  1. Clay County for me if I was building a team to win. Richie Farmer - one of the true Goats of high school basketball. Shannon Hoskins- probably more skilled than anyone else to wear the tiger uniform. Instant offense with range out of the gym. Russ Chadwell- Imo better than Richie just didn't get the touches and hype. Mark Smith- without a doubt the best high school defender I've ever seen. Played a nice mid range game. Shane Brumley- without a doubt the best rebounder I've ever seen. Lead the state 2 years in a row. Would do all the dirty work and clean up everyone's misses without ever commanding the ball. These aren't the 5 best individual players but if I'm building a team to compete with anyone, these are my horses.
  2. Welcome to the 13th. Where some refs like to be the center of attention. It wouldn't have matter if it was 2 13th region teams they would have called it the same IMO. 33 % of them are horrible.
  3. Clay came out very slow and with no urgency only scoring 10 points in the 1st quarter. But finally woke up and started playing with a little effort. Game wasn't as close as final score. Clay basically toyed with them. Still a nice win. Clay's big three looked very good.
  4. South was missing there 2 best players from what I'm told. Can believe SW didn't run them out of gym. People can sat what they want this year but the 13th is stacked with quality teams. Boyle gets it took to them 2 nights in a row and now South plays with SW missing there 2 best players. Good showing by South but I really like South west's team.
  5. Well it looked a like a foul to me, but I just don't think you can call that there. I will say this that ref, if it's who I think it is bald and kind of looks like Stone Cold is horrible. He is in consistent and never calls a good game.
  6. Congrats to knott county. I said they should win by double figures if they are as good as people think
  7. These refs couldn't be no worse than the ones who call Wayne county's home games
  8. It didn't look to me like the refs took it. Free throws about even. And yeah I figured Boyle would handle them easy. Clay did on corbin s home floor
  9. Blake Smith 26pts, 7 Reb, 3 steals Wes Wolfe 17pts, 11 Reb. Trey Farmer 14pts, 10 Reb. Will Sexton 10pts. Starters played less than 3 quarters. Clay was still missing House and Arnold due to injury.
  10. I just think individually these 2 are better than Beverly and CVH. Both putting up big numbers and have D1 offers and D1 schools looking hard. I don't think either is in the top 10 but if you are including Beverly and CVH then I think you must include Smith and Broughton.
  11. Probably true at this point because of the injuries. I saw rowan get demolished by Southwestern in a scrimmage right before season. Wasn't that impressed with them. But scrimmages don't mean much. But you have a valid point on JC
  12. Imo there's no way you can put Braxton Beverly and Cole VonHandorf on this list ahead of Peyton Broughton of North Laurel and Blake Smith of Clay County. Can't much argue the rest of the names.
  13. 1. Knott County 2. Clay County 3. Lawrence County 4. Perry County 5. Knox Central 6. Sheldon Clark 7. Johnson Central 8. Corbin 9 Shelby Valley 10. TIE: Buckhorn/ North Laurel
  14. Nice win by the tigers considering all the players out and on the road. I won't give stats since people think I have a vested interest in a player even though I don't. Clay is a 25-30 point better team when at full strength.
  15. If there's a D1 school that offers the player I'm talking about they are crazy. And I'm not taking a shot at him that's the reason I didn't say his name. I would never take a shot at a kid . I only offer my opinion and and breakdown of teams and players. I believe Broughton deserves every offer he has recieved. As do I for Smith and every other player that gets them. This is no shot against him. Stats don't lie and what stats you provided can't be argued as well as my stats head to head. I really believe they are the two top prospects in the 13th. Two great players with 2 totally different styles. Look forward to the next 3 battles.
  16. I agree with les. Marsee is a difference maker. One of if not the best big in the mountains
  17. Agree mason by as many as they want. Henry is a stud.
  18. I think you do an outstanding job Les, even said so last week. My opinion and yours differ on North. Seriously they haven't beat anyone. And yes I know what it takes to play at the next level and Imo Broughton and Smith are not high level D1 players. Mid majors at best for both of them.
  19. Getting D1 looks mean nothing, his teammate proves that theory. He gets them too and he can't play marbles. However Broughton does deserve his looks he is good.
  20. This has nothing to do with smith. If you watched the game he didn't score on smith. And I didn't say he wasn't good or talented I said he's not an all around player. And I said they don't have a quality win. Truth is the truth. Broughton is a good offensive player to be a 17 year old sophomore. But in order to play at the next level you must play defense and if a 6'3" nice high school player can shut you down them you have problems. And that team has twice the potential of clay but potential isn't performance. And they haven't figured it out yet. South very well could be better than clay and Clay will lose should lose some games this week due to the injuries. Your assessment of them was dead on. No depth and lack defense. But North is no way the 2nd best team in this region right now. Maybe when they get Collier.
