  1. South Oldham has beaten OC 10 years in a row (never thought I would see that). A decade of dominance as one person put it. Could this be the year the Colonels finally get past the Dragons? I would be interested in Colonel Mike's thoughts on that one.
  2. Someone could be in the kids ear laying out different scenarios like injuries, getting on with college career, etc. Who knows. I agree kids are better served long term completing high school and allow themselves to grow physically and mentally. And just enjoy it—you don’t get those days back!
  3. Just read an article where a highly ranked high school player is looking at skipping his senior year and go on to college. Driving it is money now that they can using their NIL. I hope this isn’t something we’ll be seeing a lot of.
  4. Aug 6 - E-Town (scrimmage) Aug 13 - Lex Christian (scrimmage) Aug 20 - Cal Aug 27 - Fairdale Sept 3 - Ballard Sept 10 - North Oldham Sept 17 - Oldham Co Sept 24 - J-Town Oct 1 - Atherton Oct 8 - North Bullitt Oct 15 - Seneca Oct 22 -Central Hardin
  5. Per the practice schedule I saw they had a 7v7 and lineman challenge with Central Hardin last night. They have a 7v7 vs Doss next Wednesday and are at Western Hills for a 7v7 and lineman challenge next Saturday. That should do it before the first scrimmage vs E-Town on Aug 6.
  6. Agree it has zero indication of how good your team will do. But 7v7 does give your passing game/pass defense a chance to compete and work on technique in a competitive environment. The QB gets a chance to work on footwork, reading defenses quickly, and making accurate throws. Receivers work on getting off the line of scrimmage and separating. Linebackers and the secondary get a good opportunity to work technique and communication. In college your own team provides this level of practice. That’s why they do it several times a week. For most High school teams you have to go out and compete against other schools to get it. I believe it also does provide bonding and jacking up the competitive juices getting ready for the season. I believe there is a lot of value in these tournaments.
  7. I too encourage folks to sign up. Even if you become an umpire in baseball or an official for football at the youth level, it’s worth it. I umpired baseball for years with my son and we really enjoyed working games together. We still joke about some comments thrown our way. We also learned what it’s like to make a call in real time and how hard that can be. We’re not perfect and missed some calls but hey, we’re human! I really side with officials now. More often than not they get it right. We also encourage people to relax about being nasty towards the officials. I personally know refs who got tired of the abuse. The result over time is the situation we’re facing. Even if you don’t want to become a ref you can still help by supporting them! Thank them after a game—even if your team loses. Goes a long way in keeping them!
  8. Tough night for the Dragons. Didn't get to see it. Hopefully I can this week somehow. And from above... With roughly 95% of it's offense back from last year, including 5A's leading returning rusher, North Bullitt looked to fully close the gap on South Oldham in District IV. Adding to that belief, was the fact that the Dragons graduated a loaded senior class, maybe the best in school history. Man this is sad! Literally no one is saying this except a couple of the dads. Just takes away from the kids.
  9. That’s 10 wins in a row!! South takes the lead in the series 17-16!
  10. TD South with 1:06 left. Alex Brown to Ethan Snider! South goes for 2 and gets it. 28-21.
  11. Big drop by OC receiver. Have to punt. Poor punt. South has the ball at the OC 33 with 3:23 left.
  12. South gives it back with a little over 4 minutes left.
  13. South interception at the 15. Runs it out to the 30.
  14. South fumbles again. That’s 3 tonight. OC with a short field to start the fourth quarter.
  15. Sam Young coming alive. Went 5-6. One pass dropped would have been a TD.
  16. OC scores on a six yard run. Now lead 21-20.
  17. One minute left in the third quarter still 20-14 South.
  18. OC Hail Mary at the buzzer goes for a TD. South up 20-14.
  19. South halfback pass from Nate Garrison to Kellen McGee for a TD. Extra point blocked. South up 20-7.
