Could they? Yep, they COULD...and it's much much easier to see in basketball. How could it happen? Some transfer trickles in from out of state, turns out to be a darn good ball player. Maybe at the same time a foreign exchange student who just happens to be a 6'8 stud ball player shows up from X country. Couple of up and comers in the county see this and suddenly instead of being at Mercer County they are now at Burgin. Add in the 3 or 4 role players from Burgin who give everything for God, Country and Burgin basketball and now actually have a chance to get to the state tournament and bam, instant contender. Hey, it COULD happen.

Best tournament "besides" the Sweet 16? I'd say the Sweet 16 is at LEAST a distant 2nd to the KOB, and maybe behind some others as well. Sure, a state tournament championship is the ultimate goal for any team and you can't get that in the KOB, LIT, Lex Cath tourney, etc. But as far as matchups and quality of games, there are a LOT of snoozers in the state tournament most every year, lets face it. It's just how it is.

All I can say is...heck of a game, I didn't think BG would claw back but they did.
