Normally I would say it's a waste, but with the recent issues with colleges pulling offers that players have excepted, I would call it "Smart".

I honestly think the big reason is for guys to compete against players at the same level as them, they really seem to enjoy it. Also, a lot of these kids have really gotten to know each other at these events the last few years from what I have witnessed.

That's like saying, "I trade my blue chip stocks for unknown stocks because I like talking to my stockbroker".

 

A less then optimal performance at a combine can cause you to lose offers, or drop on someone's radar. If you are at the top of the list, you stop going to combines. Period.

Maybe, Jackson is already the #1 rated center in the nation, so what does he have to prove? If you are #1, no where to go but down.

Also, there was at least 1 US Army All-American Game representative there, I'm sure most of these kids would love an invite to that as well as the competion the event brings.

Played at Ashland last year, transferred to somewhere in Columbus, OH for Senior year.
