  1. Forbes 3-4 HR 2 RBI, Cordrey 3-3 RBI, Downs 2-3 2 RBI, Ast 2-3 3B, WP- Ziegelmeyer 6 IP 3 H 0 ER 3 K
  2. Congratulations to fine young man and ball player
  3. No wonder they are rolling over everyone. An incredible year so far for sure.
  4. Most teams report to the Cincinnati Enquirer, if your school doesn't get on them, it makes it easier for Colleges to follow your players. Here is the link, to busy to pull the names out now. Cincinnati.Com | Baseball Leaders
  5. IMO Suchanek is one of the top pitchers in the region, but with his effort level isn't built to throw a complete game. Plus they need his defense at SS. He is carrying the load as the other players mature and show flashes of what we hope they can sustain with experience. Combs from what I'm told, his pitching has improved since summerball. The problem with HS is getting in bullpens and evolving grips as the pitchers settle into arm slots, release points and their mechanics. Things that are very important as the mph's go up. Will they get it together before regionals? idk but that is what's going to make this year so exciting! King and Brown with Freedom instruction, Ganns, Bellew and Suchanek with Flames instructors, Dunn with Bluegrass and all his dad's study and EKU throwing program, Stringer and Combs with Midland instruction, not to leave out C. Ross and Blaise O who are excellent on the mound! Pitching is the highest its been here in years. That is leaving out Kerns who I think is undefeated and even more. NKY teams have been more than holding their own with teams across the state, I for one like it!
  6. Realizing defense and earned runs definitely come into play but here are some stats based solely on runs per game. Dixie 2.47 Boone 3.1 Cov Cath 3.52 Conner 3.94
  7. Forbes homered into the graveyard in left-center and tripled. Bellew goes 6 and 2/3rds for the win, Brennan gets the save.
  8. IMO Stringer is a swing and miss pitcher, coming from summer ball tourneys where time limits govern seeding games and hitters trying to make an impression on scouts before they run off to see another prospect. When players take pitches and don't try to win the game on a single swing is where he needs improvement. He is only a sophie, he will learn 83mph low on the corner is better than 88mph high against the backstop. IMO he projects as a corner OF and will be checking Fox sports south in couple years to see him play. The good thing about baseball is the next dose of humble pie is right around the corner, over exuberance on extra base hits only brings bad karma. I also understand Beechwood is a small school and likes the giant killer role which is exciting, but they haven't won anything yet and need to keep the 'discount double check' in their pocket for awhile longer. Also the Cov Cath batters proved they could shrink the strike zone against Dunn, seems as if they did the same against Stringer, got to tip your hat to a well coached offense that makes the pitcher pitch his best.
  9. I will say with the Ryle pitcher against Moeller you were sitting there waiting for the explosion and the wheels to fall off. Ryle did have several errors and walks that cost them. Ryle's catcher worked his butt off and gunned a runner at 3rd. 2 plays cost Ryle offensively, 1- trying to go 2nd to home on an infield single(perfect time to try it) 2- a hit and run with runners and 1st and 2nd with the runner thrown out at 3rd(pitch was unhittable). The Crusaders had 3 more hits than the Raiders. The 1st pitcher for Moe had a great FB that ran back to the hands that would be pulled foul and a slider that dropped late. Great combination touching 84, 2nd pitcher touched 86. The top of Ryle's lineup was on deck as the last out was made, it was getting interesting.
  10. Super Sophomore Jake Zegielmeyer throws a complete game 3 hit shut out.
  11. I saw Trey Ganns and Zach Shannon lock horns in Champions fall league playoffs. Ganns was devastating as his team won. This game will prove if the Rebels have the bats or not. As Krump said, they don't have anyone around mid-80's, if Boone can score they should win.
  12. The sad thing is the players will have to pay for the actions of the fans. The umps with seniority will take other games, freshmen and JV umps will be doing the games for the Rebs for the rest of the season. With a fan ejection this had to be reported to the KHSAA, another black eye on a talented team. If a NKU or EKU coach was there to keep tabs.... well the fans didn't do the players any favors. There is no justification for what happened, none, not now or ever will be.
  13. What I'm worried about is players losing opportunities because of parents and their reputation. As my kid came through the ranks many players were not recruited to elite travel teams based soley on the parents or the players reputation. That was a high profile game because of the starting pitchers. There could have been pro scouts, college scouts or PBR there. It would be terrible if a player didn't get an invite to the underclassmen games or top prospect games because of their parents or a college scout thinking this program doesn't produce the type of player my athletic director demands. When the competitive level is close between 2 players, a parent can be the death nail that holds a player back from opportunity they are qualified for.
  14. In 2014 a parent yelling at the umps doesn't change the call? Imagine that. As we have seen from replay even professional umpires make mistakes. Lets say the ump's interpretation of the rule was totally wrong, still no place to embarrass the players by getting ejected. Let the kids play, sit down and zip it or don't come at all. That game wasn't about anyone's vast knowledge of the game in the bleachers. Great pitching match up. Probably the best seen in the county for several years.
  15. Those boys played like they wanted to give Arlo the win record last night. Ross pitched like he wanted some payback for Ryle knocking them off last year in districts. He got it in spades. Congrats to Conner and to the coach for setting the win record.
  16. Your killin' me Smalls! Who's going to post after a moderator jumps in with big RED letters??? Lol, gotcha, I knew that.
  17. Highlands squeaks past Elder Cincy Enquirer
  18. Ryle lost to Dixie, Nick King had an impressive pitching performance. Ryle has had some growing pains but I think they are getting some things figured out.
  19. I heard Trinity started their #1 or #2, impressive slugging for sure.
  20. Zach Shannon did not pitch but played 1st.
  21. We need to let this one go fellas, BW fans need to tip their hats to Conner who didn't start the season very highly ranked and Conner fans need to realize they faced a starting pitcher who sitting low 70's ams lacking experience. Though I would argue Blaise Ostertag is Conner's ace and Ross was coming back from injury, they didn't see him at his best. Nice to hear Combs showed college field homerun power and Hart going 3 for 3.
  22. Very tough situation for everyone. When your stuck on the field coaching 3rd base making substitutions is next to impossible. If the players were going station to station after it was out of hand then he did the right thing until he had a chance to study his book to sub players. Who says it was BW who reported the score anyway? We don't need PC police, my guess the Dayton players 10 years from now will get together.... one will say... remember when we played that team that had all the future college players on it? Man they were good!
  23. I don't think anyone would have been moaning if Dunn transferred to their school in December. Does he strike everyone out and always on top of his game? No, but he is the most projectable pitcher in the area. Are there some pitchers out there throwing 75mph undefeated? Sure, but at age 25 Dunn along with Ganns have the best chance at a career on the mound. Its a long hard road. No one knows the work those boys put in. I wish all NKY players success. I have yet to hear at a MLB game a pitcher's high school record anounced.
  24. Didn't A-Rod put on 22lbs his sophomore summer alone?
