Trinity vs. Ballard 12/23 - KOB
citycat replied to Getslow's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Owens puts in a layup in the middle of some traffic. Then after a PRP miss, Schmitt gets another 3 for the Shamroxks. Trinity's lead stretched to 43-27 with 30 seconds left in the third. Then Schmitt gets a steal and finds Spalding streaking to the basket for a two-handed slam. PRP then misses a chance to tighten it; miss a three at the buzzer. 45-27 at the end of three quarters. Just to be clear on the stats, it was not Schmitt with the steal it was the Ramser kid. Schmitt was the kid that had FIVE turnovers and really should not have been on the floor. If Szabo plays the Schmitt kid in the finals he will be eatin alive. -

It was hard to tell when the referees came on the floor and when they called the T. Doss was dunking everything in warmups, one kinda thought they were trying to get into LexCath heads. Honestly I would say they had their choice as it was dunk city in warmups. -

Yes, Tanner hit two free throws to start the game due to Doss dunking in pregame -

It is very early in the year but it is playing out like many on this board has discussed b4. Trinity is young and inexperienced and will go thru growing pains as evidenced last night. One would think they will continue to improve (or not) as the juniors get more playing time. Stafford must develop some type of distributor role when Ivory is out. He rarely looks to pass other than lobs to Spalding. Levitch and Thieneman both play big roles also. The kid with the tremendous upside is the Ramser kid. A player that acts/thinks like a coach on the floor will be invaluable for this team. He also locks down on defense as Szabo definitely put the kid in for critical defensive stops. Its already interesting how these kids (along with Knight-Goff) have already pushed Owens to the bench. If Owens is going to be of value to this team he needs to play inside and not think he is a perimeter player. Ramser and Levitch are the bombers on the team. Mark your calendar for Friday Feb. 14 for the regular season rematch of these two teams at Trinity. I hope we get to see Davis play the entire game and not get in foul trouble this time around. I would anticipate a great game between these two in mid Feb. Lafayette has a good cast around Davis as seen last night when they essentially played the first half without Davis.

That is an amazing score. I have seen the Bobcats play and I would have never thought they could beat Male. good job Betsy Lane

If you are referring to the freshman, that statement is just plain inaccurate

Lets not get carried away. The kid is very, very short and a turnover machine. Needs to develop an outside shot also but he does have alot of potential. To say he would start at almost every other school other than Ballard is just not accurate. -

I would say it was a very entertaining game. Obviously not alot of defense. Snider and Martin played like the players they are are really dominated the game. Scott County's trio of Gilbert, Ware, and Martini are three tough customers. I actually thought they played better without Long in the game. Lets just say Long is very, very raw. The biggest question now though is the health of Jalen Perry. He got hurt early in the game and was in crutches afterwards.

7th Region Notebook; Week of Dec. 2
citycat replied to Getslow's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I am not a fisherman, but clearly your avi would indicate that you appear to be quite the handler. A notebook and "things" to look for in the seventh region without mentioning one of the top five teams in the state would seem to be quite an oversite IMO. -

Interesting "Notebook" for the 7th Region that mentions: Ballard, Central, StX, Eastern, CAL, Male, and Waggener. I think there is a white elephant standing in the middle of the room. -
As like every year the Fast Lane Classic was terrific. Well run day of basketball and activities/entertainment. Nice people too. Thanks for such a fun day.

Hazard and Betsy Lane was not a very close game. The big Hudson kid from Hazard was too big and strong for the Bobcats to defend. Peyton Chase had a really nice game for Betsy Lane Trinity pretty much controlled the game with Johnson Central. Ivory and Owens led the way but the key to the game was the 12 points added from Ramser. He hit a three ahead of the first quarter buzzer to give Trinity the lead and then had an old fashioned three point play at the end of the second quarter as Trinity ended the second quarter on a 10-0 run. As reported in another thread Ray Spalding did not play the first have due to disciplinary reasons. Shane Hall had a good game but had trouble with Trinity's length.

Ashland-Huntington-Ironton 2nd most miserable city in America
citycat replied to spindoc's topic in BGP Break Room
Honestly the decline of the area began when Ashland Oil moved their headquarters from Ashland to Lexington. Ashland Oil lobbied for years for Boyd and Greenup County to become "wet" counties. When they finally gave up and moved, that coupled with the railroad decline was just too much for the area to handle. I feel sorry for the youth of that area, you almost have to leave the area to get a good job. -
Courier-Journal's Preseason Top 25
citycat replied to BIG BLACK JACK's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Doss beat PRP this summer easily. Lafayette beat PRP at PRP this summer and Trinity beat PRP THREE times this summer. They say its hard to beat a team three times but sometimes the other team just flat out better. -

Jervase, Hayden and Colby will all turn on Tyson when they find out he didnt tell them he has the immunity idol. He let them babysit Tina all day and they wont like that. The "big brother guy" is looking pretty good right now.
