They lost most of their scoring and a really good player (3rd team CJ all state) in Corey Thomas they also lost SR pg. C. longacher. (sp) This was almost all of their score and they will defiantly be rebuilding. The good thing is so is most team in that district. Holy Cross lost 9 Sr, Valley is not very good. The one wild card will be Beth Haven who I have been told has 3-4 transfers they are trying to get eligible. PRP will win the district.

Drabo leaving i missed that one. He didn't play a lot for what ever reason last two years. I have also heard that Miller was going to be gone after this year, and Terrence Moorman from western was going to get the job. This was before Mr. Mike had "problems" at Male.

I dont think top 25 i just think the 6th is really down and Jtown has a really good player that can carrier them.

7th 1. Trinity- Loaded Sr class led by best player in the state 2. Ballard- Still Ballard and have plenty of talent 3. Manual- Sutton might be the second best player in the region and this team won 20 games last year 4. ST. X- Lost Robert Shaw a 4 year starter at PG his leadership will have to be replaced by Burgess 5. Eastern- Looks to make it back to 7th region elite 6. Waggener- Most talent in 7th outside trinity, lose starting PG Wells (transferred to central) but got two transfers. This team comes down to coaching. 7. Male- will be led by parker 8. KCD- Mathis and McCray two very skilled players won a game in the LIT last year 6th The 6th region is down this year and will have a lot of team all right there, might be the widest open it’s been in years. 1. Bullitt East 2. Doss- new coach how fast will players adapt 3. PRP- they play into the system better than anyone 4. Desale led by 6’5 shooter chase spilmen 5. Jtown-

Male was really inconsistence last year, Parker might be the second best big in the region behind Spalding (trinity). I know they have had an asst. coaching turn over; this might help rejuvenate a team who struggled last year. They have Chris Drabo who came in as the top freshman in the city, yet has not seen the floor for whatever reason. They could be the best low post team in the region they just need to play like it and that was the same problem they had last year.

Iroquois had 9 Sr last year and will be very young; unless they have a transfer they will not have a senior on the team. As always they will be very athletic and play hard especially on defense under coach marrow. The district is one of the toughest in the state, with Doss and Desales being the two favorites I would think followed by Iroquois, Butler and Western.

Holy Cross lost 9 SR. Their top 7 players including schools all-time leading scorer Dominic Mack along with Jack Smitt. They are defiantly in rebuilding mode with only 2 or 3 player who got any playing time last year. They have a freshman who is about 6’6 and decently skilled. How fast he devolves could help them in the post. They will be led by two guards Ray and Basham. They do benefit from being in a district with Fairdale, Valley, Beth Haven, and PRP. So they can compete for the second spot in a down district, in order to make it to region.

Going back a couple of years I know they have kind of nickel and dimmed the fans and parents to get in, $7- $10 a person for a game. No water on the bench for the players in pass years. Making the players parents have to spend more money. It does not seem like a lot but if you are going for three days to watch your son play your spending $60-$100 for the weekend. Other places charge $2 to get in, and you’re playing the same teams from around the area with few exceptions. I also think with the expansion of summer leagues throughout June teams just are not entering this tournament.

So the Waggener Fern Creek game will be the former Legends vrs the KY Gators.

Not every coach in the city does it. Things might come completely apart if the whole truth of things get out.

No pity at all. When you don't build your program the right way these things happen. Everyone in the city knows how those kids got there. Wells is still in school at Waggener from what i have heard.

It is Jefferson County a "change of address" is all that is needed, happens every year.

