I think it's a big talent gap. Him playing both sides doesn't help. Look at the amount of big plays they gave up in those two games. You can look at the tape he was gassed and they were either making him sprint 40 yards down the field or forcing him to tackle in open space.

There is no problem in you saving this post. If the coaches try that same approach again it may get out of hand

And at the end of the day that is why Chuck Smith lost last year to one opponent on 2 separate occasions. 2015 will be the same result.

Nothing wrong with giving an opinion on a QB. I can't think of many teams that would risk playing a QB that much on D. Over a 140 plays in the LC game he played. I'm sorry but that fatigue can cause accuracy issues when throwing.

Dang Jack you are holding back. I will be down there in the fall and we have got to at least go at on a thread or two to getting the fan bases believing. What has Boyle county done or plan on doing to beat Lexington Catholic?They were the only team to beat them in 2014, and I know those guys want some payback and a deep playoff run. So tell me why 2015 will be different

Okay here is my point. Say a kid ran 5.08 like that young man did, do you really think that means he can't play at the next level? I disagree. I brought up a young man earlier that ran 4.37 at BOTW, he then ran 4.87 at the Rivals combine. This same young man has 4.35 on his HUDL account and 4.38 on a different recruiting site. At the end of the day this player has 12 scholarship offers to date and 10 of those are from BCS schools. So 4.87 to 5.08 is not such a huge difference that he isn't going to get evaluated by recruiters at the power conferences or smaller conferences. Some people put more stock into the numbers than others, but it doesn't always translate into a better player at the high school or collegiate level. I heard a recruiter say that these combines are a glorified "Underwear Olympics". Everybody can look good in shorts and a cut off but you can find some of the kids with great times riding the bench at high schools all over this country. Randall Cobb was a 2 star who now looks like pro bowl player each season. JaMarcus Russell had the greatest pro day in quarterback history and he's not even in the league anymore. Teddy Bridgewater had a horrible pro day and then won Rookie of the Year. What I am trying to say is don't think because he ran 5.08 that he ruined his chances at playing on Saturdays. One performance or time at a combine doesn't make or break you.

I don't think anybody really believed Baker ran a legitimate 4.29 in his forty. I do believe he is one of the fastest kids at any combine or camp that he attends. I will give you something to think about. I read about a kid that will go nameless. He ran a 4.37 forty yard dash at Best of the Midwest. That same kid ran a 4.87 on Sunday at the Rivals combine in Indianapolis. So there is a big big difference in hand and laser time. 4.87 is still impressive for a 17 year old and by the time he runs for a pro scout he will be four years older.

That's saying a lot considering they lost to a team in Lexington Catholic twice in 2014. In the series Boyle has lost 6 out of the last 7 to the Knights. I respect that staff and program but those 20 seniors haven't beaten LC in the postseason. I think Robbins is a great player for them but until Chuck Smith shows he can put someone out there at safety besides him, Boyle will not win in November. He's dead tired after every 2nd quarter. Plays every down on offense. He's then jogging to the sideline every play to get the call, jogging to the huddle to give the play, and then executing the play. Then he's playing safety on D, he's tired guys. If he's your best player you're certainly not treating him that way. I think he will be in the running for Mr. Football no matter what, but I think he has a better chance at a state championship if he sticks to being a QB only...

They can boycott. There was nothing to gain by LexCath playing those city teams. When Catholic won folks would say you're supposed to. When we lose its a celebration for a team that has 6A student body and LexCath having a 3A. It never helped with playoff seeding so it makes no sense to do this in football.

I'm not overlooking October and November. I respect and know how great the teams are. I'm saying survive September because I know that's the month we have to gain some confidence. I also think chemistry is huge for this LC group. Hopefully by October LC will be ready for that stretch game.....

Ryle is playing @ Lex Catholic. They are playing in their Bluegrass Bowl. I don't think they can play @ Cov Cath on a Friday night because of lighting. I can only hope that Lexington catholic survives September.

Why am I not surprised? You also said last year that the departure of certain players would hurt the offense. That was not the case man. And I clearly said may be the best and you then said no. Year 2 of this offense and the overall improvement of the returning players lead me to believe they'll be better ....

Lexington Catholic's schedule will prepare them for the postseason. Playing teams above them in class has always made them better in the postseason. The month of September will tell us where LC lands in the 3A pecking order. This may be the best set of skill players they've had at one time on offense.

One new jersey and pant combination for sure. Along with one new helmet and different face mask options. Throwback helmets with the original logo. That's the look for the BG Bowl

Anything from the kids. A few more options is always good kn Fridays. Breaking them out for the bluegrass bowl

I had to dance around that question Lol. For obvious reasons but yes the starting QB for the team was just like I said not any of the kids that people were naming. I have known this answer for a long time now so we will see how that goes. Nice set of skill players and line man returning to the offense that loves to put up points. When I mentioned the defense (mainly because that's my background and expertise) it wasn't to bash anyone. It's just I know the staff is implementing some new schemes to a team that is replacing 4 senior starters on defense. That's tough for anyone. So it doesn't matter how many points we put up with anyone at QB, we have to stop people on defense. That's why the change had to happen.

We have been spoiled over the years with our play at Quarterback, so as long as there is some patience we will be fine next season. My concern is the defensive side of the ball. A new system and a lot of starters graduated from a team that gave up too many big plays to advance to the state championship. That's the expectation so we have to demand excellence in all 3 phases in 2015. Go Knights

If the person was to transfer from across town you're right he'd have to sit out a season. If the individual has moved from out of town and now lives up here then that individual can play for the school.

The starter for next season at QB is none of the guys you named. Andy will still be a playmaker at WR and special teams but the starting QB won't be him.

It's always fun seeing all of that hard work pay off for these young men. Congrats to Reese Ryan because I've seen the work he puts in to be the kind of player he is now. I will definitely be at a few Western home games to watch the next chapter in his career.

The word is still patience for all of those concerned. And another thing I may seem like the old man from way back but why do all parents and fans want to blame the coach. In 6A it is a tough job to kick butt year in and year out. We all know that there are waves of talent that come in certain classes and then there are classes that are pretty weak. I think a realistic approach and assessment has to be taken when it comes to parting ways with coaches. You could have Nick Saban up there but it sure does help when you have studs on both sides of the football. When I saw the Boone County team in the 90's compared to now it's not even close. They had the horses. They had the talent to challenge for titles. It just pains mean to see that society thinks you can sprinkle fairy dust over the players and become great. Only in the movie scripts. Let's use our minds on the next hire

In depends what you are going for. Quick fix is not the answer here. If you want to go after a name with some experience Wirth. I would love for programs to step outside of the box and consider rebuilding it slowly with a young guy. Maybe a coordinator that can encourage kids and have them gravitate towards the program. Sprinkle in a few assistants that are familiar with how great the program used to be. It will require patience but it can be done. Parents, and fans are going to have to be realistic for the next few seasons.
