  1. I'm taking Ryle in the upset.. 27-21
  2. I didn't hear anything about helmets being swung. I did hear about coaches fighting though and the person I spoke with is close to the program. I guess we'll see if they have a coach no longer on staff?
  3. I've heard an assistant was let go but again, I cannot confirm that.
  4. No not scheduled. Sounds like a fight that got out of hand.
  5. This is what I heard as well.
  6. From what I've heard, they had an event at practice the other day that resembled more UFC than high school football... but I haven't been able to have more than one person confirm so at this point I'm taking it as rumor. Hoping one of the Ryle faithful can confirm/deny.
  7. I'm hearing through the grapevine that there may have been some serious issues at a Ryle practice this week.. Haven't seen anything on here about it. Can anyone confirm?
  8. I'm saying that I was a high school coach as recently as 2 years ago and that the amount of kids actually doing more than what is required isn't nearly as high as you're thinking it is. Sure, there are a lot of kids doing it but there is equally a large amount of kids not preparing themselves for the heat.
  9. Bingo. The trainer at Cooper doesn't hide heat index issues either. He literally walks out to the middle of the practice field and takes the heat index. If it's in the range where things need to be changed, he let's the coaches know. From my experience with Borchers and the staff, they do not ignore the heat index rules. I'd be willing to bet also that the post mentioned earlier about kids being in better shape now than they ever have isn't exactly accurate. There are some kids that are absolutely in fantastic shape. There are other kids still doing the bare minimum training wise to prepare themselves for the heat.
  10. I’ve been out of coaching a few years now but we were very similar. Typically Monday would be a 3/4 speed day in shells. Tuesday was full go. Wednesday back to shells for offense and Thursday was either just helmets for walkthrough or shells.

  12. Typically full pads brings on more contact. Coaches at most schools typically drop full padded practices down to save kids legs from carrying the extra weight. Dead legs is a real thing! In a shells practice, typically tackling is reduced to wrapping and running the feet compared to taking teammates to the ground.
  13. Let's go with the underdog. Jags by 6!
  14. From what I've been told, water breaks were issued every 15 minutes. I know the trainer at Cooper personally and he is a stickler for the rules and the coaches there all respect and listen to him when he says they have to modify practice. As for parents getting restless... well that's every year. Including the State Runner Up year.
  15. Typically you do 1 full padded practice, 2 practices in shells, and a walkthrough in helmets (this could also be shells).
  16. What kind of defense does Cooper run that has safeties playing at LB depth?
  17. What kind of defense does Cooper run that they don't use the safety position?
  18. I should have said a base 4-2-5. Most of the time the end up playing almost a 4-1-6 or a 3-2-6 as a sub package. Definitely interested to see how this game goes! They have been entertaining matches to say the least.
  19. Cooper runs a 4-2-5. Different concepts from a 4-3 with completely different reads on defense.
  20. Back in my coaching days we used to tell the kids that the energy is only there for the first series. After that it's what you know and what you do.
  21. Agreed on kicking strategy. I was a Special Teams coordinator in a past life and we set up all of our kickoffs to hit the corner at about the 10-15. We knew we didn’t have kickers who could get to the end zone so we would directional kick with loft to give our coverage team time. It worked as we only had one return for a touchdown in 4 years. That one return? Got kicked right now the middle.
