Anderson has 3 possible all region candidates coming back in Penny, Gritton and Pittman. They need to replace Garmon of course but I think they have a good one coming up that's up for the task. Depth I think will be better next year as well. I'd can definitely see them being pre-season top 2. I think Collins will be pretty good again but will lose some size, and if I'm not mistaken a lot of the WV talent was young/sophomores this year? If so they should be right in the mix again. Spencer County could make some noise but still think they are another year away probably. I know SO loses Griffin, which is huge for them, not sure who they have coming back, or about OC either.

Someone told me today the ref underneath at the end of the game on the layin attempt by Penny blew the whistle and motioned for a charge? Did anyone see that? If it happened, I didn't see or hear it, but had that shot went in and he called a charge, that gym would have become a madhouse.

My complaint would be the parking. Yes, it's the largest gym and only one in the 8th big enough to hold the crowd for region, but just as a comparison the parking at Anderson is probably twice what it is at he Roy with a gym half the size. People having to park literally a half mile away on the highway both above and below the school on BOTH sides of the road is crazy and dangerous.

It wasn't near as bad last night for the final as it was Monday night for the semi's. It was darn near unbearable Monday night, I don't think I have even been in a gym anywhere near that hot in early March. Do the windows up top open? If they do they needed a bunch open Monday night.

I'd say McKnight is an all around player that probably won't "wow" you with any one thing, but does quite a few things pretty well. After watching him for a while you kind of say "hey, that kids pretty good". He's probably not gonna drop 30 on anyone (at least yet) or hit three or four 3's from 24 feet in a game, but what he is going to do is play solid d, run the point well, start the offense and find the open man, and drive and score when the opportunity is there. Very calm cool and collected for a freshman playing the point.

And then got real inconsistent in the 4th. Yep I wasn't overly impressed with the refing in last nights game.

I think it was a tad more than that, but, like I said nothing earth shattering but it can be done without. And one of the kids who did it sat behind me and another AC fan during our game with SO. We had a short, pleasant interaction with the young man and seems like a pretty good kid so I'm sure the emotion of the game probably got to him a little, which can happen.

Ummm...that's pretty bad form there radio calling out a kid by name who DIDN'T do anything and speculating that if the tables were turned that he would have done the same. You don't know that as fact by any measure. And, were the tables turned and an Anderson kid had done something similar I would be the first to say it's uncalled for and in bad taste. It's uncalled for and in bad taste when ANY kid does it.

He's referring to the kid at Bowling Green I believe, Zion Harmon. I don't think Conley holds a candle to Zion right now, and that's no disrespect to Conley, Harmon is just that good. Just go down their stat line and look at some of their games: 26, 19, 20, 19, 24. Has lead a region winning team in points several games against a very good schedule. 2nd leading scorer on the team at 16.4 a game, just behind DI commit senior Terry Taylor. Kid can play and supposedly is ranked the top 8th grade prospect in the country.

They will be, and I think they will be a force in the region for the next 3 years as they have a very good freshman class as well that should start giving major contributions next year.

He's a good one. He will give Anderson problems the next 3 years for sure.

I wouldn't call it horrible, but it was definitely noticeable and in poor taste and as a coach I would have been perturbed by it and given the kids a tongue lashing once in the locker room. As Iceman said above, they should have been more focused on getting over and celebrating with their teammates after a huge win than taking the time to stop and taunt the student section. With that said I don't think it detracted by any great measure from the game/win, but definitely not a good look to end things on.

Wow just wow what a game. Though we came up on the losing end it was a heck of a region final. Two evenly-matched teams giving their all on the floor. Game was close throughout and could have gone either way. Had Anderson secured a defensive rebound in the final seconds they walk off as winners. Unfortunately that did not happen., Collins hits their free throws and AC misses a layup at the buzzer that looked good all the way, till it wasn't. Great game by both teams and congrats to Collins on the hard fought win.

