I'd speculate the citizens of Liberty Ky would prefer a native or someone they are all familiar with. Drove through Liberty once on the way to Lake Cumberland. Felt like I was in the twilight zone. Amazed that Maze was productive down there.

Hearing: Casey County assistant John Mike Reitz (HOF) Mike Reitz son is in the running along with KABC 3rd region Coach of the Year John Kirkpatrick, previous staff Tony Moore and Aaron Rigdon along with recent graduate Ryan Gallenstein who's been coaching middle school ball at G-town Ohio. Bed best IMO would be to solidify a coach that could directly benefit enrollment. Rigdon has a super talented son and this could REALLY pull some talent from Mason County. MACO is drooling over this guy coming through the ranks. Rigdon would stay for a good while too. The cupboard isn't empty or potential. Only 2 seniors on this roster.

This could be an interesting hire. Seems like St. Patrick has been a gold mine for coaches to move on to bigger/better jobs per se.... Jason Hinson - Augusta/Bracken successes Tim Sullivan - Cooper 9th region Success.... Taylor - Fleming Co - 16th Region success and state tourney appearances.... Not sure what happened to Andy Arn Dont know much about Taylor's previous staff with the exception of Hall of Famer Aaron Rigdon was there helping last season... Heard he has a son that is exceptional at the game, and hiring him "could" solidify strategically basketball success in the future

coach4: Does Maze owe you money? Jeez man the dude avenged losses throughout district and region and lost to the second best team in the state (arguably). He had solid guard play an those boys caught fire late. BUT!! He can coach because he had them believing at the right time. You are being awful tough on ol Maze. Only question I have is what happened to the Wesley kid? Hear he could play a little, well at least shoot well.... Did he quit once the transfers came? Hope that's not a sore spot.

Chevy will have them competing and yes the big can play.... It'll be interesting to see who ends up at Dixie. They have a gold mine down there. Would love to see them pull it out this season

I wish him the best if that's the selection Fleming goes with. If they choose another he will continue his progress at St Pat. They've gotten much better under him I can only imagine what he'd accomplish at FC with numbers every year.

John Reitz was Maze assistant at Casey and the son of HOF Coach Mike Reitz...... Could this initiate the young Reitz?

Here's a prospect. Derek Robinson previous guard that started for Felton at WKU. He has his name in some coaching carousels. Probably would love to make it back west. Currently at Bryan Station

Heard Bryce Gomes is all over this job. Friends in the sports biz have told me he's been applying all over the state too, it's a matter of time before he gets picked up somewhere. But could work against him. Coach Cook has done an amazing good job at Mercer.

Anyone that the superintendent and personnel director signs off on can coach the team. The principal would make the formal recommendation to them and then He/she just has to write a formal justification as to why the hire was made if it would appear to be a conflict of interests or policy. Either way I'm hearing Jay Emmons isn't gunning for it. There are some names floating around out there

I see on KHSAA that some schedules are up already so I glance at those and try to make the educated guess. Harrison would most likely fall 10/11/12 range somewhere. I calling Calvary Christian a sleeper this year if they can guard well they will compete, but Brossart/Scott/Campbell really dampen their shot. they might not make it out of their district, but you put them in Nicholas/Robertson/Harrison/Pendelton you may see them emerge. Maybe even in the 39th I dare say... ofcourse those districts draw I believe, nonetheless, they should compete for their NK conference championship which is promising. Akeem Riley is a nice player and they have some size and athleticism. St. Pat would be hit or miss.... I see .500 b/c of Lee/Trimble/Riverside/Roberston/Phelps/Rose Hill/Etc..... some of those multiple times on their schedule their coach or AD certainly knows how to schedule appropriate for the program. They are competing now and looking like a bball team. I calling Mason as a repeat due to experience especially now that Garrison is back. Unfortunate for the 10th they will struggle to compete for a state title regardless of who emerges.....Campbell will be hungry though....still licking their wounds from the bomb that took them out. Paris as well.....

1. Campbell - phenomenal summer reports have them projected 1 all season 2. Scott - returns a key stud, but possible could fall a part without Carr 4. Paris - Athleticism keeps them at 3 despite the poor shooting, but better than last 5. Mason Co - returns 4 key players with state tourney experience- poss repeat 6. Pendleton Co- all star player and a developed supporting cast for belcher 7. Clark Co - Strong Defense and perimeter shooter... hung with Dunbar 17/20 min 8. MontCo - have the horse down low and they have size... SLOW team 9. Bourbon Co - experience all the way around.. solid PG, SG, & Watch!! dangerous team could reap the reward from a solid last season tough schedule 10. Bracken Co. -Is Austin Any better??Hamilton to compliment?? -Jones tough enough to handle the other bigs in the 10th??- big ???'s for me - better hope they draw Augusta..... 11. Brossart - Always in the fight with consistency in their play. will beat teams this way. 12. Calvary Christian- this team may surprise you. Riley and Wade are potential D-2 players and whenever you have college caliber players with grit, you can win (see: Augusta) 13. St. Patrick - (Swolsky is a beast) but none of those guys can shoot from the outside to help him out....Complete rebuilding year at PG/SG look for a year of solid coach Taylor defense and a .500 win column, I would also watch for some really young guys and faces to play this season maybe even start altogether..... 14. Nicholas County - will miss Barnett something fierce...Letcher and stafford must bare this absence and get better. 15. Robertson County - Has a new Coach - can he handle Boy issues? ofcourse he can... plethora of talent at Robertson coming up through the middle.. he will be rewarded generously. This coach will most likely get the last laugh if his talent sticks around. 16. Augusta - Strong couple of young kiddos... Shoemaker is the ? on the mend but will he be cleared? he will make them 15-18 pts better 17. Silver Grove - Not sure where they are with their program. I know that Brownstein stepped down and the assistant is at the helm..Had plenty of youngsters gain much needed experience last season.

Fleming County was 18-42 over the last two years...... And sub .500 over the last three years 42-52. Grant it their strength of schedule was above average, but down seasons at that program must be anticipated and .500 or better records must be strived for. They can find a Coach that has qualities at player development and that can win with lessor talent. Those types of coaches are fiery and when they do good things with less, the my can typically do great things with more. But it has to be a head coach with head coaching experience. That staff has taken a beating over the last 2 years and not sure any of those guys have it in them. I wouldn't look at them as an administrator. Jay Emmons is the closest thing they have over there in the school system worthy of that role. He's worn that black and gold. Played for Kelly....so he truly wore it.

I know Fulton was instrumental on landing successful recruits at MSU Tennis and is a visible figure in his community, not to mention a Mike Reitz product in high school (Maysville). He without a doubt would have sound judgement on recommendations for that program. The hire at Fleming needs to be one with head coaching experience and a proven track record in life for success. They have dealt with some turmoil as a school system and they need a leader who can represent their school system, basketball team, and community as well as who can face adversity and handle it with success. With the successful lineage they possess with appearances at Rupp Arena I dare say they should target someone who has competed at that level or higher in some fashion, much like their choice in the athletic director, and someone who can develop players with the combined basketball knowledge.

Any word on: Russell County Ohio County Fleming County Jobs??? Heard Bryce Gomes from Mercer and Chris Stapleton from Scott High are all shooting their resumes out

They are solid! They have solid guards and savvy post play to compliment. Moving anywhere into the 11th region as far as basketball goes is as competitive as it gets. Has to be the toughest region in the state team for team. It takes a special kiddo to play for that program. Good luck

I think that is exactly who needs to be leading Owsley then.... A confirmed competitor that nearly took the owls to the state tourney....A proven competitor to get those kiddos excited representing their community.
