  1. I, for one, root for U of L whenever they play anyone except for UK or some of the other in-state schools. No one should be happy about them having their national title stripped away. Obviously, a lot of mistakes have been made but there are lots of great U of L fans that are hurting over this and that's not something to be happy about. Let's face it, UK may be on the other end of this someday(AGAIN). I'm still gonna be cheering the Cards on(especially when they take on the likes of Duke and UNC).
  2. How would you like shooting a free throw while a student is "giving birth"? This is a creative one from Sheridan HS in Ohio.
  3. The Steamboat/ Flair matches are a must watch for anyone who enjoys old school pro wrestling.
  4. This guy 's career was wrapping up when I was just a little boy. Let me tell you, he may be the best technical wrestler ever. Lou Thesz' career lasted 55 years, encompassed 6,000 matches, over 16 million miles logged, and over 200 bones broken. I like this quote from Mike Mooneyham: "Watching Lou perform in the ring was like watching poetry in motion. The 6-2, 225-pounder moved with catlike speed and quickness and could wrestle his way out of any situation. He was a legitimate tough guy, known in his day as a “hooker,” a wrestler who could inflict serious punishment on his opponent, snapping bones and dislocating joints at will. "
  5. Good picks. Both were good mat technicians. Some of you old guys like me may remember Mike Rotunda when he first started out; others may remember him as Irwin R. Schyster(IRS). Love that name. What some of you may not know is that his father-in-law was the late Blackjack Mulligan and his brother-in-law is former Horseman, Barry Windham. Also, how many of you knew that Mike Rotundra's sons are Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas?
  6. I guess it's safe to assume the author of this thread doesn't approve of ASU's "Curtain of Distraction." I think it's funny as heck.
  7. Hounds will live to play another day but they won't be hoisting a district trophy. Cards have too much talent and will take this one. GRC will have to play well to win this one, though. I believe they'll do just that.
  8. We play Friday evening against Matthew Cromer , J.J. Ramey , Ryan Anders & the South Laurel Cardinals. Goldie, you know what a tough opponent they can be. We have our hands FULL!!!
  9. In this thread, I am interested in hearing who you think are the best pure wrestlers(technicians, so to speak). Let's face it, some of the biggest names in the history of pro wrestling couldn't wrestle a lick( i.e., Hulk Hogan). Who would make your list as guys who were good technical wrestlers? I know many of you are younger than me so you may not even recognize some of the ones on my list. Trust me, though, these guys could flat out do some real wrestling. In no particular order, here are a dozen that would make my list: 1. Lou Thesz 2. Dean Malenko("Man of a 1000 Moves") 3. Chris Benoit 4. Johnny Weaver 5. Mr. Wrestling(George Burrell Woodin) 6. Bret Hart 7. Kurt Angle 8. Bob Backlund 9. William Regal 10. "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig 11. Ricky Steamboat 12. Eddie Guerrero
  10. Final last night from Corbin in the 50th District semifinal round. Taylor finished with 30 points and a boatload of boards. He was 16-16 from the FT line. Corbin was 25-28 from the line. I want to give a shout out to Whitley County senior Corey Johnson. He finished with, I believe, 31 points to close out his career. The young man gave it his all. He left his blood(literally) out on the floor last night. A bad cut over his eye couldn't keep him out for good, though. The young man is one of the best long-distance shooters I've seen in many years. He doesn't hesitate to pull up from 35 ft. What a tremendous shooter and competitor. Corey, it has been such a pleasure watching you play. I was on my feet applauding when you went out late in the game. I wish you the best in everything you do in life. I'm sure you'll be a success in whatever you do!!!
  11. I think we(the Cards) should win by at least 10, but I think this is a dangerous game. Paris has been playing well of late. Having said that, I'm confident the Cards will take care of business.
  12. And that alone is worthy of great respect. I never heard him speak badly of another person or another religion, even though I'm sure he disagreed with them. I wish his son was more like him in that respect.
  13. I know he can't shoot a lick but I sure like what he gives them around the basket in terms in rebounds and in the energy he brings every single second he's on the court. He's relentless.
  14. Vanderbilt gives them what I call "beast energy." They've needed someone with beast mode mentality when it comes energy and determination. That's what he gives them.
  15. I talked to his grandson, Will, a year and a half ago. When I asked about Rev. Graham, he told me that his grandfather has almost died just a few months prior. He then went on to say that his grandfather had outlived most all of his close friends such as Bev Shea . He said Reverend Graham had expressed a desire to stay around as long as God wanted him to, even though his missed his wife, Ruth, terribly.
  16. Whenever Rev. Graham was being interviewed on television, I never missed it. He was one of those few that always captured my attention.
  17. Was the best I've seen from them this year.
  18. It's really a sad state of affairs in college sports nowadays. Cheating, prostitutes, adidas, slimy coaches and administrators. I don't enjoy the games like I used to when I was young. Of course, I'm sure the same slimy stuff went on then as well. It's all pretty sad. Our society is pretty slimy. Shame.
  19. One game at a time for the Cards. The journey begins anew. Hopefully, a championship is at the end of the rainbow.