A look at the new coaches in the 6th and 7th regions Atherton- Mark Tudor Has been the Assistant coach for the past couple years. He was the head JV coach and did a pretty good job with them. Tudor takes over a program that gets some decent talent and is in a district that is looking for a number two team. (Trinity, Atherton, Seneca, and Waggener) they have not been to region since the districts realigned. Brown- Scott Cissell Cissell has spent the last 9 years as an assistant coach 7 at Louisville Holy Cross (head freshman) and 2 at Waggener (head JV). He did a good job at both places, playing up the talent he had to work with. He coached under Mike Durham (current 6th region coach of the year) and played for Stan Hardin. I would expect an up tempo style and a very tough defensive team. Brown has not had very much success at all. In a district with St. X and male will make it tough for anybody. CAL- Chad Carr Carr went 69-95 in six seasons as head coach at Whitefield, including 10-16 last season, after four years as an assistant there. He was the JV coach there for 3 years. He did a good job at Whitefield and made them competitive in the 6th region and competed for the All A 7th region almost every year. He takes over a program that has more talent but also must go against Ballard, Easter and KCD. This is a very tough district. Doss- Tony Williams Tony had an 11-year pro career playing basketball in Turkey, Italy, France and Lebanon. Williams garnered Asian and Euro league honors, including playing on three league finals teams, two All-Star teams, and in two season championships, according to the release. Prior to being drafted in 2000, Williams played at U of L from 1996 through 2000 for legendary Coach Denny Crum. At U of L, Williams is No. 41 on the list of all-time scorers, scoring 1,133 points during four years for 9.4 points per game average. In his only year as coach at St Francis he led them to a 14-14 recorded. The best record in school history. He did a great job hear and will excel at Doss with the talent they have. Fairdale- David Hicks Hicks was been a player and Assistant in the Fairdale program for the past 19 years. He won a state championship at Fairdale in the early 90’s. He has been coached and mentored by Stan Hardin, Lloyd Gardner and Gregg Longacre. He did a good job as the JV coach and had them competitive. I would not see much changing as far as style of play because of being a Fairdale guy. He has previous head coaching experience from being the head baseball coach at Fairdale. Valley- Joe Harris Harris was an Assistant under Doug Bibby at Central; he was also an asst. for Beachwood, Cincinnati Taft and the head 8th grade coach at Farsley Middle school. I would expect Valley to have a very similar style to that of Central. He takes over a job that has not had a lot of recent success. In a district with PRP, Fairdale, Holy Cross and Beth Haven, the second spot in this district is wide open next year. St. Francis- Empty Whitefield-Empty

Waggener losses it’s two toughest and top defensive players in Ingram and Maddox to graduation. If everyone stays they will be very deep and ready to make the next step in the region, returning 9 of their top 11 including three starters. Rumors are that PF Kevin Kirby and SG Tony Washington are going to Fern Creek and point guard Brandon Wells to Central. If this happens they will lose 4 starters and three of top 4 back court players, along with top two low post players. Hill and Krathalm will be the only big’s left and super freshman (sophomore to be) Devon Cooper will have to burden more of the load then he did last year. So Waggener will move to the top of the 7th or stay middle of the pack.

I'm hearing Tony Williams is going to be the next coach at Doss. Former Doss and UofL player he is the current coach at St Francis did a good job there and he won't have to recruit to Doss they always have talent.

I disagree, Chad is a good hire. CAL has other previsions in place (no drinking, cursing just from what I heard I could be 100% wrong on that.) things of that nature. That takes away a few candidates alone. Also just because a coach is at a small school does not mean he is not a good coach. Most jobs in JCPS are who you know gets it.

Western is in serious rebuilding, they lose one of the top big in the state in Chris McGraw (Kentucky All-star team) along with the Guard who transferred in late from out of state. Rumor is Dontre Lowe a very good freshman is transferring to Waggener. This leaves only 5 guys returning on the varsity roster as they will graduate 8 seniors. They will be athletic as Western always is. One thing I always find interesting is they don’t play a lot of games compared to other. They played 23 games last year. (No clue how many lost due to snow) and 21 in 2012/2013.

Mingus is interesting he works at southern. Also heard moves were being made to get ride of him and bring crews back on as head coach before last year. Karma anyone. The former players would be good with Williams doing a great job at st. Francis this year. Anderson I don't think would be even considered after being accused of financing a drug ring.

I know it will get a good deal of interest but I know good asst. coaches and head coaches who are not even applying because of how that school is ran. Doesn't help with being in best district in the state top to bottom.
