Disregard my comment re: Sacred Heart/Atherton. Didn't know they were in same district.

Whomever was responsible for scheduling the game between Sacred Heart and Atherton are at fault here. Each Coach and/or AD had to have known the disparity between the two and that a result like this was probable. As far as SK/Williamstown is concerned they are in the same district and have to play for seeding purposes. Not SK's fault if a lopsided score occurs. That is why the KHSAA should class the districts in each region and then they wouldn't have to play during the regular season. Would only potentially play in the regional tourney and you would assume if a small school like Williamstown made it to the regional then they would be good enough to prevent something like this from happening if they came up against a big school like SK.

I don't either. I have seen both play. No disrespect towards Ludlow but there is no way Williamstown goes scoreless against them unless both Howe and Middleton didn't play.

I have said this on here before...leave it the way it is except class the districts by enrollment in each region. That way the small schools have a chance to rep in the regional tournaments. That is an easy fix and throws a bone to those who say the small schools don't have a chance year in and year out.

I have watched him since 6th grade. Very good player for this area. He might be able to play at a power 5 if the fit is right. I think he is better suited for an OVC, C-USA, or Horizon league school. Very skilled but I don't think he is the elite athlete power 5's look for.

It is no more complicated than NDA simply doesn't have the talent on their roster this season to compete at the highest levels. Talent levels in high school basketball are and should be cyclical, even at private schools. Good coaching cannot overcome talent deficiencies, so please give NDA's coaches a break. They have a lot of young kids on their roster who are learning and this season may just be a stepping stone to build for future success. They are also in a tough district and region this year. The 9th is a bear with Conner, Ryle, Holy Cross, Holmes, Highlands, Cooper and so on. Losing to Grant is not a sign the sky is falling. Grant's a very good team that has a good shot at winning their district and competing for the 8th as they are one of the 4 or 5 best teams in that region.

Ranting at officials is an issue athletic directors need to address with their coaches. Male coaches tend to be the worst offenders. The opportunity to teach an important lesson in controlling one's emotions is being missed. What do players learn when they see their coach appear to lose control during a game? To me they learn this is the acceptable way to act when things aren't going your way. The refs are going to call the game the way they see it no matter what the coaches, players, or parents/fans think. Games would be better if more coaches toned it down and concentrated on teaching their kids. Not saying emotion isn't part of the game or that you can't engage officials over a questionable call. Simply you will get farther if you treat others the way you wish to be treated, instead of ranting at them. That is a lesson sports are supposed to (but all to often fail) teach kids.

You would think with Niece out the rest of their roster would see an opportunity to find their place in the sun. Looks like Stamper is the only one taking advantage of her absence.

Have to disagree with you. Grant is #6, really? They were region runner-up (knocking out the defending champion in last season's tourney) and have everyone coming back. They should be #2 behind SK. This should be bulletin board material for them. Spencer has some nice players. We will see if that translates into a run at the region title this season.

This list must have been put together based on last season. SK's Niece and WV's Lehkamp both suffered serious knee injuries over the summer and are likely to miss most of the season. If Niece doesn't come back (you couldn't blame her if she didn't since she has already signed with NKU) the 32nd, as well as the 8th is up for grabs. Before her injury she was a level above everyone else on this list and was the one player the rest of the teams in the region didn't have an answer for.

You are speaking about the Duke kid at Trimble. Everyone has heard this rumor. Why not come out and say it?

If that is true there must be a reason. After all he is an alumnus. I know the girls program has lost a lot of players over the last several years. Maybe that has something to do with it. They have little tradition and would have a difficult time attracting a name to replace Harden, who was only there because of family. Seems like he would be a logical choice. If he did get it then you would have a situation similar to the one described in the Owen Co. girls thread. Maybe the admin doesn't want a husband and wife leading both the boys and girls programs.

Take it from someone familiar with the lay of land in the 32nd district...a young coach starting out will quickly become disillusioned at Williamstown. Surprised Harden lasted as long as he did.

Since this thread has evolved into a comparison of these two who does everyone think will have the better college career? I've watched them both for 3 years and think they are similar in how they play. I like Clifford better because she is a legit 6 feet and has a better outside shot. Feel like both will struggle defending against the athleticism they will see night in-night out in college.

Like Trimble last year WV showed the blueprint for how to compete with SK. Shocked Stowers had his team hold the ball for most of the 4th quarter. WV packed it in and allowed them to. But in doing so they sort of killed the momentum they had going. But any coach would take their chances being down only 4 with 3 minutes left. SK not a sure thing to make the Sweet 16. No sure things come tourney time. They have all the tools but I get the sense from watching them they are not all on the same page. Not many teams can match up with Meier's size yet they do not make her a priority to touch the ball on many possessions. And there was one sequence in the game when it looked like Stamper and another player were playing keep away from Niece. Stowers had to call timeout to make them give her the ball. Harney, Harmeyer, Jones, Stamper, Gilliam chuck too many 3's for my taste. Last night only Harmeyer shot it well. Niece is a nice high school player...high basketball IQ and plays within herself. She killed WV on the offensive board. Hope SK and Trimble hookup again in the regional. That will be fun to watch. Congrats to WV on a solid year in Coach Clink's absence. They will be solid again next season.

SK has done less with more than any school in the 8th ever since they joined. A school of their size should be right there knocking on the door every year along with the Oldham schools.

Unfortunately for the spectators both coaching staffs were willing to play at a deliberate pace. Trimble I suspect to protect Clifford since she was not 100%. WV normally plays a deliberate style. It is in the DNA of their coaches. In the years I have watched they don't trust more than one or two kids to make plays. Shame for the WV seniors. They were in control of this one. Last shot for them to get to Frankfort.

They have put together a nice season so far. First bad loss. They have had a lot of players leave or quit in recent years. Would have been nice to see Coach Mason vindicated for the work she has put into that program.

I'll take Trimble over Williamstown. Heard through the vine Walton has not been playing well. Lost 7 of their last 8.

Agree with everything you say here. Was at the game against Highlands and it was exactly as you describe. Unfortunately the "dribble-drive" is now all the rage in high school ball. Most teams don't have the personnel to run it and it looks at times like pickup ball.
