Its coming. All the kid has to do is stay healthy and stay straight. I am a little bias but I have been around the game for a long time (I coached his dad back in the day) He is the best athlete I have seen in this neck of the woods - by a long shot. Whatever position he plays in high school he will excel. He legitimately has the chance of being the all-time leading rusher at BGHS, the all-time leading scorer at BGHS, the all-time leading special teams TD guy as well as the all-time leader in interceptions. If the coaches wanted to (and they don't) they could make each of those happen by leaving him in the game on certain nights playing inferior competition. If healthy, he will have more than 2,000 all purpose yards this season.

LSU has made official offer to standout class of 2020, Vito Tisdale Many may not realize this but Vito wears number 7 because of his favorite player Leonard Fournette. LSU has always been a "favorite" school of Vito because of Fournette. I think Vito is mature enough to make a decision of which school to attend based upon his skill set and what the team will need but, no mistake about it, LSU and Death Valley would be a pretty sweet pick for a youngster. Offers like this, along with his play and camps he will attend will quickly propel him into a 5star recruit (currently, 4star) Keep working Vito - stay on straight and narrow and keep getting in the open field!!

Purples come in to the game with still a couple of points to prove (to themselves) 1. The defense will be tested with facing a handful of speedsters for first time. CHardin never was a threat concerning speed. PRP lost a lot but still has athletes that can hurt you in an open field 2 Special Teams frustrations. Goal #1 for this team is to allow Vito to receive the ball. Teams are kicking/punting away from him. The one time CHardin did punt him the ball - score. He will score often and a lot of teams make that mistake. Unfortunately, not many teams here on out will give him the honors to receive it 3 Offensive line will see what they are made of in the next 3 weeks. Outside of 1 drive last Friday, they did an above average job. Keep it up Looking forward to the game. Side note that no one is talking about but will be soon. BG QB, Baeu Bucannon, has transformed his body into a potential D1 QB. Everyone that knows him from last year saw his height was ready, his arm was ready, his skill set was ready but his frame on his body was just not there. He has added 40 lbs (no fat) and looks great. His arms are huge. He will be playing on Saturdays. Purples 35 PRP 13

Purples win ugly but they still get the W! Two touchdowns called back on holding penalties as well as two drop catches in end zone. Purples leave 4 TDS on the field. Can’t get away with that very often and still come out on top. Beau Bucannon goes 26-36 with 239 passing yards Vito Tisdale rushes for 122 on 16 carries. As well as a 42 yard punt return for a TD. Voted offensive player of game New WR corps. Jordan Dingle (Sophomore) is D1 talent. D-line for Purples played well, early. Coach Spader, like in the scrimmage, played a very conservative game. Not a fan favorite offense but with Bucannon and his efficiency along with Tisdale and a couple of other weapons, I foresee steady improvement throughout season. Yes. Other BG teams have been better but give them some time to gel. Don’t need to peak till November anyway! Good job Purples. Keep working!

Purples and Coach Spader are aware that many of their season opponents and their coaches will be in attendance for tonight’s game. Strange that coach Kevin Wallace will be scouting AGAINST the Purples (He will be going for win #300 against the Purple and Gold - weird!). Brandon Smith and the Spartans of South Warren looked about as good as a team I have seen in week 1 in the Bluegrass. His entire staff will be there. More opponent coaches will be lurking in the crowd as well. For anyone that cares, here is a bold (but I think accurate statement) In the history of BGHS football on October 12 of this year, the Purples will play the best team they have EVER faced in Warren Central out of Indianapolis. I encourage you to google “Indianapolis Star” and watch their highlights of the game they played last night (beat the #4 team in state of Indiana). Every player on field looks like a college athlete - speed, size and skill at every position. Several D1’s with one of top WR preps in America. BG struggles no matter how you slice it, BUT Coach Spader played very conservatively. Minimal touches for Tisdale. Defensive backfield will get tested early in season. New coaches, a few tweaks to play calling, not showing all the cards... It seemed Male was Petal to the metal. No complaints but seemed kind of odd. Everyone is 0-0. Looking forward to next weekend

Not only the amount of work that has been put in to this but the quality of work is beyond impressive. Great job. Really looking forward to seeing how the season plays out. Also looking forward to the comments that will be made from your post. Great work, P88!

Huge shoes to fill. The only thing I know that is 100% accurate is that only time will tell. Coach Spader has more than proven himself as a defensive guru at the high school level. Defense is certainly his wheelhouse. He is a smart fella. He has put good coaches with him,along with a handful of existing coaches. They seem to be all on the same page. He will allow his coaches to take responsibility’s on the sidelines. He has 2 years of what should be 2 above average teams to make a run at some more hardware. 3 years from now, Purples will be competitive but may land back in reality. It’s been an incredible run and they are still feeling good about their future. I think they made correct hire. We shall see

Cant speak much on the other 5A teams but for the BG Purples there is some green in several key positions that will be first year starters. HOWEVER, we have 4 or 5 experienced starters on each side of the ball as well as some length at the WR position and some weight on the O-line. They have had a good camp and, like other teams, are eager to get the season started. About 1/2 of their opponents in the regular season is about as strong as a KY 5A school could have. Barring injury, this could prove very beneficial in the playoffs. Highlands and other 5A schools will be improved but I would think there is a 90% chance that CovCath will be waiting for either the Purples or the Spartans of South Warren. Anyone that follows BG knows that this program has not had a more difficult loss than the game that ended their season last year. Even though some big time schools are awaiting to play the Purples, the Purples only have one game circled on their regular season schedule. We would all agree that this is what makes High School football the best sport there is. As far as Vito Tisdale, he will spend more time this year on offense than defense. The boy better get some rest because he is going to have the ball in his hands a lot this season. He is a 4star recruit that is rated the 4th best prep safety in America in his class (and has never played Safety at BGHS). Although he will be playing on Saturdays in a couple of years in that position, he will get some major attention with recruiters now as an offensive guy. The last time he was a running back for an entire year was his 8th grade year. He gained a little over 2,000 yards and averaged right at 20 yards per carry. I know that wont happen now, but this will be the first year in a Purples uniform where everyone will truly see what a remarkable athlete he is. Looking forward to the season. Purple88 is correct. 7on7s will always have to be played post dead period, mid July. Heat will be factor 8 out of 10 years. You adjust tourney so your not competing with Mother Nature. When the July 7on7 invites goes out (late Spring), teams that want to participate can and teams that can’t participate due to $ or anything else for that matter can gracefully decline. Name of game in life is learn from your mistakes. Just don’t plan a tourney with teams from multiple states with game times throughout the heat of the day

I give credit to the chairman of the McCracken County 7on7 guy. He sent a very sincere private message to me explaining the effort that was made to communicate with coaches a few days ago, warning them about index. I love his idea of next year having varsity portion of 7on7 pool play on Friday evening with playoff bracket on Saturday morning. I know a lot of blood, sweat (lots of sweat!) and tears goes into this tourney. My only suggestion is don’t leave it up to the coaches to decide. Look at forecast a few days before and if heat index is questionable, pull the plug Appreciate him reaching out to me.

Purple88 will chime in later (after his 4+ hour drive home) We were at the tourney when they pulled the plug due to the heat index. I have no problem with the rule but I feel it could have been avoided Alter the times or just cancel the tourney BEFORE teams and fans made the journey. The forecast could have been seen by the ones in charge of the tourney Lots of unhappy customers...