Hummm...so who is this little Johnny you speak of, and is he anywhere near Anderson County and have eligibility left? As for the original question about Charter schools...isn't the bill only going to allow these schools initially in Louisville and Lexington? I haven't read the bill but thought I heard this being discussed on the radio. Initially it won't have any affect on athletics. Some of the schools may not even have an athletic program in the early years, if ever.

I think the 13 region officials have done a decent job in 8th region so far. Probably better than some 8th region officials we routinely see. Sure they have missed some calls here and there, but been pretty fair and consistent from what I have seen.

When I said above "they are a good, well coached team and they had a very good season" I was referring to SO and giving them some props. Sorry I didn't make that more clear, my bad.

In Andersons loss @SO, South was 14-34 from 3 land. Last night they were 5-31. That's a HUGE difference. Quite a bit of that had to do with better defense and rebounding from AC as SO didn't get nearly as many clean looks as they did in their first meeting, nor 2nd chance wide open opportunities off of kickouts from offensive rebounds which really hurt AC in their first game. Regardless, they are a good, well coached team and they had a very good season.

Anderson defended well what I think is the worst matchup for them in the region, South Oldham. IF they can defend the same way tonight and just keep Collins in check on the boards while protecting the ball, it's very likely they will be cutting down the nets at the Roy. However, this will be a greatly heated, contested game. Not only is this the region championship, it's a huge district rivalry as well, with each having taken a victory this year at the other's home floor. Calm will need to prevail as well in this game and that can be a tough thing to do in the type environment we will see tonight.

YES! Anderson did everything tonight they didn't do in the loss at South Oldham. They closed out on the three, played much better defense overall, rebounded much better, and for most of the game handled South Oldham's pressure. It got a little dicey about halfway through the fourth quarter and South looked like they were going to come back after Anderson made some untimely turnovers, but Anderson weathered it and went on to extend the lead. Tomorrow night's final against Collins will be the rubber match, each team having beat each other on the road. The atmosphere should be electric tomorrow night at the Roy.

We played Glasgow Christian this year, didn't play Community this go around. Glasgow was pretty decent and may have been the best team they have even had, so if Community beat them they did a pretty god job. Glasgow beat us by 20 I think, unfortunately we were down two starters, one suspended and one sick. Would have loved to have played full strength but unfortunately didn't get that opportunity.

I just don't think Gallatin has enough firepower or depth to handle Collins. Not to mention it looked like Collins played with a chip on their shoulders against North Wednesday night. If they keep that intensity, look out. Not much comes easy at this point of the year, and this one won't either, but I think Collins takes this one in the end. South beat AC at SO earlier in the year, 81-70. SO shot the lights out of it from 3 hitting 14 of them, and AC big man Gritton got in early foul trouble and wasn't much of a factor with 4 points a 7 rebounds. SO also outrebounded AC in the game. Penny picked up some of the slack scoring 37, but a lot of those were late after SO had built a good lead. Pittman also didn't have his best game and has since played better and picked up some of the scoring slack, adding the outside threat they needed. AC was also still struggling looking for an identity and had yet to play some of the younger players that have since seen court time and started contributing. They have also since this game gone through some turmoil and come out of it stronger, arguably less talented but with better team chemistry and mentally stronger. With all the above said, this game has the potential to be a very good one. All the things that lead to a SO win in the first game are correctable. If Gritton can stay on the floor and play like he has been the past several games, and Penny can do Penny stuff that will go a long way. AC MUST close out better on the 3's. There is a lot of room in the middle in that extended high pressure zone SO runs, and AC must recognize it quickly and make good crisp quick passes into it as SO does a good job of rotating in it. Attacking the basket on the SO press once broken will put some pressure on their defense as well, something I didn't think WV did all that well last night in the first half (didn't stay for the 2nd half). They also MUST block out and rebound better than they did in the first contest. There is no doubt this will be a tough game for AC to win...but they definitely can win it. And being an AC guy it's who I'm rooting for, of course.

Whew...Eminence gave us all we wanted and played with more energy for much of the game. Couple of very questionable fouls against AC early didn't help either. Us AC fans were on the edge out our seats till about a minute left in the game. Better come out Monday with more energy and more urgency in their play.
