You're correct, they don't have to, but after publicly announcing the Ruthsatz's induction, and then privately pulling it....It would, in my opinion, be the right thing to do. Perhaps its rhetorical, but what even is the point of a Hall of Fame if the all-time winningest coach can't be inducted? Will the 2014 or 2018 teams ever get inducted, or will CCH try to erase them like they are Ruthsatz?

He is the 3rd youngest son- Nick '2014 Aiden '2019 Nolan is a much different player and person than both of them. More of a role guy: a defensive havoc-creator than scorer. He has his own history within the program, but nevertheless starts for the team as a Senior and plays a valuable role. Yes, he is a grown man, but its probably hard on Scott too as he attends CCH games simply as a parent, something he hasn't been able to do for the last 13 years. But now, people approach him all the time asking about this particular situation. Still waiting for SOMEONE (CCH, Diocese) to explain why Scott Ruthsatz, the all-time winningest coach in school history, who won 82% of his game in 13 seasons, won 2 of the only 4 state championships ever won by an NKY school (1981 Simon Kenton, 2014 CCH, 2018 CCH, 2021 Highlands) is not being admitted to the CCH Hall of Fame.

There is (IMO) an epidemic of uninformed/misinformed broadcasters across small college basketball and High Schools in the US. If a parent were to refer back to broadcaster comments as actual plans/thoughts from the coaching staff, that is intentionally malicious or ignorant at best.

So essentially here, 1. CCH publicly Announces Scott and Nick Ruthsatz into HOF 2. CCH privately tells Ruthsatz family that Scott is not to attend or be inducted, and instructs them to stay quiet or tell mistruths about it 3. Nick Ruthsatz privately calls them out for it 4. CCH privately points finger at the diocese 5. Nick Ruthsatz publicly explains the injustice done to Scott For #2 to occur, seems to me like they've covered up these types of decisions with public lies before. CCH and/or diocese IMO look really bad here. What the Ruthsatz family has done for CCH (that includes those who benefit from salary increase directly/indirectly tied to Basketball program success), for basketball in the 9th Region, and for the NKY Basketball community as a whole is significant. Fully understand that CCH / the diocese are 'big business' level entities in this community/region, but hard to deny the Ruthsatz family helped them raise their profile.

For the Diocese / CCH to not have anything to say.....as mentioned above, that silence is loud. Maybe they don't want to take away from the other deserving HOF inductee's tonight. Sadly, this will put a dark cloud over the 2014 and 2018 championship teams, and could end up delaying or possibly eliminating their shots at HOF as well...Sad situation. What a shame that Nick is the only one standing up for his dad. You may disagree with his methods, but at least respect him for having his family's back.

My source spoke directly to Joe, and told me that's what he said. Our conversation took place this week... It would certainly make sense to me that Joe, being 1) a public figure 2) a CCH alum and 3) a veteran Covcath HOF emcee (see attached image), that he would be the first choice to emcee the 2025 event, and also (due to points #1 and #2) deflect any involvement so as to not get caught up in the drama of all this. Joe is a good guy and in both scenarios really isn't at fault. How I see it, its either: 1) The Bishop/Diocese rescinded Ruthsatz's HOF induction, and refuses to address it or admit it, thus CCH leadership lacks the will to speak out against a clear injustice or 2) CCH Leadership rescinded Ruthsatz's HOF induction on their own, and is deflecting blame to the Bishop/Diocese A statement from either one would help move this all along...

Well, when he told the organizer of the event that he won't do it without the Ruthsatz there, it's possible they removed him from the event too.

He did inform his family, obviously, and out of respect for him, they stayed quiet about the situation. He embraced it, because despite winning over 82% of his games in 13 years, he still dealt with entitled kids and complaining parents most years. Other high schools have this too, but it's typically at a larger level at CovCath. Then, when CCH announced Scott and Nick were to both enter the HOF, and 2 weeks later, told them that Scott wasn't welcome but they still asked Nick to attend, Nick responded. Keep in mind, CCH asked the Ruthsatz to lie about the reason why Scott wouldn't be inducted. They also told the event's emcee Danneman to NOT address why the Ruthsatz will not be in attendance His son is 29 years old. Not sure how much a dad will allow or not allow at that age. Every family is different.

Exactly. That's the piece much of the public is missing. Ruthsatz 'resignation' in May was fishy, and he was the bigger man at that point who took the high road at that time. The HOF induction 7 months later seemed like a good idea to bring the 2 parties (CCH + Ruthsatz) back to good terms. Cowardly for the Bishop or Diocese to not release a statement.

Did your dear friend give you any specific reason for Bishop Iffert to shut this down? Only possibility I can come up with, is a big donor (probably one whose kid wasn't talented enough to play at CCH) with serious pull told the Bishop he will pull donations if Scott is inducted. Serious question that CCH Admin should be asking: If the winningest coach in school history, who brought the only 2 State Championships in school history, can't get into the Hall of Fame, then what even is the Hall of Fame? Kudos to Nick for standing up to the powers that be for his father. The 'resignation' in the Spring from Scott (and Joe Fredrick for that matter), obviously is a much, much deeper issue than the public knows.

I coached Luke last summer. He's a bright kid with a great shooting career ahead of him. Expected from a player who plays for Mike Price for 7 seasons.

Great D2 program Christian Brothers in Memphis. Congrats to Aiden and his family. He's a tough player on the court and plays much bigger than he is!

Two Shining Star teams in the 17u and 15u division have Kentucky players. 15u the only Kentucky kid is Scotty Draud (Beechwood). He's an 8th grader playing up and has really impressed me offensively. He has an aggressive mindset and can shoot the ball when needed. Lots of upside potential and I fully expect him to play and possibly start varsity next season. 17u has Aiden Ruthsatz (Covcath) and Mekell Burries (Newport). Aiden has been playing really well, getting past guys with his quickness and shooting/finishing exceptionally. I wish he played with that confidence when he wears blue and white. Mekell has been really impressive , especially considering its his second year playing the game. He stuggles sometimes with shot selection and staying engaged defensively, but his potential is thru the roof (ceiling). He has an excellent handle on the ball and is shooting the ball well from deep. 17u beat Ohio Phenoms in the gold division.

Coached Jake last summer in AAU. The best thing about him is, he doesn't play for attention or to show off or get into it with other players. He truly just wants to play hard and to win for his teammates. Really happy he got to end his high school career in a memorable way. Well done.

Congrats to Scott on a big win. Keep it rolling. Regarding Jake and college opportunities, please keep in mind there are more factors than basketball. For Jake, and for schools looking at Jake. Basketball is the number 1 factor and then there is a big drop off to the next. I realize that. But keep in mind finances, academics, good fit, etc are just a few of the things coaches and players have to consider before committing. I think University of Cumberlands is a GREAT fit for Jake.

Just because you don't get a scholarship, it doesn't mean you should not be rewarded for your hard work. I was not born with division 1 height, speed, strength, or skill. I had to work extremely hard, and even got up at 5:30 am to shoot and work on ball handling 4x a week in high school, and I was extremely fortunate to receive about 10 opportunities to play at various division 3 schools. It is something I dedicated my entire high school career to, as I skipped all school dances, had an extremely limited social (party) life, and it kept my grades up in the classroom as well. Only 6% of high school basketball players get to play college basketball at ANY level, including division 3 JV. It is an accomplishment that 6 out of every 100 high school athletes get to experience. My parents were proud of me on both days.

As a former college basketball player, I can tell you location is one of dozens of factors to consider when looking to play at the next level. It is not the only variable between different schools.
