Top 15 Players in the state of Kentucky Regardless of Class
What I'm trying to say is this. Your son gets a phone call from a school, what's the 1st thing you do as a parent? You go to the team website and check out how many position players are in his spot on the roster and how many will be graduating. You see he has a good opportunity to play, then he signs. He shows up on campus and the school has signed 2 JUCO's and a Canadian which play the same position. One who may be a stud and will be drafted after the season. They weren't your kids mentor because he tranfered in and has no loyalty to the school. All your son has is a missed year of playing time and falling behind. I agree NKU needed to do something, but I'm talking about it from the recent graduate's or soon to graduate point of view.

Top 15 Players in the state of Kentucky Regardless of Class
Louisville is one of the top programs in the country, you cant campare NKU or Morehead to them either. They have won there conference countless times and moving to the ACC. It has been routine for them to go to the CWS with coach Mac.

Top 15 Players in the state of Kentucky Regardless of Class
That is apples and oranges. Its like asking if he went for football where would he go... Bowling Green or Ohio State. Plus, I referring to the opportunity a freshman player would have at one of those schools who are constantly reloading with older players and have less underclassmen. Its something to consider when choosing a school.

Another thing recruits have working against them is how schools get players and their commitment to developing recently graduated high school players. NKU has 7 players from Canada and most played on Canada's National team. Morehead State has 18 JUCO and tranfers which really put freshmen at a disadvantage of getting any playing time until their Junior year. Even if your kid was offered a scholarship from these schools would you want them to go? Better off to go NAIA, D2, or D3 and get to play early even though it happens there also.

Top 15 Players in the state of Kentucky Regardless of Class
The problem is most high D1 scholarships are gone. The ones left left will go to JUCOs, pitchers and tranfers. Need to get that D1 their Junior year. Tulane has aready announced their 2015 class. Baseball recruitment is changing.

Who is in the running for NKY player of the year?
Schriever, Ganns, Dunn and Suchanek signed D1, Forbes was the regional tourney MVP last year. Stringer's commitment gives these guys the preseason edge. Caple from Dixie, Verst from Brossart and Rogers from St. Henry have signed also along with Ross(D1) from Conner which gives them a leg up out of the gate, long season... its yet to be determined.

Fuller is a baseball guy and understands the college recruitment game. He has coached players drafted and seen his kids play in college. He will give an honest assessment but the player has to perform at the showcases in front of the colleges. The line in the sand is round 6.7's 60yd, 88mph from the hill, close to 90mph from the outfield and mid 80's fron IF, pop times under 2sec and exit velocity of over 90mph. That's the competition level for D1 IMO.

Who is in the running for NKY player of the year?
I saw Caple at a PBR event, physically imposing for sure and a cannon to 2nd, needs consistency at the plate. King has a world of potential, suppose to be back to 90% after terrible reaction from having his wisdom teeth removed. That is great news. If I'm right Kearns is a very crafty pitcher(?) and should be Dixie's ace this year. Where does he play in the field?

Who is in the running for NKY player of the year?
I think the lefties have the advantage, Combs is hurt by his home field but Boone, Conner, and Cov Cath all have short porches to right. Anyone on the radar from Campbell Co, St. Henry, Dixie, or Brossart?

Who is in the running for NKY player of the year?
I think the award usually goes to an upperclassmen but the athletes mentioned are very talented and will definitelly have a say in the matter. Suchanek is the glue at Beechwood, if the numbers are close I think the honor goes to him.

Who is in the running for NKY player of the year?
1. It's Schreiver's to lose, needs to have a better year than last to be in the running 2. Jason Suchanek is the lead dog of the 3 headed dragon of Beechwood; pitching, fielding, hitting... no tool left wanting 3. Mason Forbes a crowd favorite; diving catches and power to all fields... needs the Raiders to make a run to be left standing 4. Trey Ganns has had big gains in velocity over the summer and batted 3rd for the Flames with power. 5. Hunter Dunn definitely has the arm talent and has power at the dish, has to put it altogether to have a chance. How do you like the list and who else would you add?

How early is too early?
Awesome for Stringer! I will say I know of players who committed freshmen yr who when it comes down to signing only get a walk-on spot. Its their senior year and are left scrambling to find another D1 team. That won't be the issue with Ethan.

NKY baseball coaches association All-Star teams
Someone from Highlands will read my post and set me straight. If I am wrong and he doesn't play any 3rd I'm going to get buried! Lol, should've checked the roster before I posted. Shouldn't assume.....

