No shame in giving up 4 runs to Moe.

I would think the norm for most high school pitchers, at least in this area, is around 75mph. There are kids that will sit in the low 80's and that would be considered an ACE of the staff. 71mph isn't too far off the norm IMO. I've gunned quite a few kids over the years and that seems to be the average. You obviously get the parents that will say "My boy was hitting 81mph the other day" and when I put the gun on them, it seems to be a different story. Just food for thought!:thumb:

I think 4-1 sounds like a great game. Usually means good D and small amount of walks. Throwing 71 isn't a crime. Maybe you meant nothing negative but it didn't come across that way. I watch a lot of kids who throw upper 70s to low 80s who are constantly behind 2-0, 3-1. That's boring.

Agree totally especially since Moeller is the defending Ohio Division 1 champions and ranked among the best teams nationally. No dog in the fight but I would give kudos to the pitcher and the Raiders this effort. Too many fall in love with the power arms. Fastball is the easiest pitch to time and hit.

I will say with the Ryle pitcher against Moeller you were sitting there waiting for the explosion and the wheels to fall off. Ryle did have several errors and walks that cost them. Ryle's catcher worked his butt off and gunned a runner at 3rd. 2 plays cost Ryle offensively, 1- trying to go 2nd to home on an infield single(perfect time to try it) 2- a hit and run with runners and 1st and 2nd with the runner thrown out at 3rd(pitch was unhittable). The Crusaders had 3 more hits than the Raiders. The 1st pitcher for Moe had a great FB that ran back to the hands that would be pulled foul and a slider that dropped late. Great combination touching 84, 2nd pitcher touched 86. The top of Ryle's lineup was on deck as the last out was made, it was getting interesting.
