  1. I agree that MC is better. Central should win by 15, at least. However, something just tells me, ... South will need Ramey , Anders, and Cromer all to have big games.
  2. The Tribe is a locomotive right now. Playing great basketball. Something just tells me that come Monday in London I may see an upset... Just sayin'. May be a lot closer than most might think if Mr. Ramey & Co. have a good night.
  3. Explain. I'm telling you what I have observed for over forty years. What actually occurs and what is perceived about this town in other nooks and crannies of the state are usually not the same. In fact, in most of those nooks and crannies, the racism is as bad or worse. Glass. Houses. Stones.
  4. You really think it went away in 1955? Fella, we live in a very racist society. Unfortunately, those kind of things are still said all the time in every town. Until we quit making it a point to tread lightly on the subject of racism instead of facing it head on, those remarks will still be around in 2055.
  5. Cancelling the game in symbolic protest of Corbin kids' alleged racial intolerance.
  6. Schools with predominantly African-American ball players. I know the Dorman(SC) teams that came to Corbin usually had near 100% black athletes.
  7. I've seen people in every region consistently bash the "crooked" refs. It's happened since the beginning of time. Again, that calls into question the integrity of KHSAA officials. Are you saying they lack the utmost integrity? don't you think most refs try to call a fair game?
  8. Just what is Corbin's image in your view??? I have view games there for forty plus years. I have seen black kids play hundreds of games there. No incidents. Good sportsmanship. Corbin invites black schools to play in their tournaments and from what I've observed they are treated extremely well and the fans love seeing those schools come and compete. I have seen ugly incidents at games elsewhere but not at Corbin. Corbin and Knox have never been friendly. It's nasty both ways between those schools. But other schools have been treated fine over the years.
  9. I respect that you've watched a lot of basketball. But just sayin', Doss loses if they had played Saturday.
  10. Are you saying referees are biased(prejudiced) in favor of certain schools over others? That calls into question the integrity of KHSAA referees. From what I've seen most refs try to do a good and fair calling of games, regardless of he site of the game.
  11. Wrong. It is not likely that Doss would have left Corbin with a in. They probably knew that.
  12. What's so funny? Do you think KY has a better chance than those teams?
  13. I think an opportunity was missed here. Picture this. Doss comes to Corbin. Pre-game press conference with both coaches together. The host school's coach says how pleased he is to have such a quality school, outstanding team, and quality bunch of kids come down to play in the Petrey Classic. On behalf of the host school, the Corbin coach presents the Doss coach with a $1,000 check to be donated to a charity benefiting inner-city kids in Louisville. Prior to the beginning of the game, the two teams meet at center court in one of those prayer circle thingys, a Corbin player, Doss player, Corbin player, Doss player, each white hand clasping a black hand. Twitter, Facebook, post it all over social media... viral videos of the racial harmony kind . It could be a pretty powerful message to all involved. Again, I think both schools missed an opportunity.
  14. NEVER that I remember. Ask Dorman (SC) what they think of coming to Corbin. If they had had a bad experience, would they have come back year after year to play in the Falls Invitational? The Dorman kids loved coming to Corbin.
  15. VERY true. If Corbin had a scheduled game at Knox Central next week, there is no way that the Corbin kids could go into that place.
  16. Does anyone think Doss is right in taking a figurative knee in protest and packing up their balls to Collins instead of Corbin?
  17. Again, NO reason not to play this game between two really good teams. Corbin has been host to the CFIT every December for the past thirty-plus years. Almost every year they invite teams from all over the Southeastern US, especially from North and South Carolina. Dorman(SC) was invited several years. They even won the tourney one year. These teams are almost 100% African-American. From what I observed, Corbin loved having them at their tourney and the kids loved being there. Doss would have been treated very well and the fans would have loved having them there playing(and losing to) the home team.
  18. You keep thinking that. Maybe that will cancel out my feeling that they're not gonna be fine.
  19. I've been thinking about posting on this topic but didn't know whether to post it here or in the Controversial forum. From what I hear, Doss WILL NOT be coming to Corbin on Saturday. Everyone around the Corbin program has been pretty quiet on this. There was no mention on the radio about the game being canceled, just that North Laurel would be at Corbin on Friday and Corbin would go to Pulaski on Tuesday. It was as if the Saturday game never existed. What I want to see happen is this--- Corbin and Doss both advance to the State Tourney and win their way into the championship game. What happens then? Will Doss take a knee in protest before the game? Will they refuse to play the title game and forfeit the trophy to Corbin? Of course not. Saturday's game is one that could have and should have been played. A lot of hyperbole hit the airwaves all the way up to the Derby City and convinced some that playing this game could be dangerous and ignite racial tensions. I have no doubt that the game would have been fun, competitive, exciting, and conflict-free. Doss should have lived up to its contractual obligation. I have every reason to think those young Dragons would have been treated just as well as any other visiting school would be treated. Corbin knows how to dish out the hospitality!!! Come on down Dragons!!!
