Bowling Green 69 Ballard 67

Per Jason Frakes, the Purples survive in the KOB. They will play an out-of-state entrant tomorrow in a semi.

Down big vast majority of game. Purples make a run in 4th quarter and hang on to survive. Should not have won but good teams find a way. Good job Purples

BG trailed by as many as 16 points (34-18), but erased most of that with a 10-0 run, and for much of the rest of the second and third, the lead bounced between 4-10 points. In the fourth, BG got it down to two, then one, but kept missing opportunities to tie or take the lead. Finally, while down four (I think 64-58?), Zion Harmon hit four straight free throws, then hit a shot and was fouled, hitting the free throw to put the Purples up. After a Ballard miss on the other end, Harmon was fouled again, and went to the line, hitting both, to give them a 67-64 lead and end his personal 9-0 run. Ballard ultimately had a chance to tie from the foul line, but missed one of two, and was unable to take advantage when Terry Taylor missed one of two with 11 seconds left. Ballard had two looks in close, but couldn't get either down, giving the Purples the win.

Bowling Green has not lost a regular season game since last season's KOB (where they fell to Ballard in a consolation game), and is 7-0 for the first time since 2000/01, which was Josh Carrier's senior season and Mr. Basketball year.

BG should get another nice test from the team from Georgia tomorrow

The 7th region is going to be another war.

All I can say is...heck of a game, I didn't think BG would claw back but they did.