NKY baseball coaches association All-Star teams
I seen him play twice, he was at 3rd . He is listed on the roster as an outfielder only, my mistake.

NKY baseball coaches association All-Star teams
There was more gamesmanship from the Highlands Coach, Hector Molina was a 3rd baseman, not an OF. I guess it's all part of the politics.

NKY baseball coaches association All-Star teams
I like how Mullins put Combs in at 1st, knowing that Tiberi would get the 3rd base nomination. That's looking out for your players. I may not agree, but you have to tip your hat to him for that.

NKY baseball coaches association All-Star teams
I do think Tyler Mason should have been on the team. He is the RBI and batting avg leader for most of the year I believe on Ryle's offense. The stats on Cincinnati.com haven't been updated for Ryle in weeks. You mention Forbes, I believe the head coach nominates the players from his team, there are so many quality seniors I would definitely start there. You have to respect Roesel for that. As the outfielders go.....Fogle's numbers are incredible, Thomas Baumann set all kinds of records, and Schreiver, though his avg. is down, is such a threat and a great defender. It was great Forbes was named 9th Region MVP, and has a chance to get recognition at state if he stays hot, but the outfield selected is outstanding. Forbes over Suchanek for Jr All-star? Suchanek pitches and it gives the All-star team more options, he has had a great year and a top notch player, that is a coin toss. Again Schriever has a big name, homerun leader and is a big threat. I dont have any problem with the selections. I am surprized Smith got the nod over Plvan.

Ryle 4 Dixie Heights 0 (9th Region Championship)
I agree, when Ashley threw out Fogle and Ross from Conner during the regular season a college coach came to him and said you are my starting catcher next year! Great kid, he has some power still yet to be seen at State.

Ryle vs Dixie (9th region championship) predictions?
After a terrible start Dixie has accumulated 27 wins. Only 4 less than the Raiders. Very impressive, They played Ryle very tough their last meeting and I'm sure they are ready to lace up the cleats. With that said, Ryle is rolling, they wouldn't care who they are playing, they just want to get on the field and play their brand of baseball. Ryle had most of its starters out of the game last night by the 5th. All those boys were on the fence rooting on the players who took their spots. Special chemistry on this team for sure.

Dixie Heights 6 Beechwood 2 (9th Region Tournament)
Stringer is a great player, to me, especially after the run, you needed a momentum change. There is no doubt Stringer is a very talented player, Coach Lemonis from Louisville was there, I'm sure to keep an eye on him and Combs.

Dixie Heights 6 Beechwood 2 (9th Region Tournament)
The tough question is this, why wasn't Suchanek put in to pitch?, definitely one of the best pitchers in the region, he had only thrown 3 innings, there is no need to save him for the next game.... Now his next game will be with his summer team. The coach had several opportunities, even a trip to the mound... JMO

9th region predictions
You said it! Like they said its a coin flip. Some competitive baseball in NKY that's for sure.

9th region predictions
Prep baseball report analysis.... 1st round – Newport Central Catholic over Dixie Heights, Beechwood over Boone Co, Ryle over Covington Catholic, Highlands over St, Henry Semi-Finals – Beechwood over Newport Central Catholic, Ryle over Highlands Championship – Ryle over Beechwood Best 1st round game – Flip a coin, seriously. Four 1st round games, all of which could go either way. If we have to pick one – Covington Catholic vs Ryle, they split the season series and this is as much a toss- up game as any first round game in any region. Analysis – I stared at the bracket for an hour and got nowhere. If ever there was a region up for grabs, this is it. Ryle is our choice to advance, with a senior laden squad that has been the most consistent team in the region this spring. In a region that is lacking dominant pitching, we are going with the best offensive team to win it with Baumann, Forbes, Mason, Plvan, and company. Keep an eye on Beechwood. They are loaded with young talent with three freshman in their starting lineup, and we look for them to make a run to the finals.

Regional 9 - Who does the turf benefit most?
I had a scout tell me Dylan Plvan is the best defensive 3rd baseman in the state. Game changer. The longer Cov Cath or Ryle stays in the tourney the better their chances become, both have great offenses, the deeper they get into bullpens the more big innings they will have. Whoever wins this game should win the district .

Ryle vs Boone (33rd championship) predictions
Boone has Huff who pitched well against the raiders at their meeting at Freedom. They also have Klein, Stanley and Cam. It will be interesting to see who gets the nod.
