247 preview Best of Midwest, several KY kids mentioned

Featured Replies

Two running backs with speed set to compete are Cincinnati (Ohio) Country Day’s Darryn Jordan and Lexington (Ky.) Catholic’s Jaylen Jones.

Kentucky is the favorite for in-state receiver Keion Wakefield. The Louisville (Ky.) Male speedster is ranked by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 6 prospect in the state.

Jackson’s future Wildcats teammate, Lexington (Ky.) Lafayette Top247 offensive tackle Landon Young will also compete.

Louisville (Ky.) Trinity’s Connor Foos is a prospect we like a lot.

Hope Jaylen Jones from LexCath runs well. A good 40 time combined with his size and film will net him many offers.

Praying for safe travels to all of the kids heading up to Indianapolis. This weather is crazy. Good luck

The McViddie at at Moe has exactly zero HS starts heading into his senior year. If ever proof was needed that HS football is becoming irrelevant in the recruiting process here it is. Camps get it done.

Correct. Has at least 2 BCS offers already. Backed up Crable last year who is going DII.

Started at WR. Pretty good athlete, and long.

1) Which HS program you participate in makes a HUGE difference. Same kid in KY might never be noticed.

2) Assuming the goal is to be recruited and signed at FBS/FCS level, don't bother playing football in HS. Train to hit your measurables.

Quinton Baker ran a 4.29 40.

Laser or clock?

No he didn't. That would be the 6th fastest 40 time ever recorded (at least according to what has been run at the NFL combine). If numbers like this are going to come out of this combine then they're not worth paying attention to.

Not sure on the laser or clock issue.

He was the fastest person there today.

As always times should be taken looked at with a jaundiced eye.

I'm more skeptical of 40 times then most, but he ran a 4.37 (laser) at UK last year. He's sub 11 in the 100m. Is 4.29 possible for him? I'd say yes.

40's were hand timed, he was flying but obviously there is error involved on hand times.

Standing next to A couple people from Ashland, I do know Baker said he ran a 4.35, it was by timed by hand.

I hope Connor Foos has a good showing!
