What does Bowling Green need to do to improve in 2014? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Big question is, can they replace the trio that was the scoring machine over the last several years?

Finding the replacement for Devin Hayes will be the biggest question mark in my opinion.

 

The defense typically plays at a high level, but we'll see because they lost some solid players on that side of the ball as well.

 

But it's BG, they're going to reload and be a solid football team.

Two years ago I didn't think they'd go undefeated (and they did), but in 2011 & 2013 I felt pretty certain they would, especially last year. I don't think this time they go undefeated, but BG has proven by now that they cannot be anything but the favorite until proven otherwise. They have a lot of spots to fill and I'm not as knowledgeable on the upcoming class as I was the departing class of 2014, but you can be certain that they'll be the Purples as usual.

Purples may experience something they have avoided in a while ~ a loss. With that said, they will still compete for a four peat. In fact, i think they will get it. St. X and McCallie will be tough. As someone said earlier, the QB situation is the key. Coach Wallace and his staff will put team in position to win. Our offensive structure will probably change a little bit. Not a bad thing, just different. Central, Catholic will not be easy.

 

I hope Purple fans realize the run we are in. Only 6 teams in America have a longer streak. It has really been quite amazing.

 

If we can run the ball (we will be a lot better than most think on the ground with Holt and Carrothers) and our defense can compete, we will win majority of games.

That's the BG I am expecting next season. They may even revert back to the option; retro BG style. But I doubt they will have anyone who can sling the ball around like Hayes did.

I don't see them going back to the veer offense Wallace has fallen in love with throwing it around.

Wallace has fallen in love with pro style balance. I'd say Nelson county was probably the only team in KY to throw more times than they ran the ball last season.

My apologies for thread jacking. Bowling Green should be a top 5 team and play a very similar style to last season.

Who will be Hayes replacement? Is that known yet or will there be a competition for the open position?

Bowling Green is never down. They may not always be a national power type team but that place is a football factory. Great tradition and enough support to not miss a beat season to season. Their fans have ridulous expectations at times and Wallace has done a good job weathering that storm to stay around long enough to put together the teams he has had the last couple of years. They have some distinct advantages other schools don't. Namely, a great resource for assistant coaches with the university in town. Also, living in Bowling Green is a very attractive option for a young coach.
