South Oldham 81 Anderson County 70

Featured Replies

I thought these 2 would battle it out for the region this year, but it looks like it'll more likely be South Oldham and Oldham Co as the teams to beat, with Anderson Co still a big threat to either of them.

They don't keep score in warmups. Lol

From what I've been told by someone in attendance, the offensive rebounding with a subsequent kick out to an open 3 point shooter, really hurt the Bearcats tonight. Anyone who was there agree?

I've seen them play 4 times that is a weakness other than Gritton they don't rebound very well and I saw on the update thread I assume it was him who was referred to as being in early foul trouble. So I could see that to br a problem if South is shooting the three well they are very tough to beat if not they are beatable. Last years two games with Anderson showed that very well they South Oldham lost to Anderson by 29 73-44 then turned around in the regional final and won by 37 81-44.

Where was this game played and what horrible back roads were taken for this game to go down between two schools that have no business being in the same region?

The game was in Crestwood. Probably took 127 to 64 over to Gene Snyder north then took the LaGrange Road exit and 146 to Crestwood. Not too bad but I think of distances from Taylorsville or Lawrenceburg to Independence. Wow!

South will admit that they live and die by the three and yes when they are hot they can play with most teams. Bad nights are going to be an "L" like last years AC game at AC and in the Elite 8 game last year in Rupp. The thing that makes them tough is they have so many options to go to find that hot hand - Franklin, Young, Hoover, Beyerly -to go along with Griffin and his 20 ppg. From what I have heard Penney had a good game but did not have much support. I am not sure the box score but putting Hicks on him - a longer player with some quickness - may have limited his production. Now we will see how South handles the upcoming matches with OC, Collins and SK. Going to be a fun year in the 8th.

Yes it is going to be a fun year. Anderson IMO should be dominating this region and they are not. Any ideas why they are not? Maybe Gunner was the key to last years success. Heck I don't even see them dominating the 30th district. Collins is a lot better than I thought they would be.

So, will South face Fern Creek if they both advance in their tournament after Christmas? I looked at the "bracket" on the KHSAA Scoreboard, but it's vague.

I've been saying this since pre-season rankings came out, Gunner Gillis did ALL the dirty work for them last year. Can't replace his production. Was not always filling up the box score, but he was the catalyst for them. He rebounded like crazy for them.

That would be a good match up. If all holds true to form South, Fern Creek, Dixie heights and North should advance. I think Henry is still suspended for North Oldham. The athleticism of Fern Creek will bother the three shooters for South and maybe too much if South does not get clean looks.

Yes happened several times...I'd say they hit 4 or 5 threes from this very thing.
