No. That's an old rule that has been changed. Aug 1 is the first day everyone can start in pads. No one can wear shoulder pads until July 25.

I picked up my Paducah Sun this morning and the front page has a picture of McCracken Co practicing in helmets and shoulder pads. Then the article stated that they have been in pads since Monday! According to the emails I have read from KHSAA you couldn't put shoulder pads on until July 25 and can't go full pads until Aug. 1. Looks like McCracken gets a jump on everyone else in the state.

The administration must have been sitting around doing nothing. Then, thanks to the uproar on BGP they went out and found some grass to start putting in. Whew! Disaster averted!!! (Sarcasm intended) Sindelar can now revoke his transfer request to Trinity.

Mayfield looked very strong. They have a lot of speed, surprise!, and the Arnett kid looked good at qb. He is a small kid but had a strong arm. The Guhys will be tough to replace but I feel Arnett will be a strong replacement given time. Mayfield eliminated Madisonville which won the McCracken tourney the weekend before. With all that being said, I put very little stock in 7on7 tourneys. It's basically practice.

Those making comments on the school's role have no idea how hard the school district has been working to get the sod on the field. This is a problem at several other schools in the region as well. There will be sod on the field in the next week.

I would say it will be very difficult to predict this year's top 5 until at least 3 games have been played. There are 10 teams that have a legit claim to the top 5.

C, D, and E Many coaches' will simply use cliche after cliche to describe things in a general way. Many coaches are wary of giving others "bulletin board" material, which is what will happen if you say what you really want to say.

He's good but based on the film I've seen Sindelar is significantly better.

I know parents have good intentions and coaches want to help kids but spending money is not always the answer. Extra help can be good but you must communicate with your son's coach because that is ultimately who he will be playing for. Also, don't be surprised if he tells you that he doesn't think attending that camp at that time is a good idea. It's not because he doesn't want what is best for your son but the coach has to make the best decisions for the team. That may mean your son, who the coach HAD speculated as a starter, may now start the season running 3rd string because he missed 5 days of camp.

How do you explain to parents how important it is to attend practice from now until the season begins? Parents that have up and coming players that think they need to spend a bunch of money sending their sons to football camps like FBU, NUC, UnderArmour, etc....But by doing so neglect the team their son will be playing for. I'm not talking about one day camp/combines on college campuses. Those are good and there is no doubt it has benefit for the young man to be SEEN by the college coaches. I have no problem with these. I'm talking about the camps that are about $$$$. Yeah, there will be some big name coaches or players that attach their names to the camp. It may have been held at a big time facility. BUT if you are missing practices for the team you will be playing for in the fall you are making a mistake. I don't have a problem with a student going but not at the expense of missing the opportunity to compete for a position. The BEST exposure you can get is the team's overall success. The more games you play the more you will get seen. I don't doubt that some camps are very good and have quality coaches but they are money makers first. At least speak with your coaches about attending these camps before you sign up. They are counting on you this season because they think you are a good player too! BUT you have to earn it!!

Move to Indiana. How can it improve an 0-10 team's season by having them take a 50-0 shellacking to wrap things up? Most times, these teams are happy to end the season.

Kid is a nice player. Very physical. Especially for his size. I could see him as an outside linebacker/SS type kid at the next level. Also runs the ball well.

Kid is gonna be a great player. Impressed by his ability to move around and throw at his size. Also, #25 is very impressive looking. Does he have any offers?

This should still be an outstanding. A very talented skill group that is returning with another year's experience on offense. Have to replace 3 starting o-lineman. They have some decent lineman coming up to do that. Defensively 4 starters graduated including the LB core. There are some solid young LBs coming up behind them that have a chance to be better. Look for another solid team. Should be an exciting year with some other solid returning teams in 2A. 2A is definitely on the upswing. Murray, Caldwell, and Glasgow will be very strong coming from the West.

I don't think a team should be able to cut block out of the gun because the ball instantly leaves the box. For you to execute a cut that fast you would have to basically dive out of your stance. I wouldn't care if they eliminated the cut block altogether. It can be dangerous if kids don't see it everyday. I say you either make it illegal everywhere or open it up like the college game and let you cut downfield. I mean if a fat lineman kid is allowed to be cut everyone else should be. The implementation by referees has been inconsistent which has caused much of this controversy. Depending on who you have on a particular Friday night will depend on whether or not you can cut out of gun. I have seen many referees allowing backs to cut.....frequently. Which can't be legal even in the box.

I think film is big! Size and grades are valuable. Coaches look at that for potential and obviously potential but they watch film no matter the competition. You just better stand out more if the competition is weak.

Great points! One thing I will add, if you make a HUDL highlight film let your high school coach view it before you send it. Many HS coaches know what college coaches are looking for on film. Plus, you don't want to send out film that hurts your chances. Highlights to a kid are not always the best to send to coaches.

Bowling Green is never down. They may not always be a national power type team but that place is a football factory. Great tradition and enough support to not miss a beat season to season. Their fans have ridulous expectations at times and Wallace has done a good job weathering that storm to stay around long enough to put together the teams he has had the last couple of years. They have some distinct advantages other schools don't. Namely, a great resource for assistant coaches with the university in town. Also, living in Bowling Green is a very attractive option for a young coach.

Chuck Smith's assistant coaches are Head Coaches for other schools. Those schools games are actually gameplan theory practices for Boyle County.
