@BFritz...dude...I'm not sure what you are trying to do here. HHS people (and possibly some non-HHS people) have answered your questions, but then you get almost offended at the answers and say they aren't answers? I'm not following you here. Here is what I have deduced from the posts. Coaching change and all that goes with that. THATS HUGE! Especially when replacing a state, if not a national legend. In conjunction with that HHS seems to be in a down cycle of talent. Now that might be an unusual phenomena for them, but it happens to everyone eventually and it just so happened at the same time a new coaching staff is trying to implement their philosophy on the program. Another factor that again is coinciding with what's already been mentioned is the emergence of better high school football in NKY overall. Some of those programs aren't "whipping boys" any more for HHS...or many other teams for that matter. Those seem to be the main points mentioned. So, not being a HHS guy and couldn't care less if they win the next 50 state championships in a row or don't win a game for the next 50 years, the answers to your questions have been addressed in this thread multiple times, and they are easy to see. I'm scratching my head as to what else it is you are looking for and why your replies have become somewhat "toxic" to some posters.

When they split...I think 5 years ago?...it decimated Shelby and most of the athletes went the way of Collins. Collins was instantly a force in basketball and football. It seems the way the district is drawn up, Collins gets more than their fair share of the talent pool that the county as a whole has to offer. I work with some Shelby County people and have dealings with several more...many are still very sore about the school splitting.

Situation: team down to 5 players, as player is driving in for a layup he is fouled, comes down hard and sprains ankle badly, has to be helped off the court and is out of the game. There is no one to come in for him and team has to finish with 4 players. There are 2 free throws to shot and obviously the injured player can't shoot them. How is this handled by rule? Does the shooting teams coach pick someone to shoot the free throws...the opposing teams coach? This very thing happened to us this weekend and the refs were at a loss as to what to do.

The season just keeps getting more crazy. Good gosh.

Having seen both play if Perry Central did play Paris I don't know that you would call Perry Central an underdog. It would be a game with completly contrasting styles. Either style could lead to a blowout for one or the other or be a really really good game.

Anyone who knows anything at all about the program, when it was discovered Gunner was leaving, they knew the team was going to miss him...A LOT. But can't dwell on that now, that's way in the past and have to deal with the current situation. 8th Region Warrior hit it pretty well on his blurb about AC. I know it has been mentioned on 8th region threads about Collins and Spencer using young kids. Well, Anderson is using some now as well, even though that probably wasn't the plan at the beginning of the season. Two freshman got significant playing time against Collins last week, with one being on the floor and contributing at the end of the game. And to be honest I was somewhat surprised the other one wasn't out there at the end of the game as well. Both are contributing too, in different ways. Anderson also has one of if not the best freshman team in the area, even without the 2 kids playing who are now playing varsity. So there's that to look forward to. Sometimes teams don't gel for different reasons, and Anderson seems to be fighting that for some reason right now. When that happens, you end up losing games you might could/should win...it appeared as though AC had the Collins game in hand and let it slip away. AC has some talent in their top 4...now they definitely have some weaknesses like everyone, but the ability is there. They are now developing a couple of freshman who have stepped up and given some good minutes the past couple of weeks, and they greatly need that depth to develop. If those two can continue to develop and improve, Anderson, though not where they expected themselves to be at this point in the season, just might be a very very dangerous team. Remember, they got to the region finals last year very unexpectedly, and in some ways this team is better than that team (and in some ways not as good as well). This is a year were I can see them not even getting to the region, and I can see them, with the right matchup getting back to the finals. It's one of those years.

Got to meet both @B-Ball-fan and @Indiana Patrick yesterday at the boys finals. Good dudes. Only got to take in a couple of games this time but always have a good time when I go down there. First rate tournament for sure.

Card, I know you don't want or like hearing it, but sure as the sun rises in the east, AC expects to beat Spencer, it's just how is, and it's many more times than not how it works out. And in a season where AC was picked by more than a few as the pre-season favorite to win the 8th region, losing to a team that has two 8th graders, a freshman and a sophomore on the floor during the game just isn't the expected outcome or what AC people think should happen, there just isn't any way else to put it. And that is no disrespect to Spencer, it's just the expected "pecking order" if you will of the AC faithful. Now, with that said I wish I could have made the game so I could discern better for myself the ebb and flow of the game and what lead to the loss. Was Spencer the better team and just beat AC? Did AC just have a very bad game and Spencer took advantage of a really off night? I can tell you what some AC fans told me (played horrible, should not lose to SC, etc.), but I have to take that with at least a hint of salt. It's obvious that SC has the ability to beat AC...they just proved it. And if you remember in my previous posts in some other threads, the way AC was playing, counting Spencer, or almost anyone on the schedule for that matter, as a win before the game was played probably wasn't a good idea. It's now time for AC to regroup, find what works, scrap what doesn't and as my mom used to say, "get some grit in your craw" and play with so much fire and intensity that it would scare the devil himself. Now, congratulations are in order for Spencer on their big district win...cause it was a big win for them no doubt. I'm quite sure there is a lot of excitement going on with the basketball program in SC, something they aren't normally accustomed to and I'm sure it's a lot of fun for them right now. And all indications are this could sustain itself for at least 2-3 years what with the young talent they have on the team. Luckily AC has some young talent in the freshman ranks as well, one of which is starting to get more clock and assert himself on the varsity level, with some others we should start seeing some contributions from next year. One things for sure, the 30th district is shaping up to be a dog fight, and someone may not be making the region tournament that expected to be there. These next 4 weeks could be very exciting.

Uuuuuhhhhhhhhh. Things are not good in the 'Burg when AC loses to Spencer County...and at home of all things. However many of us knew this was a possibility with the way the season has shaken out so far. 1st place in the district was in their control with all 3 district seeding games at home and having already defeated Shelby County, with Collins coming to the 'Burg Friday night. If they beat Collins Friday I think that makes a 3 way tie for 1st, everyone having beat Shelby and then all three beating each other. 1-4 record in the 8th region right now. I wasn't at the game last night, had middle school games of my own in Lexington and missed it, but right after the game I talked to a player parent on the phone. He was at a loss and was very disappointed in the way AC played...the word "horrible" came up more than once. I think he said at one time, Spencer had two 8th graders, a Freshman and a sophomore on the floor at the same time. @Cardsrule1972 might can clarify that for me. IF that was the case, or even anywhere close, I'm not sure if that speaks more highly of Spencer Co, or more negatively of AC's performance. A loss like this can do one of two things...it can fire up and motivate AC to dig deep, come together, get after their remaining opponents and find ways to win, or it can deflate them even further with bad play and more losses being the result. I hope Coach Drury and the staff can find ways to keep the boys fired up and getting after it, and the boys can keep grinding/working at it knowing they can win games with all out effort and smart play. There are a lot of good kids on that team and I hate seeing them struggle like this.

How many middle schools feed MC? Also, one could make the argument that combining multiple teams into one team might not be an "improvement", everything else being equal. There are arguments both ways.

SOME may have still thought that even with the loss of Gunner...but even with Gunner AC wasn't going to run away with it, it would have still been a battle. Losing him and then all the other things that have happened in season...here we are. I guess a positive way to look at it is the team hasn't shown any sort of peak yet... maybe things will come together and they can start peaking at the right time.

Not sure Dunbar would win many games at all with Hollingsworth only scoring 10 points. As a matter of fact I'm surprised the score was this close with that happening.
