  1. Also other person you note is Jax Levitch (Trinity), he plays mainly as guard but is tall and long.
  2. Brandon Johnson (Jeffersontown High). The scripture is "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
  3. Nothern KY Bulldogs played to a 2 point game with final margin happening with about 3 secs left in the game. That game was a possession by possession game with both team making mistakes at this end as the game could have went either way. The WKY Elite game, The Ville was down by 6 to start the 4th quarter. Those guys was some great shooters but The Ville matched their shooting with great shooting as well. Johnson had 6 3s that game, along with Levitch and Dalton making some shots as well. The play of the game was by Hall who had a ESPN top 10 dunk on a kid who tried to take a charge (video should be available at some point). Very nasty.... Against Hoop Dreams and Retros, The Ville guys just played great as a team on offense and defense. So many weapons you have to try and stop but it all starts with team ball...
  4. Travelers just didn't have the players to play in 17s this year. They might have done well in 16s but the competition in 17s is really at a high level this year. Louisville Magic just don't have enough quality players for legal 17s AAU. Ville vs Hoop Dreams will be a game to watch. Death will not be a issue, Ville plays at a high level with the 8 player they have.
  5. All Ville players will be available Saturday night as it is only Jr Prom..... With Levitich's dad as coach and winning state a big priority for the team, everyone will be available.
  6. This make it a little better.... http://www.playkba.com/AsaPages/Fitness%20Training.aspx
  7. Evan Hall has handled himself well against other big men in April. And Will Parker as his backup or playing along side of Hall, it becomes really tough down low. But there is also another 5 guys you have to contain for The Ville. Levitch is deadly from the outside and can get to the basket with his length. Staford is really good at getting to the basket and is becoming a better shooter. Johnson has been on fire from the 3 line and has been working on getting to the basket with authority (several dunks this year). Dalton is probably one of the best point guards in the state and controls the game well. Christon is a nice power forward (if he stays out of foul trouble). And Cochran is a lock down defender who can also shoot well from the outside. The game against the NKY Bulldogs should be an interesting pool match up. The Retros is half of the guys from last year 16U winners. The other half in on the Next Level squad. Have not seen either squad play so those 2 teams could be very interesting.
  8. Is Spaulding on the trip? The statistics says he played 1 game and had 1 shot.
  9. Transy Basketball arena.
  10. I was very impressed the Hagen in the tryouts, certainly had a better showing than 50% of the people on that list. By looking at the list, it is mainly name based and others are political based..
  11. The weekend for The Ville was hampered by the fact of Travel back to Georgetown for Jr All Star in which 5 kids participated in the workout. Which forced a forfeit of a pool game and a late 9:45 bracket game after the kids traveled for 6 hours, worked out for 5 hours. The goal is to be prepared for the Addias Spring Classic in which college coaches will be watching...
  12. Many EYBL teams play other tournaments as well as the EYBL league. The only real difference is it is a league ran by Nike with a lot of dollars behind it. It does not mean the kids are the best of the best. A lot of EYBL teams also participated in AAU Nationals. It seems that this year the state AAU is same time of the first week of EYBL in California. More than likely, the 16U will play up in a loaded 17U field. The statement of avoiding KY teams go back to last year talk with the Louisville Magic trying to get a game with the Travelers. Surely you know who the Magic had last year. You just can't say you are the best in the state if you don't play teams in your state. AAU state is the best place to make that point. Ville, Hoop Dream, Next Level/Young Life, Magic, Retros and many others play in tournaments that have other EYBL teams playing.
  13. Having seen the KY Jr All Star tryout this weekend, I think Terrell Gray (Doss) is very good. Jeremiah Bell is falling from the list.
  14. Till they play other teams in the state, that can't be said. Last year they avoided KY teams. and very sure they would not want to play a KY team this year. On paper they maybe but until they play, no so fast...
  15. You can find schedule for tournament at Knoxvegas Heat
  16. It seems they have poor planning considering most quality kids are starting the AAU season that weekend. I know they are scheduling around spring break but I think it is bad timing. But all should work out.
  17. Coach, do you have any 17U players trying out the Jr KY all-Stars, if so how does that affect the tournament you are playing that weekend (April 11-13 Bearcat Classic - Cincy)?
  18. Levitch is able to show more of what he can do during AAU season. He does a good job of getting to the basket but he is a better catch/shooter.
  19. I thought at least 4 qualify via the state tournament. Plus I believe a KY team should have a good seed via hosting the tournament (which is a good think when it comes to bracket play). TheVille2015 already has an automatic bid via where they placed last year in Nationals. I could not find the list on where the #1 KY team will get seeded though but it should be top 6 for hosting, then there should be another seeded spot for KY based upon their history automatic bids: http://image.aausports.org/dnn/boysbasketball/pdf/automaticbids/div1/11thGradeDI.pdf
  20. He can be a grade exception but depending on AAU rules he must also not be older than a certain age on 9/1.
  21. The bigger question is Shelton & Grundy are playing 17U again this year? Both of these guys should be freshman in college in the Fall. Does your game get better by stepping down a level?
  22. Kidwell/Stafford matchup should be more Kidwell/Dalton matchup. Stafford is not a true point guard but does well getting to the basket. Kidwell does not see the floor as well as a point guard should. As a note, The Ville played better (month of July) with Dalton at the point vs Kidwell (May/April) if that says much. The competition was about the same or better in July. Also Trinity's system does not fit Levitch game. He can play given the opportunity. When we played the Travelers in Atlanta, he was the main person who Calipari (whose son played with Travelers last year) mentioned as person the Travelers need to keep ball away. I haven't really seen Ramser played but he was getting time with Trinity, so he has to be decent.
