Great discussion, but I have to go to a FTJFL game and see what the future holds.

At this point based on the first 4 weeks, Simon Kenton is the clear #1 in NKY. This coming from a Highlands fan. Sk by 28-30 pts. Ryle is 2 scores better than Cooper imo.

Go Tigers. Manhandle them again. Last year it was Men vs. Boys.

Everyone might be a 6 score favorite right now. That doesn't make your team good.

Enjoy your 2 years. There are better teams right now than Highlands right now. If Cooper, Ryle, SK are now top notch programs then go play a GCL team every year. Call a big Ohio school. Continue to play Highlands for years to come. At the end of 10 years, you'll have 1 or 2 wins over Highlands if you're lucky. Your coaches and players know it too. I root for all N. Ky teams. I watch all 6 state final games every year. Cooper 2012 made a nice run thru 4 mediocre teams and got beat in the finals by a couple scores. They were a nice team that Highlands would have beat by 4 scores. Go back and look at the rosters. Highlands was loaded with guys who went on and played college football.

I believe Ryle is at least 2 scores better than Cooper right now.

Campbell County will not win a game in 6A this year. Losing to NCC showed how weak they are this year.

They must've stayed out in Union.

As far as Highlands issues, there were some good things in that game. Offensively Hergott has to be set and he can make throws. I don't see much chance for success when he rolls out to his opposite hand. Defensively there's still problems against the outside run and outside pass patterns. There were a lot of good stops defensively when Ryle tried to run up the middle.

There's not one team in N. Ky this year that could've given the Highlands teams of the past 8 years a game for even a 1 quarter. It would have been blow out city. The coaches knew there was a 2 year opportunity to compete with Highlands and they came calling to take their shot. Opposing coaches knew it and Highlands knew it. Will they stay on the schedule in the future? I don't believe they will. I'm hearing the sophomore class on down is loaded again. I think all the N Kentucky coaches will drop the series again instead of taking their 60-80 point beatings and getting exposed as they were in the past. Congratulations! Enjoy you 1 win every 25-30 years or so over a Highlands team that's struggling right now.

Is 4 years ages for 5A titles? Highlands won the 5A title the first 4 years they had a 5A title 2007-2010. They only reason they didn't win the last 4 years of 5A titles is because they were forced to drop to 4A.

Depends on if you think 2011 is recent. Check the Elder Highlands scores and see if they've had tight games. 2013 is a controversial call at the end from a Highlands win. All the games have been tight games. Many Highlands fans felt going into this year that this may not be a team thats at the level of the previous 8. Ryle did step up for years and play Highlands even 2x a year for awhile. Ryle abruptly dropped the series and left Highlands scrambling for a date a few years ago. You'd have to ask Ryle why. Im sure everyone in Ft. Thomas preferred a game in Ft. Thomas or Union over driving to places like Paducah.

Will this be a game? I've read multiple people mention it will come down to line play. The Belfry line looks a lot bigger than Ncc. Ncc hasn't ever been known for big, strong, line play and the offense hasn't completely clicked yet. Belfry does look to have a frosh at Qb. I don't see how that can be good. I'm considering skipping the Highlands game and spending the evening with my NCC relatives, but 4 hours is a long drive. Especially if this is going to be a running clock type of game.

The mind set while take time. The schedule this year isn't going to help the mindset either. The last game being Scott Co. is also going to present a mental challenge heading into the playoffs. That's also potentially a rough night.

Speak for Covcath. Don't speak for Highlands. They should schedule big Ohio schools in years where they have top talent. The Elder Highlands series has been great games every year. Highlands has beaten Elder, Cincy X, and has had good competitive games with Colerain and Moeller. In years when there's high talent, those games are much better to play than drilling Covcath and Ryle by 50+. I don't believe it's any coincidence those schools aren't on Highlands schedule this year. It's also no coincidence either that more N.Ky. Schools agreed to play them.

This is a quality win. I remember hearing last year there was talk of ending football. Bellevue plays good competitive football in Class A about every year. Hopefully this is a sign Brossart isn't going anywhere and their program grows. What's the enrollment? Could they have to go back to 2A in 2 or 3 years?

A - Beechwood AA - DeSales AAA - Belfry AAAA - Johnson AAAAA - Highlands AAAAAA - Trinity That's correct. I'm sticking with Highlands. They could look awful and even be 1-5 and make a run like NCC does most years. I have confidence the coaches and players will keep working and turn it around. There's not a dominant team in 5A. Covcath, Pulaski, Bowling Green or Owensboro would be a challenge. This is not a year where they can stake a claim as a national top 25 team or the best team in Ky. They don't have to be.

I know that, but thought I should say it before UKfan did. Dixie is going to struggle for awhile though.

Ive seen part of all 3 Covcath games and most of all 3 Highlands games. That game could go either way. Both teams have many areas that aren't performing well. I wouldn't want to specify too closely what areas, so as not to hurt any player's feelings. They all work hard and all want to excel. The winner of the game may be happy with the game outcome, but both programs and all players have high expectations every year. I don't see much hope yet that it's going to be a normal year for either team.

I'd personally like to see Coach W go back to the defensive side of the ball. I wonder if he ever has any involvement with the defense anymore? There's been a few injuries but my feeling was the defense did a fair job the first week. I missed the 2nd half of the Campbell game, but the defense was sufficient that night too. The defense was non existent against Scott Co. There's a need for some changes in the scheme and possibly personnel too. Now is the time to reevaluate everything the team is doing on both offense, defense, special teams, personnel, and coaching. Im sure Coach W is doing that. He's a great football mind and will figure out the best way to give Highlands a chance to win. I've heard suggestions of move this player, move that player. The biggest change being put #27 on offense. Can you afford to take your best player off the defense when you can't stop a good team? Those are the type of decisions that make me glad I'm not the coach.

Possibly the best team in N Ky this year vs. the worst.

They didn't show much life today. Sycamore did look bigger and better than I expected though. I really don't know what to make of Covcath yet. They could still turn it around.

Nice win in the heat for NCC. I expected them to win. Good luck next week against Belfry.
